  • The price is 179$ since long.
Heatsink is pretty thick, can it fit in ps5?

    • +9

Yep! I’m running this same SSD in my PS5

    • +2

I purchased one overnight and installed this morning on my PS5. No issue here.

  • +1

is this or the CORSAIR MP600 PRO NH 2TB faster? pro NH $5 cheaper but no heatsink https://www.amazon.com.au/CORSAIR-MP600-Gen4-PCIe-heatsink/d…

  • How does this compare with the recent lexar deal which was a tad cheaper?

    • +4

I believe the Lexar is dramless

      • This or the Lexar 4tb for $70 odd more for ps5?

Reading around it doesn't seem like dram or the slightly higher speeds make any difference to a ps5?

  • +3

    https://linustechtips.com/topic/1092033-ssd-tier-list/

These are considered tier A, which is on the same tier as the Samsung 980 pro, although the 990 pro is not listed.

    • You are right, this one has same performance also price as Kingston KC3000.

  • Would this fit a Dell XPS 15 9520?

    • +1

As long as you remove the heatsink it will fit.

    • +2

As @garetz said you'd need to remove the heatsink. If you are doing this however you'll likely have drive throttle under load, so getting a slightly slower drive (say 4-5gb/s) will be an equally good choice if you wanted something cheaper.

  • Any tips for what kind of external enclosure would be suitable for this ?
( to use as an external USB drive )

    • +1

Assuming you are willing to take the heatsink out, a thunderbolt 3 or 4 or a real USB 4 enclosure (up to 40Gbps) and even one of those would still be limited to PCIe gen 3 x4.

If you use an el cheapo USB 3.2 gen 2 enclosure, then it is a waste of the SSD. Again, need to remove the heatsink.

      • I am not looking for speeds per se,
but more about moving all my data from 2.5" spin drives
to smaller form-factor SSDs; Doomsday prepping!

I was thinking that if I was getting the SSD -with- the heatsink,
then I could use "any" enclosure and not remove the heatsink.

        • +3

For long term cold storage HDD are supposed to be better than SSDs

          • @Agret: spin-drive HDDs ?

I just thought that with SSDs, there's portability,
ie. I can quickly take a few SSDs
and put them in a shirt pocket,
            so SSDs can withstand vibrations.

        • If you want to keep the heatsink, you can only use enclosure with the cover on the enclosure not put back. Alternatively, use something like this:

          https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003430997074.html

      • I bought a thunderbolt 3 / USB 4 enclosure for my 970 Evo Plus. Damn that drive ran HOOOOOOOOOT and there’s no way I could fit a good heat sink in that closure, off course the closed up space in the enclosure doesn’t help with the heat dissipation neither.
Sold the enclosure to someone else afterwards. Can’t imagine how hot it will get with gen 4 drives

        • Thunderbolt 3 means the SSD runs in PCIe gen 3 x4 mode, even if you put in a PCIe gen 4 x4 SSD.

    • +1

I have bought and used pretty much every single external nvme enclosure brand, the only one that i haven't had compatability issues with is

  • Would anyone recommend another PS5 drive over this one?

    • +1

I bought one, haven't even gotten out of bed…. seemed like an amazing price 👌

    • From what I read and found this is about as cheap as it gets for 2TB PS5 drive at the moment. Others are faster but not in ways that actually matter for everyday use in the PS5, and I think this (like most) is still faster than the built in drive.

    • Probably not at that price. Nascompares does fairly in depth testing, he didn't have this in his top 5 or even as an honorable mention. His top selections were: Firecuda 530, Sabrent rocket 4 plus, wd black sn850, xpg gammix s70 blade and Nextorage nem-pa(can't find Aus stock).

  • Hey guys I have a 1TB Samsung SSD T7 external drive mounted on PS5, how much faster would this NVME be?

    • +1

So fast you could run PS5 games off it.

    • +1

You won't notice any difference for PS4 games but you can install PS5 games to this unlike your external drive.

  • +1

    Brilliant deal. Thanks

  • Bought one. Massive gaming sessions this weekend. Woooo

  • When I clicked the link it says $220 but there is a 'temporary out of stock' for $179 by Amazon AU, here is hoping they restock. I just ordered, they won't take my money until it ships.

I take it the PS5 talk is just regarding the heatsinks formfactor compatibility and it will work with other M.2 devices.

  • +2

    This deal is back again.

  • Worth forking out the extra $40 for this over the Lexar from BPC Tech for PS5?

  • Anyone use this in their PC? If so, how do you find it?
