Problem is you have to pay in store by Monday. And you can’t pay until the tyres are fitted.

Nothing in stock at my local, so can’t take advantage unfortunately.

    • Could try asking Mycar if you can prepay.

Was thinking of doing that. But just realised Monday is a public holiday in NSW. Oh well

Just went to my local Mycar (I'm in VIC) and they don't do gift cards.

      • I think they have stopped selling gift cards since the rebranding from kmart auto a few years ago. You can still use fb$ to pay though.

  • Damn! I just had my car serviced by MyCar on Monday.

  • How are they for servicing? Its only a little bit cheaper with them compared to the dealer ($50 price difference).

    • +1

They are fine if you are just doing a standard service, but if there is no significant price discount from the dealership, I would go with the dealer. Because they have to service all sorts of different cars, they may not have the level of expertise for your particular car.

I had bad experience when I went to them for my pink slip. They found faults which were not super urgent and their quotation was expensive too but they knew I had no choice as my rego was due in 2 days.

Managed to take the work to another mechanic who did for 2/3rd of the price and one of the repairs was not deemed urgent for pinkslip.

Pirelli tyre deal within 4 days please…

  • Bloody daylight saving, saving crap

    • Anything to increase customer spending.

  • They publish their standard car serving cost ($209, I assume is non-synthetic oil), but often it's difficult to assess their price competitiveness on other service items which you may or may not need and you won't know until it's been assessed during the servicing, which at that point in time you aren't able to assess without ringing up other mechanics.

In general are people finding that their prices are reasonable compared to other local mechanics (non-dealership mechanics)?

  • Nothing showing on my platinum

  • Double check wheel balance after tyres fitted. I had a set of tyres fitted last December and had to have them rebalanced twice and still wasn't right. First time weights fell off and 2nd was just a piss poor effort and were out of balance. Had a different shop correct it.

My experience using this Amex offer last time it came up:
Went to MyCar in east Melb suburb for 4x new tyres. When I went back to collect the car after fitting I was told that my car was blowing black smoke, there was a major issue with my make/model and would probably need a new engine, they could probably help asap (I had never seen my car blow smoke before this, no mechanical issues). I had a service booked with the dealership the next week and told the MyCar mechanic this and his tune changed.
The car DID blow some black smoke on the way home and for the next few hours, then never again since that day. Never sure if they added something to cause the black smoke, but it felt wrong and will not be going back there again. No issues with the tyres to this day though so there is that…

  • Son of a bitch, spent 900 bucks with them 6 days ago!

    • +1

depends on your store, I asked them if they could refund me and pay again, and he said yes.
Also brought 4 typers during last time Amex pro and fitted a few month later

  • Anyone has experience with asking for payment to be split over multiple cards?

  • +1

I called them to book a logbook service and asked if I could pay in advance because I could only book the nearest appointment on Tuesday. They sent me a link through text to pay. It looks like a third-party service that handles their online payment system. I worried that paying online wouldn't meet the requirement for the cashback, so I went to their shop to pay directly. I got a Thank You email from Amex right away.
