  • I have this. Bought for $276 in March from a deal on OzB. It's great!

  • As a renter without a dryer, this was a godsend. Until the internal pipe cracked and leaked all over my floor. Good thing amazon has a good return policy.

  • I noticed it says it uses a compressor for dehumidification. Does it use a heat pump? Does this have a cooling effect on the air as well as dehumidification?

    • +1

No, it will warm up the air a couple of degrees which is good if you have wet winters, not so much wet summers. We've had the previous model since around 2013, recently had to replace the control panel which I got the factory to send me from China cos ausclimate weren't holding parts for older models. The factory didn't even charge me.

      Great unit BTW.

  • How is this compare to Ausclimate Dessicant type Ausclimate Cool Seasons Premium 10L Desiccant Dehumidifier - AU1910DD https://amzn.asia/d/9Po3KXr?

    • Dessicant probably adds more heat to the room. Performs well in cold weather (eg winter humidity).

Compressor is the opposite and works better in warm humidity.

    • Dessicant dehumidifiers are more efficient in cold climates (and also use more electricity because they literally heat up the dessicant, that's how they work), whereas compressor dehumidifiers are superior for warm/temperate climates. Read this:
      https://ausclimate.com.au/blogs/dehumidifiers-posts/compress…

The break-even point is at approximately 20 degrees Celsius.
