    Seems… expensive.

    • yep..a few years ago it could be had for $5 per month.

this deal brings it to around $13.50 pm, if have a mate you can split cost with

if you have a mate, that is…

        • +2

You say your mate is bad at maths too?

sweet, you could rip him off then!

          FYI, for your mate:

          325/12 = 27.08

          27.08 / 2 = 13.54

not beating that price - its a decent deal if you are interested in sport shcedules across the year - i like Kayo for primarily for AFL F1 NBA and NBL, so that make it viable all year round for me.

i subsidise it by not subscribing to anything else, bar a lifetime plex pass ;)

          • @QuickToThePointless: Also bought the digital package, will activate after resubscribing for a month @ $25/mth for 2 4K screens.

            $325 + $25 / 13 months = $26.92 / 2 screens = $13.46mth

I didn't even needed to be an Eagles member, go figure!

    • +3

FYI - if you prefer only a monthly commitment, and have Commbank account, they are offering $15 pm code for one screen, 1080p

      • -1

Wish the other banks would follow suit

      • Can also be used for Premium for $30/month

      • Targetted

      • This is targetted as I don't have it. Used it last year so maybe it only works once?

    • +2

Seeing AFL season finishes in Sept, you’ll be buying 12 months for ~ six months viewing of AFL.

      $325 / 6 = $54.17.
Split with a mate (/2) and this still costs ~ $27 per person, per month.
      No thanks.

      • Just resubscribed with this deal, confirmed subscription ends 12 months from today.

      • its 12 months total mate…chances are if you like AFL you will like other sports too?

  • +10

Eagles are going to be paying supporters to watch them soon

    • +4

well, yes, they are already paying Adam Simpson about $1M for this year, and he is commentating for Fox…not sure he's a supporter any more though?

      • +2

He was supportive of Reid's bird

  • +14

Thanks kayo for ruining free to air

    • +8

free to air AFL was already terrible long before kayo was a thing. blame foxtel if you want to blame something

      • +10

no, now you have to blame DAZN(theguardian.com)

        • +1

No surprises that Rupert had no issues with selling to that maga soviet oligarch.

What are you really gambling with?

      • +1

        Yeah foxtel as well

      • +1

Blame Murdoch for penny-pinching AFL to fund its hyper-conservative democracy-destroying news outlets.

    • -2

free to air doesnt need any help there mate!

    • +1

Free to air has always been horrible resolution and full of commercials? It’s hardly an expensive price for a decent enough product.

      • 1 commercial per goal is hardly “full of commercials”

They can’t commence play until they’re done anyway so I don’t get the big deal

I’ll still take FTA any day of the week rather than paying $325 for Kayo for games that used to be live for free

        • +3

I’ll still take FTA any day of the week rather than paying $325 for Kayo for games that used to be live for free

What magical time period was this when every game was available live on FTA?

        • 30x45 seconds of commercials during a 2 hour production is rather comprehensive, no? It’s a commercial every 4 minutes.

Haven’t you ever noticed commercial tv miss the ensuing restart?

All 9 games a week were never on FTA, live or otherwise. And FTA provides horrible resolution.

    • +1

If you mean thanks Foxtel for providing 20yrs of infinitely more astute commentary, pre/post game analysis and midweek programming, so much so that you can't go back to the woeful sht that the free to air channels have put up all these years…..then yes….thank you Foxtel

      • -2

        lol
        No

        • Cause that would be a product worth paying for…you should try it.

How.many subscription services you on now, my guess would be zero…but likey 1-2 basic with ads type subscriptions

          • @Ryanmyo: I have Netflix and YouTube premium

2 services for less than kayo and it’s all ad free

            • @Drakesy: Youtube premium, so you complain about kayo being a subscription service ruining your free to air footy, but are happy to pay to dodge ads watching rubbish on youtube…..? Ewww.

Me, I'd prefer to pay to see my footy team each week (which you can't get on FTA) in 4k with superior coverage ad free siren to siren sans every limp wristed, G rated commentary drip in the land…

But I'll pay for superior sport coverage that isn't available for free and you pay extra for the same mindless junk content that is actually available for free….

            • @Drakesy: You pay for YouTube premium? Have you heard of adblockers?

Would you like to invest in my asbestos insulation company?

              • @eccaz: They don't work on android TV's

  • I have Foxtel IQ5 as I’m a big NRL watcher but since they screwed me over I’m going to cancel it. How does Kayo quality compare to Foxtel?

I have only watched Kayo once before and that was in and holiday apartment where they offered Kayo there and when I watched NRL 360 and a NRL game it wasn’t smooth in some parts. This was through the TV app

    • +2

Kayo never misses a beat for me. I only have two gripes: firstly, if a game (the one before the one I want to watch) goes over it's allocated time, it will chew into the game I want to stream. This will inadvertently spoil the early game that I might have watched later, since I have learned the score. Secondly, the HD stream is pretty average on my 75 and 85 inch tv's. The 4K looks great though.

    • I dont use tv apps, but it works fine on a stand alone device like googletv/shield etc.I just hate the menu system. I have had the odd bug where a stream just stops and i need to start it again but thats like maybe once every few weeks.

The HD quality on a good tv is not great but you make do. The 4K games are fine.

      • Comparing the two for HD tho, is foxtel better?

        $25 a month for HD $40 for 4K

        • +1

I haven't had Foxtel for at least 5 years so can't comment. Suggest you just do a Kayo free trial and decide yourself.

          • @Xizor: Yer I’m thinking about it but all I have to test it is a PS5. Need to get a Apple TV but I’m hanging off till the new one comes out this year sometime

    • +1

Kayo quality does not compare to cable Foxtel

You sound like a legacy user. Don't drop it

      • Using Foxtel IQ5 over ISP but it looks the same as satellite

Be nice if Foxtel looked after long serving customers

        • +2

Call me crazy but I like having Satellite iQ5 - If the internet drops out, I can still watch the game. Also a big NRL fan, I like the fact that it doesn't use/need bandwidth to function. Internet doesn't drop often but it's just a nice failsafe. I also feel the image is better on Satellite. Im watching on a 83" G4 and I feel it does look better than using Kayo. I could definitely be wrong, but just my gut feeling.

          • @InLaymansTerms: I swapped from Satellite to Internet on my IQ5 and I can’t see the difference in quality. Only thing is the audio is a tad lower on the same level of comparing and the image takes a second to adjust when swapping channels.

I had to change over due to my Satellite giving up on me and there are no more free fixes from Foxtel for this

            • @Twisty: Do you have a high end TV?
I only notice a difference on my high end TVs. All my LCDs I can’t really see any difference.
That being said, even if there is a difference, id say it wouldn’t be a significant difference. ~10% difference on the top end.

          • @InLaymansTerms: Satellite Foxtel + 83” G4 = king amongst kings.

This is as good as it gets for sport on tv in aus. Except perhaps for the one bloke with the 97” G5.

            • +1

              @eccaz: @eccaz - someone who knows what he’s talking about :)

I want to sell it, if you want to buy :) I want to get G5 now lol.

        • They do, tell them you are cancelling your subscription and go to the retention team. Tell them you want sport, iq and whatever else. I had a mate who was getting it all for $60ish but he was a 20/25 year customer

    • Foxtel iq5 is the best money can buy. Kayo is 2nd. Kayo can buffer and be jittery at times, especially with 4K.

I’m also frustrated that NRL games can be spoiled by the previous games broadcast bleeding into the next.

And during AFL games I often have to fold a piece of paper and place it on my tv to block the mini scoreboard of a concurrent game that I may wish to watch later.

Watching on a laptop, on several occasions I’ve been watching a game in the 2nd half and the stream has skipped forward 20 odd minutes. I’ve never been able to discern any rhyme or reason to this, but it’s bloody annoying.

  • +6

Costs slightly more at GWS, however:
    - Better club song;
    - Decent chance of being able to get a Grand Final ticket.

    • Any idea how you'd go about trying to get a ticket? Committed with my duo to split on west coast but sounds like a good gamble for next year!

  • Where are the terms and conditions for this package? Are you sure it's 12 months kayo access from now?

    • In the email I received:

With your AFL Digital membership, you get 12 months access to Kayo, where you can watch every match of every round of the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season live, PLUS over 50 other sports live & on-demand!

Renewing a digital membership? You must apply this new voucher to your Kayo subscription by following the instructions below for “Existing Kayo customer”. If you already have a Kayo voucher applied to your subscription, we recommend redeeming this new voucher in the last month of your offer, so you get the full 12 months of both vouchers.

Thank you, sorry mate, I'm lying here on antibiotics, thanks for spelling it out, didnt scroll down before adding to cart and missed it. Thanks also for being kind and not abusing me for missing it 🙂

  • +4

    This is NOT a bargain.

  • +3

This is the future of watching sport in Australia, feckin' 'ell

  • Anytihng above $20 per month for Kayo is not a deal. They are in Foxtel pricing categories now…and its precisely why MANY have cancelled Foxtel over the years; pay too much for a basic package, but never offering the sports package by itself. Cant imagine they'd ever sell too many sports packages if they started theirs at $40, like Kayo are doing for their base packages. This being $27 per months is still far too much.

    • +3

Lol, okay so tell me how we can get sports on Foxtel for $27 a month??

  • Can you activate the Kayo service at a future date? My current sub still has a few weeks to run.

    • +3

If it’s like other clubs (which it should be) you get a voucher code to redeem, which is valid until approximately the end of the football season.

    • yes, no worries

  • I see on the Kayo site that they have an offer for new customers to get the first month for $1 (including premium plan). Is anyone able to advise whether I can stack these two offers by signing up for the $1 first month and then extending for another 12 months with this offer? Thanks in advance.

  • +5

Best thing about Kayo this season is not having to listen to BT

    • +2

Love having Matt Hill commentate games.

  • -1

Wish they did a NRL membership for Kayo

    • +1

Do you mean a nrl team digital membership? Or a kayo membership that only has access to nrl games?

      • Like this one posted but with NRL. I don’t like or watch AFL sorry

        • +1

Some of the nrl clubs do offer a digital membership (eg. Storm and eels) but it's only the basic kayo plan for about 250. You're only really saving like 5 bucks a month but could be worth it for your team.

        • +1

You can watch all sports including NRL with this voucher:

"With your AFL Digital membership, you get 12 months access to Kayo, where you can watch every match of every round of the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season live, PLUS over 50 other sports live & on-demand!"

          • +1

@justanotherjoe: Yer sounds good but just wish I had a option to buy a Broncos NRL membership for kayo

    • They do but I haven’t seen a 4K one they’re all 1080p

    • +1

      They do. Did you check?

      • Looked for a Broncos one couldn’t find it

    • -2

if you have a mate to go halves with you are talking $3 per week wiht this deal - you dont even have to watch AFL at all, its not manditory!

  • +2

So how long till you receive the kayo voucher when you sign up?

  • +1

Kayo really is a scam like Adobe Subscriptions. If you only watch one sport every couple or weeks it’s bloody expensive. The GUI user experience is horrible.

I pay $15 a month for F1 and it’s hard to justify paying for all sports when you dont watch them

    • -2

dude, if you have a mate to go halves with you are talking $3 per week…not really in scam territory at all!

      • Why do you keep repeating this? Do you work for them or have a vested interest?

$3 per week now is clearly likely to be much more expensive in future going by the predator tactics overseas.

It's a race to the bottom if everyone says nothing while things get more expensive.

The Kayo UI and experience is some of the worst I've seen.

This is not a deal for an AFL fan as it locks you into a year (6 months of off season).

  • +3

They just keep ratcheting up the prices for these streaming services year over year. They start reasonable and once they have a base then it's time to increase periodically.

    • yes, they punish the loyal while the churners get the incentives…its a hard knock life but if you have a mate to go halves with you are talking $3 per week…not worth worriying about IMO if you like sport

if you visit Ozbargain regularly, you can easily claw back $3 per week

  • How long until people have been emailed the kayo code?

  • +3

Love sport but hate Kayo so begrudgingly bought a GWS digital membership at the start of the year.

Kayo is just shit. I blame the CEO Julian Orgin. A tech CEO who doesn’t know shit about tech. Shit at amaysim, shit at Kayo.

    • -1

agree to a point but i feel the glass is half full here - if you have a mate to go halves with you are talking $3 per week - Kayo is super convenient and functional for delayed starts/skipping pauses in play/ catch up etc…its a decent deal if you are interested in sport shcedules across the year - i like Kayo for primarily for AFL F1 NBA and NBL, so that make it viable all year round for me.

i subsidise it by not subscribing to anything else, bar a lifetime plex pass ;)

      • +2

Is this the 5th time you've posted this?

Is there a report option for spam?

  • +2

Kayo having exclusive rights to all Saturday AFL games in Victoria for the entire season is a dog act

    • +2

blame the AFL for their greed there mate..totally agree…really robs pensioners and the most hard up members of society for a few hours of enjoyment barracking for their team each week - not short term either(abc.net.au)

    • +1

Totally agree and I have Kayo.

  • The "Gather Round" price is still showing this morning. Not sure how long it will stay.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if other clubs start discounting their digital memberships a bit as the season progresses. It's okay if you have a broader interest in other sports broadcast on Kayo to get the 12 months worth. And you'll capture the first x rounds of the 2026 AFL season too if you sign up mid-season.

  • Did a quick look through other clubs, as of 23/04/2025 the Bulldogs is the cheapest.

    Kayo Premium for $320
