50% off Single Vineyard McLaren Vale Chardonnay 2023 12-Pack $132 Delivered ($0 C&C SA) ($11/Bottle, RRP $264) @ Wine Shed Sale

SINGLEVINEYARD

A new single-vineyard McLaren Vale Chardonnay in time for the warmer months!

Region: Adelaide

Vineyard: This wine is sourced from the Lot94 BSR VIneyard owned by Bec Hardy in Blewitt Springs, McLaren Vale. The dry grown vineyard was planted in 1993.

Soils: Deep sandy soils from the Holocene era (11,600yrs old).

Winemaking: Night harvest to retain fruit freshness. Grapes were destemmed and pressed immediately. Juice was then transferred directly to barrels for fermentation followed by partial malolactic fermentation for added complexity. The wine was bottled after 5 months maturation in seasoned French oak hogsheads.

Nose: The nose has a hint lifted stonefruit and melon.

Palate: The palate is a lovely balance of rich, creamy white peach fruit and fresh citrus acid. Subtle brioche notes from the oak influence complement the mid palate with a crisp, dry finish.

Winemaker: Bec Swincer & Bec Hardy

Cellaring: Drink now to 2027

Are there cheaper Chardonnays (2023) at our local liquor stores? Surely you can get 12 packs for 50 dollars :S

    • +2

      Of course you can.
You can also buy shiraz for $5 or $1,200.

this is fermented in seasoned oak not stainless so already some added expense in the process and some malolactic …. wondering what the 2023 vintage is like compared to 2019 and 2021 ? liked 2019 and 2021, powerful wines ….

      • @garage sale Point well made. Also, low yield, dry-grown vineyard in Blewitt Springs - not inland, heavily irrigated regions cropping 10 tonnes to an acre!

2023 certainly the most challenging vintage since 2011. Frankly though, if something wasn't up to a specific standard from any vintage Bec and I wouldn't put our name to it.

        :-)

  • Sounds lovely. When I drank I loved a Chardonnay that had under gone mlf.

    • +1

Yes, the red persons white wine :-)

      @imnotgoingtopayrrp your software must be tee-total. :-)
Certainly haven’t received any such suggestions from other users. RD :-)

    • Never had this issue, just like their wines, always very good.

      • @omblygombly thanks for the kind words. I had thought for a moment it was because I had posted this deal from China where I am at the moment - had to scramble to get a couple of folks back in Oz to also make sure everything was fine. Have a great weekend. Cheers! RD :-)

  • Thanks, just ordered :-)
