US Paramount Plus (with UEFA Champions League) US$59.99/Year (~A$7.85/Month) @ Paramount Plus (VPN Required to Sign-up & View)

470

Hi folks - I wasn't keen on paying the minimum $25 /month on Stan to watch the Champions League this year so looked into other options. Paramount Plus has the streaming rights in US inc. Europa and other leagues for US $5.99 month and $59.99 annual which is a lot cheaper. I was able to signup using prepaid gift cards without too much hassle, a VPN is required - I use Surfshark.

Signup Process:
1. Purchase a eGift card from Amazon US, which you will receive in a few minutes - https://shorturl.at/jAISV
2. Login to your favourite VPN, I use Surfshark connecting to Miami server. I cant vouch for any other VPN's as this is the only one ive tried
3. When you receive your gift card go to www.paramountplus.com/gift to redeem, enter your voucher number - this link wont work properly unless your connected to your VPN
4. You will be asked to signup with some basic details, name, email etc - no credit card details required & choose plan
5. Happy streaming - VPN is required for both signup and viewing

For Android - I downloaded the Android APK's for my phone and TV from https://m.apkpure.com/ which both work fine (again with VPN when viewing). Not sure about iOS

Note: I did initially try to signup using a credit card, this didn't work, I tried a few with no luck.

There are 2 plans to choose from, the other is US $11.99 /month which includes Showtime and no ads, and you have option for monthly or annual (I started with monthly and upgraded to annual).

Even if your not into the sport there seems to be a good amount of movies and TV shows that make it worthwhile.

Disclaimer: Ive only had this going for a few days, streaming quality has been fine maintaining HD quality. I cant vouch for the longevity of this method, it works fine today but who knows what tomorrow holds.

There are so many free month codes for Paramount Plus US. Don't forget to use those freebies. Free it's always better.

  • +1

Just signed up for a free trial yesterday, noticed they also have 50% off the annual plan, ending today. $29.99 USD for the year for Paramount+ Essential (includes Champions League) . However, like posted above, I'm gonna play my luck with free trial codes. ~$50 AUD for a year of Champions League is a solid price though.

    • I did see this but it only seemed to be available when signing up via the credit card method which I couldn't do.I didn't get that 50% special via the gift card method. If there is a better way let me know!

      • Sorry yeah I am American and was able to sign up with US credit card so I didn't notice that hurdle. Even full price is so much cheaper than paying $25 a month for Stan Sports so good find!

  • VPN is required

Is the VPN required only for sign-up, or while watching too?

    • +1

VPN required for sign-up and viewing

      • Can you see paramount+ Australia content without VPN?

        • No. The US and AUS accounts are separate.

      • +1

So can I stream to a chromecast at home? or only watch on my iPhone/iPad?

  • +2

    And it has Serie A

    • exactly what i was about to ask

  • +14

Alternatively, use a VPN connected to Ireland (will need to use it every time you start a stream) to watch on the LiveScore App for free
    https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/free-stream-for-all-ucl-mat…

Did it this morning with no issues (NordVPN)
    https://www.cheapies.nz/node/42880

    • Where do you actually create an account? Cant find that.option for the life of me…

      • +1

Start to stream a game and a register/ log in button will appear

        • Can you use NordVPN app on iPhone to get it to work?

          • +1

            @Seph: Yes. That’s what I did.

            • @Wakrak: Thank you! Deserves its own post TBH

    • I have registered an account while signed into ivacy vpn set to Ireland. The app is saying to watch live on Livescore bet all you need is a funded account. Did you set up a betting account and fund it with 10 euro?

      • No.

  • +1

Do they have 4k champions league like Stan?

It is a bit exxy for Stan standard + Sport ($31/month, $372 annually), but i halve it with a sibling ($15.5/month).

    • I believe only HD but for $8 month more than fine

    • +1

Yeah, as rugby/tennis/football fans Stan is far and away the best value streaming subscription my siblings and I have. Though it would be nice if Australian rugby was in a better state.

  • -1

    is UCL in 4k?
    Stan's plan is $21 + 10 per month I believe (for 4k)

    • Any type of account can run Stan Sport in 4K, but you're right for the entertainment side you need the top Stan subscription to get 4K and four concurrent logins.

  • You can also watch 15min highlights on YouTube for free using US vpn

    • Is that on Paramounts YouTube channel (linky)?

Stan has 3 minute highlights with no spoilers in the title, which is ok for my casual football needs:

      https://www.youtube.com/@StanSportAU/videos

    • Is there a similar US channel that have extended Premier League highlights? thx

  • Thanks op! I am assuming here it would work with usual Paramount account too as long as you use Vpn.
I have actually used the vpn to watch UK and Italian shows/movies. I will try to connect to the US with my current login.

    • I don't have a local account so not sure. Would also be keen to know!

    • If you mean if you have the AU version of Paramount + can you use a VPN to watch the USA Paramount + = NO. I was hoping to be able to do that like with Netflix and Prime. But when I tried with P+ all it does is recognise I am "in the USA" with my VPN and won't accept my AU P+ login. It wants me to sign up as a new US subscriber. That's my experience anyway - if anyone else has gotten it to work with their AU P+ account please share the magic.

    • +1

Paramount Aus and UK can share login details , but paramount Usa is a seperate account , from memory it also uses a seperate app.

  • I tried Vidio with surfshark VPN for CL games, seems decent for the price ($4/month), also comes with Serie A and a bunch of other shows. Annual subs is about $25. There is a higher subscription that includes EPL, cost about $6/month.

    Thanks to this thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/794477

    • this could be the deal! how did you pay?

      • I have an overseas friend with a local account that helped me pay. But when I tested it the other day, it seems to accept Google Pay, credit cards etc. I haven't tried if it will work with Australian cards though.

        • I tried it didn’t work . Hope someone has a solution

  • IPTV or Stremio with RD is all you need IMO!!

    • what's rd?

      • +2

Real Debrid, it’s not technically necassary but I find it worth the $3/$4 a month for better quality streams etc

        • cheers

    • How are you using RD with IPTV to watch champs league or are you just talking streaming shows etc?

      • IPTV I just use for sports/live events as Stremio isn’t the best for that.
I use RD with Stremio for all other things streaming, shows etc.

        • What IPTV setup you using?

    • That only works for movies and TV shows. For sports I use Kodi + Mad Titan Sports or The Crew on Firestick to watch on TV

    • +1

Streamio with RD wouldn't help with sports.

      • IPTV is what I use for sport, still working out cheaper to the above while including PPVs etc.

    • What IPTV apps do you use? I'm specifically looking for android apps to use on Google TV and Nvida shield. I have just set up Kodi with a couple of add ons like Ghost and The Crew. I find the user interface for Kodi really clunky, making me hesitant to pay for real debrid. If there's a better experience, I'm happy to pay for real debrid. Any suggestions?

      • I’ll PM you mate, but as others said RD with Stremio isn’t the way to go for sports but IPTV with the right app allows you to watch basically any event.

      • +2

Tivimate is the best IPTV app for android tvs, so many features and beautiful interface. I have tried close to 50 apps and settled on tivimate. For IPTV, I recommend getting a cheap $3 a month subscription from alibaba. You get thousands of channels and no vpns are required.

        • Better to pay a bit extra for a quality provider.

        • Do these subscriptions have EPL and champions league in English?

Probably pushing my luck, but do they have PPV like UFC and boxing matches?

          • @NoApostrophePlurals: Yes they do, they have all of UK sky, bt sports etc and ppvs. I personally have not had any issues using these cheap services, you can get free trials from alibaba sellers as well.

            • @Groovyuvi: I did a quick google and discussions talk about EGP a lot. Have you had a good experience with any one particular over another? If so, could you DM me a link to one off Alibaba you use?

There's soooany she. I search Alibaba I don't really know what to get.

I saw mentions of StreamQ having an excellent EPG but it's 75 USD a year, not cheap.

              • @NoApostrophePlurals: Hey

The epg is not the best from what I've seen but streaming quality is pretty good. You do get epg for most UK and US channels. The channels are mostly 1080p with some 4ks too. They're all pretty much resellers of one major iptv resource so experience is very similar.

                Feel free to dm me.

    • Stremio has CL games?

  • has anyone tried with NordVPN?

  • After the 50c a month deal, anything else just feels wrong 😝😝

  • +1

You could also split a Stan Sport (with Stan if you wish) sub with a group of ozb folk which works out pretty cheap and doesn't need a VPN. Also don't have to put up with American hosts/commentators……(not that Aussies are much better!(

    • It is fortunately British commentators for UCL on Stan.

      • +2

Not sure if that is always a good thing, especially if the games involve EPL teams (vs other teams not from the same league). I find the commentary bias can be extreme at times.

    • Confirmed. We do this every year. Costs $9 a month each for 4k Stan+sports.

  • I had this setup last year but find recently Paramount Plus gave proxy vpn errors while live streaming UCL.

Replay or watching movies/tv are fine. Maybe it's with my VPN provider (VanishedVPN).

Also took them a long time (few hours) to put up highlight+extra.

Stan is better but it is also more pricy. Good if you can split the cost with few others.

  • Can you cast to your tv using this process?

    • +1

Yes as long as you have VPN on your TV. Won't work otherwise

  • +1

US soccer commentary. Not even once

  • +2

Does the US Paramount Plus have the A-league on it? If so, would be good to drop the AU Paramount for it.

    • I think I only paid $44 for the year for Paramount AU last year.

    • +2

      Everything but A-league it appears:

      AFC Asian Qualifiers
      AFC Champions League
      AFC Women's Asian Cup
      Argentina Liga Professional de Futbol
      Barclay's Women's Super League
      Brazil Campeonato Brasileirao Serie A
      Concacaf Nations League
      Concacaf Qualifiers
      Concacaf Women's Championship
      Women's World Cup Qualifiers
      National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
      Scottish Professional Football League
      Series A (Italy)
      UEFA Champions League
      UEFA Europa Conference League
      UEFA Europa League
      UEFA Youth League
      The Women's Cup

  • Does the US Paramount offer a range of highlights options (3 mins, 9 mins, 24 mins) like Optus Does for the EPL? I barely have time to watch all of that at this stage!

    • +2

From what i can tell they offer 1 highlights option per match which vary by length but they are around 10 minutes give or take

  • +1

I used to subscribe to the US version of Paramount+ for the UCL football. My comments:

You need to install the US version of the application on your Android device (I used a Vodafone TV). I had to side-load the APK. Annoyingly the app would need to be updated semi-regularly in order for it to continue to work so it was time consuming having to find the latest version .APK and then side-load it. I think the app is also available via Aptoide so that might be a better way of keeping the app up to date.

The picture quality/frame rate was not pleasant to watch.

It sometimes took a long time for replays for the UCL to appear in the list.

I used a smart DNS (Getflix.com.au) to access Paramount+ instead of a VPN. I needed to contact Getflix and use a specific region's DNS servers (they didn't work with the Australian ones I tried)

I did this for 2 years. This year I am sharing a Stan + Sport subscription for $9 a month and found the experience much more enjoyable.

    • Would that be 3 people you're sharing with?

      • Yeah. I found somebody in the classifieds area of OzBargain.

    • Which getflix region/dns worked?

      • +1

        I used these two:

        46.246.29.68 – Sweden Stockholm
        188.132.234.171 – Turkey Istanbul

Other ones may work now though…

      • I used Auckland when I last had the service.

  • Arrgh

    • You're two days late, ye scurvy dog!

  • Bought the gift voucher an hour ago and no email yet… Wonder if I did anything wrong..

  • Redid and worked fine. Thanks op

  • Had paramount plus for about 8 months now from a deal at the start of the year. Sucks it doesn't have UCL but it does have FA cup.

    • Australian Paramount+ doesn't have UCL, but US Paramount+ does have UCL.

  • I did everything you suggested
But then it takes me to download the paramount + app which I do through vpn then it’s not accepting my username password ?
