  • How long can a camera's battery last?

    • +2

No battery as power is off mains.

  • Cheap.
I got one with POE that I have been using for 6 months, it saves the video in my existing Reolink NVR. It's not a Nest, but is still a good product, picture quality is good. Recommend!

    • What features do you like more on the Nest out of interest?

      • +2

The fact that it doesnt cost $12/month. It was $9 until recently too.

        • Isn't there any free nest?

          • @Kammi: for 3 hours yes. Or if u recreate your home every month.

      • Picture quality.I think the nest has a better Camera. I am being picky.

Did you figure out how to get it to notify your phone when it rings?

      • This is my issue with it as well. When someone rings I do get a notification, but it's pretty much the same/similar to the notification that my camera has picked up motion so I generally miss it (a single vibration or ding, if sound is on, and a small icon at the top of my screen).
In contrast my mother's Arlo doorbell will come up like a phone call on my mobile (continuous ringing/vibrations and whole screen will show that a doorbell call is coming through). I generally prefer my Reolink cameras over the Arlo but I do like this Arlo feature

  • I've got an old video intercom it used ethernet to the screen. Can I wire it to use this with or without the screen is fine . Just power wise

    • +1

Yes, you can power the PoE version doorbell using the Ethernet cable, as long as it is plugged into PoE switch for power.

Edit: make sure to get PoE version and not the WiFi version doorbell.

  • this or ring?

    • +1

      This.

    • This, provided that you can get cables to the location you want to mount it. It has no battery so it requires wiring for a DC power supply.

If you can't get wiring to the location, then probably Nest or Ring

  • +1

does it have a electric zap feature?

  • +5

Since I'm an L-Plater, I can't post the deal, but on Reolink@AliEpxress currently available for around $USD70 (PoE $8 cheaper). Included a $10 off Store "Spend and Save" coupon stackable with the $6 off $60 AliExpress coupon.

    Cheapest ever?

    • +1

Thanks! Impulse bought the POE version to replace a broken intercom and match my Reolink camera setup; $93 all up.

      • Now I just hace to convince my wife to let me drill through the wall ….. :-|

    • This might be a stupid question, where do you find the $6 off $60 coupon? On the page it only shows a $4 for $70 spend, and in my cart it shows a $5 for $50 spend under "Get Discount", but collecting the discount doesn't apply anything.

      • +1

Not a stupid question - I didn't refer to the other deal with the codes.

Re the synology compatability. Would I need anything part from the dorbell and my server (DS923+)?

    • Following wouldn't mind connecting this to my ds920+ without a monthly sub. Haven't looked into it, but if it supports onvif it should be good I'd say. Please let me know if you use this on a Synology.

    • I recently got this same doorbell but haven't yet installed and connected to my Synology, but my understanding is that as long as you have a spare licence in the Surveillance Station app, you click add camera and it should auto-detect it on the network.

  • +1

Should we buy this? I don't like visitors lol. have 4 CCTV already

  • No one ever comes to my house. I think I need one.

  • Anyone can recommend a good one that takes AA or AAA battery. Thanking you in advance

  • And I thought the PoE version from MyDeal for $110 delivered the other week was a good deal. At least I've got local warranty and not have to worry about sending it back overseas if there's an issue with the unit. Can absolutely vouch for it being a brilliant doorbell.
