  • took a look at some of the hotels that i booked for my trip at the end of the year….. doesn't appear to be cheaper. I found other places atleast 30-40% cheaper than their prices.

Make sure you do your own research for coupon codes. as Many of the larger hotel booking sites will have a coupon code floating around.

    For example: HotelClub use: NOVA100
Hotels.com use: SUMMER40US10 (not sure if this still works, but you can look for others.)

It is extremely common to find 10% coupon codes via google.

In my experience (I stay about 30-60 days a year in hotels), there isn't any one booking site that is consistently cheaper than the other — you really need to check as many as possible if you want to be sure of getting the best rate for a particular hotel. I just got back from a month overseas, and I used a pretty even spread of booking sites including RatesToGo (which is owned by Orbitz/HotelClub and uses the same booking engine) — RatesToGo was clearly the cheapest in a few instances, including a mistake rate for a Presidential Suite at a Park Hyatt which I got for $200/night including free a la carte breakfast and a free chauffeur driven BMW 7 Series car on call (hyatt.com wanted $1500/night for the same package). :)

      Sites I've used recently:

      • RatesToGo with 15% off coupon (still valid, see below)
      • Hotels.com with 10% off coupon + 6% Starthere cashback
      • Agoda with additional 5% off using Infinite Rewards
      • priceline.com, using their Name Your Own Price system
      • otel.com using their 10% off Facebook coupon
      • marriott.com using their Look No Further best rate guarantee (price match + an additional 25% off)
      • hilton.com (I have Hilton Diamond status, and I need to book direct to receive perks)
      • accorhotels.com (likewise, I have Le Club Accor Platinum status)
      • Hey buddy what country did you score the presidential suite in? I'm heading to Singapore end of next month and would like to match your extreme bargain eliteness! Thanks for dropping your hotel bargain bomb, those resources will come super handy.

Park Hyatt Wash. D.C… so not Singapore unfortunately — Singapore isn't an easy place to find hotel bargains, being one of the more expensive cities when it comes to accommodation!

The Conrad Centennial Singapore is OK value if you can score the room for under $250/night AND you have either Gold or Diamond status with Hilton which gives you a room upgrade, late checkout, free breakfast at their restaurant (one of the best breakfast buffets in Singapore) and access to their Executive Lounge (unlimited champagne/drinks etc. as well as food during afternoon tea and in the evening — I basically don't have to eat outside when I stay there).

Some people use this form to give themselves free Hilton Gold status by entering a fake Visa Infinite number, but I'll leave the ethics of that up to you: https://www.hiltonhhonors.com/landingpages/VisaInfiniteGold.…

        • Thanks Obi-Wan. Now have Gold Status with Hilton :)

To access the free upgrade, breakfast etc can you book with Hotels.com, RatesToGo etc as they sometimes are cheaper than Hilton direct, and give your Hilton membership no. when checking in to get the perks? Or must you book direct with Hilton?

        • +1

You need to book with Hilton direct to get the perks, unfortunately. That said, it's actually pretty rare for a third-party site to be cheaper than hilton.com — if you do happen to find a cheaper rate (that's viewable by the general public), book the same room at hilton.com, then within 24 hours submit a Best Rate Guarantee claim. They then should price match the cheaper rate and take a further $50 off your bill.

        • I mean if I use Expedia.com with a 10% Coupon I can get a rate that is cheaper than Hilton direct.

        • Their Best Rate Guarantee excludes the use of coupons on external sites, which sucks, but the perks should still make up for that 10%. :)

        • Thanks :)

The website seems to have some idea of why it is expecting the card number to be… Any clue what one might start with if I was to own one? ;)

      • RatestoGo 15% off- Totally Agree with you there.

The Starthere Cashback for Hotels.com is only listed as 4.5% as a Base Membership (instead of waiting to go Gold, then Diamond, the Black). Better off using BuckScoop for 5.4% off from the get go IMO.

Also have yet to find a 10% Hotels.com Valid coupon that works on the Australian site (so as to avoid the Currency Conversion fees, etc for those without a 28% MC, etc) as Hotels.com usually have some exclusive Hotels like eg. Bellagio in Vegas at 20% on which you can combine a 10% coupon sometimes.

Wouldn't touch Otel, DHR, (MetGlobal) with a 10 foot pole. Only have to do a google search on them and their partner sites to see why.

As for the others agree with you there.

Much respect for the Hyatt deal you scored :) Which Hyatt was it our of Curiosity if you don't mind.

        • For Starthere, anyone who was a member of their previous site Moneybackco got given 'Founder' status, which gives a higher cashback than their other tiers — so 6% for Hotels.com for Founders. But yeah, Buckscoop is definitely a good alternative.

There was an Australian Hotels.com coupon back in July, but nothing which I'm aware of working right now unfortunately: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/hotels.com

I was weary of Otel too (their site seemed a bit dodgy at first glance), and read some of the negative comments about them before booking, but the rates were too good to pass up, and I figured there wasn't a huge risk because I could get refunded through a credit card chargeback if anything did go wrong. I emailed the hotels (both Radisson Blu brand hotels) a few days before staying (everything checked out OK), and I had no issues during my stays either (room type was correct, and inclusions like breakfast were given).

The Park Hyatt was the one in Wash. D.C. — name obfuscated a bit, just in case their social media team is monitoring things — I'm still a bit guilty about the rate I got! :P I mean, with all the inclusions they probably lost a bit of money on our stay, but to their credit the rate was never mentioned once, and the service was impeccable. :)

    • The HotelClub coupon you mentioned has expired.

  • +3

Just quietly, I successfully used the take15off code last night even though it expired a few nights back.

    • +1… beaten by 23 seconds… was just about to comment myself that the take15off coupon was still working. :)

  • .

  • With the takeoff15 15% coupon that still works a few Hotels came out cheaper than anywhere else.

  • both takeoff15 and take10off are not working…

    • takeoff15 still works fine for me, tried just then (15% deducted at checkout) and this message give at search:

"Congratulations! You have entered a valid promotion code. Eligible hotels are identified below with a promotion code icon. You will need to select the hotel in order to see your savings."

      • it says "We're sorry, the promotion code has expired." is there any eligibility for the hotels?

  • Yeah. Unfortunetly its gone. Im sure it will be back again, and hopefully the 20% off one will come back to.
