I don't think any smartwatch is included in their sale. Also, I read the reviews here to stay away from them. There is also a 15% discount for sign-up. I am waiting for mine.

Check ShopBack and Iconic before you buy. There could be a better deal out there that I am not sure of.

Fossil are basic quartz fashion watches. If you want a quartz chrono around $100 I'd recommend a Pagani Design from Aliexpress.

If you want an auto diver around $100 wait for the Steeldive SD1970 or Addiesdive to go on special.

They do have some Automatic non-chrono watches on sale, but the movements are pretty ordinary, and I agree there are plenty of better value alternatives in Quartz options from various brands.

If you love a specific design of Fossil's that's fine, otherwise their range is a bit of a rip-off even on sale.

      • You're all wrong though.

Because the lads and lasses down at the pub won't be able to recognise your sTeElDiVe..

Best not to live your life worrying about what others think.

            @WatchNerd: That's all I worry about. I'm an entitled millennial. 🙃

Just wait for the next Citizen garage sale, I bought a titanium Ecodrive ~$700 watch for $85.
          And everyone knows Citizen, right?

          • @[Deactivated]: Not more than Fossil!

Especially when half the pub is already wearing a Fossil shirt or something.. 😅 I'm going to blend in better than camouflage.

Serious question though, did you actually find a Citizen at a garage sale? I randomly peruse Marketplace sometimes to look for people heavily underselling old/second hand watches they have no idea about.. 🙃

@WasBargain: It was at the Citizen garage sales at their head office in Frenchs Forest.
All the samples their sales reps were traipsing round with, all brand new out of box.
Must've been this sale, wow 2017, so long ago

Second this. Was store manager at Fossil for 7 years so have seen the decline in their quality firsthand. The quartz chronos are mainly designed with a fashion sense in mind, they are very basic. The auto chrono ones used to have a japanese movement and these were of exceptional quality but are now Chinese so i would steer clear of them. Although some models are still Japanese movements but these are rare. Keep in mind that Fossil also makes the watches for Michael kors, Armani, etc.

Surely all watches are just fashion watches, in the age of the smartphone.

      • True. Except for some smart watches, which can be genuinely useful. I guess some diving watches may be useful if you do a lot of water sports and need to know the time or use a timer while doing them.

      • +4

Nah, a watch is a useful tool. Nothing worse than pulling your phone out every few minutes.

Though, you could get away with a f91w. That said, you could also get away with a much cheaper phone, car, bag, clothes, etc.

      • Aren't smartphones just as much fashion items as watches? Also who wears the smartphone on their body that's visible all the time?

      • +1

No, some watches are amazing pieces of engineering and craftsmanship, able to keep time to within a few seconds of each day's 86400 seconds using just weights and springs, all within a tiny package that fits on your wrist.

        • Appreciation of the intricacies of engineering in may fields is lacking these days.

          Even in engineering.

I've heard various people say this over the years and I just absolutely do not get it. Yes, obviously we all have the time in our pocket but nothing compares to having it strapped to your wrist all day. I don't really know how to describe it, but I feel lost without a watch.

50mm case lol, oversized on 90% of wrists; who the heck would wear this.

  • Their smart watches are terrible. I wear a Gen6 during the week. If it goes flat (which it does all the time) it loses the location settings, sound settings, & display settings. If you use a face that doesn't show your steps they won't count in your health app. Pity, as the watch looks great and feels pretty good too.

  • BTW, we bought a watch last night but could not get their 15% discount coupon that they emailed us working.
