Did you get a prompt to login to Internet Banking when you started the application? I have just applied for this card and the very first step was to fill in my NAB ID and Password and then a QFF number.

Throughout all pages of the application, there was a banner on the right stating my preferred credit limit, the reduced AF to $295 and bonus points of 120k.

EDIT: Actually I am not sure if 120k refers to all points in year 1 or split across 2 years. Now I am worried too.

        • As of today, it seems you get 90k in first year + 30k second year. I saw the banner during the application and clicked "more information", where they clarify what 120k actually means:

          https://imgur.com/a/5JvFPUj

  • It says " Offers not available in conjunction with other NAB credit card offer ".

I already have NAB rewards credit card. Would I be eligible for this offer?

    • I have the same issue, i asked if i can get the 120k points if i cancelled and re-apply and they said no.

    Doggy bank

  • Hey, trying my luck posting here. I remembered there is a website that you can record when you cancelled a credit card so that you can track if you are eligible to apply for a new credit card (that needs you not to hold the same card for the past 12 months). Can anyone remind me what website was that again? Thanks!

  • Shame the wait period is so long with this offer. 18 months is a long time between drinks.

    • Yeah I was an idiot and just burned the card. I didn't read the T and C's properly and thought it was still 12 months and here I am 6 months out with a card I need to cancel.

      • I share your pain :), now its a total of 30 month wait before I get points from them again

Able to open a NAB Rewards Saver in 5 mins, applied for the card right after with just a Medicare card as ID + 2 payslips, approved and usable in my mobile wallet within 19 hours, nice.

  • Im new to CCs, do you have to spend 3k every 60 days or just once in the first 60 days?

    • Once.

  • The application process was so smooth that it was a bit scary given my personal situations. I have a few investment properties plus shares and savings across different banks and just concluded loan refinancing. Applied 10 mins ago, got conditionally approved and now formally approved without NAB asking for any additional documents such as payslips or rental statements. Not sure if it's because I use NAB as my main transaction account for money in and out.

On the other hand, with ANZ… I would have to wait for 5 business days to be told that more documents are needed, then a few rounds of back and forth with someone based in India or Philippines to explain myself again and again, before finally getting approved after 20 days or so.

  • NAB has great credit cards and 120k points with 4k spend puts it above ANZ FF Black card for me. The only downside is upto ~45 days interest free. Most CCs have more generous period.

    • The interest free period doesn't bother me, but the 18 month exclusion period is a downside.

It seems like this deal is also available for new joiners as in getting the full 120K points even if you are not the existing client with NAB. I do not see any condition regarding having to be an existing customer of NAB to get the 120K points once the spending criteria are met. I am not an existing account holder with NAB and I was able to submit this deal through it. It appears that I get the full 120K points once I manage to spend 3K in 60 days. Am I missing something?

    https://www.nab.com.au/personal/online-banking/nab-internet-…

    • it seems the definition of existing customer is that you are applying via internet banking or app. So people can just open a saver account to get that

    • Redoing my post as I didn't read the fine print closely enough. (You can't churn from one card to another on the existing cardholder offers it seems.) EDIT Urgh - was right the first time - NAB treats Qantas and NAB Rewards exclusion periods separately, so go wild and get both (but separately with a couple of weeks between the two)! :-)

The best order to do things is:
      1. Sign up for a transaction account
      2. Do the 120K Qantas Signature card existing customer offer
      3. Do the 60K Velocity card new customer offer

      • The best order to do things is:
        1. Sign up for a transaction account
        2. Do the 120K Qantas Signature card existing customer offer
        3. Do the 60K Velocity card new customer offer

Are you suggesting to do this all in one go?

I'd be curious about responses to this. I've done two apps at exactly the same time before and had success. I suspect the important part is when the respective Banks pull the credit report.

  • Does myki topup count as eligible purchase by NAB?

    • Believe so, only gambling or gaming related transactions are excluded it seems.

      From their website

Everyday purchases exclude transactions NAB decides are wholly or partly for gambling or gaming purposes. NAB may vary or end this offer at any time. Offer is not available when closing or transferring from another NAB credit card account or in conjunction with any other NAB card offer.

      • what confuse me is that government fees are excluded from the qantas point, so It is not clear if Myki considered as Government agency as the merchant is Public Transport Victoria

        • Good point.

Transactions that don’t earn points include: Cash advances, bank charges, balance transfers, buying foreign exchange or travellers cheques, ATO payments, transactions where a cardholder uses a card to access linked transaction accounts, and transactions for gambling or gaming purposes.

I would just steer on the safe side and exclude Myki transactions then.

          • @firestint: or buying prepaid giftcard as a workaround, then use giftcard purely for myki topup. But you will need to go train station counter or 711 since self service machine doesn’t support swipe card.

          • @firestint: just received the first statement and come back to update on this. It’s seems myki top-up transactions does earn qantas point.

  • Couldnt open up a transaction/saver account online so had to go into a branch. Got it opened within minutes then upon logging into the app, I saw the offer.

Got approved within minutes and could add the card to my apple wallet so used that for a few uber orders already before even physically getting the card. Thanks OP!

  • I just booked some accommodation with the card on booking.com and got stung $29 international fee. Apparently if the merchant is overseas even if advertising the price in AUD you get charged a fee. I just assumed booking.com would not be an international transaction, assumed wrong. Pretty annoying for when you want to qualify for travel insurance and have to spend $500 on the card to qualify….

  • Third card I've been declined for in last month, very unfortunate as this would have been a good card, better have a break for a month or two.
    But great find OP

    • Check if you have missed any payments because that sometimes causes the decline.

      • How far back would a missed payment still impact?

        • Download and register for the ClearScore app which should tell you all the credit cards you have applied for. Also it will show which ones you have missed payments to. If you can see those chances are the banks will too.

          • @nightelves: I know the bank will see a missed payment. More interested in how much they will care. Say that missed or late payment is from a few years back. Any impact then?

  • how difficult the application approval?

  • Whats the best way to become a existing nab customer?

open up a nab classic account, its free.

I just spoke to NAB and they told me that the 90,000 points, 30,000 points breakdown is no longer actually a thing and they switched to all 120,000 upfront as of September 15th. I took screenshots all the way along to make sure that there is proof of the variation I was applying for. Hopefully no issues after 2 months.

    • Is that true? Just got an email for NAB loyalty saying I will only get 90,000 points in the first year. I actually applied after 15th Sept.

      • It's true as in its what they told me. It seems to be wrong as in I'm in the same boat.

I am currently fighting with them to get it changed to the 120k in the first year offer as that is what I applied for. I have screenshots all the way showing which one I was applying for.

        • Are you an existing customer? I actually have a NAB account, but still linked to the 90k offer.

          • @LuckyL: It was unclear. When I applied I didn't think I was, but had confirmed that I would receive the 120k without being a customer so went with that.

When I applied though the page after submitting said something like " we think we have met before" suggesting that they thought I was an existing customer. Either way, the side bar on the application clearly says I was applying for the 120k in the first year, and the important information on that page says nothing to disqualify people who are not existing customers.

            • @EBC: IT may not do a proper job. I also raised my case to investigate. Hopefully it can be fixed.

              • @LuckyL: Fingers crossed for both of us.

  • Reached the minimum spend in time for first statement, but no bonus points yet. 19 months ago when I last had this card they came immediately (and I even received an email notification of the bonus)

Anyone received bonus points yet? Am I gonna have to call these clowns (sigh)

    • +1

I just called because my preference is actually to not have the bonus points land until November for them to go towards my new Qantas anniversary year. Angel from the loyalty team (so not the generic helpline) said, as per the T&Cs, the points can come anytime within the next 90 days once the min spend has been hit, but from her experience they normally arrive with the second statement.

She also clarified that anyone who applied after the 15th Sep will get 120k bonus points in year 1 with $3k min spend.

      • So I didn't need to open a transaction account today after all. Figures. Oh well, what's one more bank account.

      • second statement, is it mean around 60 days since card approved

  • Would paying NSW car rego count for points? It’s not ATO but it is state government.

    • safer to use sniip

  • I don't currently have any NAB bank accts or credit cards but have in the past. I want to be sure I get the 120k points all in year 1, not not 90k in year one and additional 30k in year 2.
I have the NAB site open and prepared to open an iSaver account so I get the 120k in first year. However, the info on the application form indicates that I should tick 'existing' NAB customer if I've ever had a card/account.
So if ever having an account means I'm considered an existing customer for purposes of opening a bank account, does that mean I am considered an existing customer for purposes of this credit card application? And I don't need to bother opening a new account?

Sheesh, the things I'll do to make sure I get an extra 30k points in year 1.

  • Anybody else finding it increasingly hard to get a credit card application approved?

I can't even get a $2000 limit card despite having a $15k credit in the past and clean history with solid income.

    • The process possibly feels a little more annoying, but I haven't noticed any unusual difficulty as a churner.

    • It absolutely will be shortly. Banks are tightening to covid levels, they see storms coming.

CBA for instance is suspending all balance transfers in a few weeks, and already have 0-day-interest-free terms on transfers now.

Macquarie still won't issue new credit cards at all (unless packaged in a home loan).

Expect approvals to tighten up drastically by the end of the year and, I suspect, a lot of the good deals / terms / interest free balance periods / etc to vanish.

  • +3

    Has anyone received their points?👀

    • Met spend a few days before first statement, got statement today, no bonus points on statement.

Some of my transactions weren't eligible for points though. Should i assume they won't count towards the spend?

      • +2

As a general rule they wouldn't count.

    • +1

Met spend first statement, didn't get bonus (unlike last time with same card)

    • +3

Got points on my first statement. Unless they have fixed the issue, you may need to call NAB to get your Qantas number linked as this card is notorious for losing your Qantas number in the application for some reason. Last time I got it, I called and they knew of the issue and had to manually link the card, then I got the points on the next statement.

      • Did you get the full 120,000 points?

        • +3

Yep the full 120k + points earned from spend.

So if you have definitely spent $3k on eligible transactions, I would contact them to confirm whether your QF did link correctly or not, as that seems to be an issue they might still have.

          • +1

@doweyy: I didn't receive bonus point on first statement, but received the point earned from spending and already transferred to the QFF. So this shouldn't be the issue in my case. Might need to wait until second statement to get the bonus point then..

            • +1

@kokoikaka: yeah same. Really not looking forward to having to call these idiots again…

            • @kokoikaka: Exact same situation with me, will be keen to see your update next Statement to see if 120k bonus points land.

          • @doweyy: Btw did you get an email notifying you when you hit spend target for the bonus points? I remember getting one of those last time I did this card.

            • +2

@z0s0: Apologies for the late response, no I didn't get any notification or email when I met the bonus, just came in on the first statement as follows:

Qantas Frequent Flyer points earned this month
              Visa Standard Points 3193
              Visa Bonus Points 120000
              Total Standard Points 3193
              Total Bonus Points 120000

NAB is just useless sometimes when it comes to QFF bonuses, I've had some rotten luck in the past and had to follow up multiple times to fix it.

    • I just got my second statement today and received the full 120,000 points!

  • Am I eligible for points if I hold a Citi card, given Citi is now NAB?

Apologies if asked before - I scanned three and did not see this asked.

  • +2

I think this is the best QFF card offer at the moment (if you follow the "existing" customer path), marginally cheaper (Bonus Points / Card Fee) per point than the Westpac (existing customer) offer. ANZ seems a distant 3rd to me.

More broadly I think the HSBC Star Alliance offer is better given there is no AF and the gold status, but I think there's value in getting both if you can

    Fair assessment?

    • +1

Thanks for pointing out this deal. I didn't know about it and reckon it's good value.

      • Not sure if you're referring to NAB deal (this deal) or the other HSBC deal I linked to, but I reckon they're both good value :)

  • +2

I have received the full 120,000 points. 🙏

  • +3

Received the bonus 120K on the second statement even though I met spend in the first. Second statement had $0 balance, but 120K bonus points in there so all good.

  • +1

120k bonus points received. In addition to points earned from normal spend. Hit the spend required in the second month too

  • If I have a NAB Low Fee Platinum Card, that doesn't receive NAB Qantas Rewards bonus points, I should be able to apply for this card and be eligible for the points?

This bonus Qantas Points offer is not available to existing customers who have received or are entitled to receive NAB Qantas Rewards bonus points for a new personal NAB Qantas Rewards credit card in the eighteen months prior to the opening of a NAB Qantas Rewards Signature Card or NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card.

  • I just casually got 15k points wtf

  • +1

i applied for this, thinking i wouldnt get it - current CC limit is $8k, and i thought even applying for a card with minimum 15k would be a definite "No"
Now i'm conditionally approved for a $50k limit .. wtf? Assuming it completes, I'll immediately drop that down to minimum again, but it's just a bit odd and surprising….

    • holy crap - they approved it at 50k ..

      • Partner applied for the lower tier card - $6K credit limit. She hasn't submit the payslips yet and 2 days later got approved.

  • I am 1 month shy of my 18-month period. Hopefully the deal would still be there by then :)

  • Can anyone confirm the offer is still for 120k points in the first year for existing customers?

    • -1

Why don't you click the link to see the promo? Full disclosure right there.

  • How long the bonus points will come through after $$$ spend? Getting ready to cLose the card

  • From NAB

If you've got a bonus point offer, your bonus points will be credited within 90 days of meeting your spend criteria.

  • Anyone cancelled recently and got back the prorata annual fee?

    • Would like to know this also.

    • +1

I didnt get any refund. Tried xvia the chat service and said no refund if closed account less than 12 months since getting the card.
If held the card for more than 12 months and then cancel, will get the refund (so will get the refund for 2nd year)

      Closed mine this month

  • Sorry for silly question, will i get the bonus points if i recentley have closed Nab Rewards card?

    • Yes.

I've applied for both cards last year - less than 3 months after closed one. Got bonus points from each card without problem. Been doing that several times in last few years.

You can see in the T&Cs that they only mentioned the cool down restriction applicable for Qantas Rewards cards.

  • Anyone know how long it takes the points to hit your account after you've hit the spend minimum?

    • Generally in the coming statement.

  • Anyone know what income you need to get approved on this one?

  • damn. did not read the terms and conditions.

received points for NAB Qantas Rewards Premium Card and now i was told i wasn't eligible to receive the points for this card.

would it be better to cancel the card immediately or wait till the end of the life of the card as i've already paid the $295 annual fee?

    sad

  • Any one tried buying Giftcard from Nab Qantas Signature card? Apparently, it's declining all my transactions of buying Coles Master Giftcard digital card through Giftz. Any workaround?

    • Had the same thing happen to mine. Just give their fraud department a call and they can unblock for you.
