Anyone know if this runs on dual rank?

    • Yes I would like to know too

    • If these are Micron ones, they are dual rank (assuming SpecTek is basically inferior bin Micron).
SK Hynix ones, not sure (guessing likely also dual rank), sold all my SK Hynix based DDR4-3600 RAM modules.

  • could this be a better deal??
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Patriot-1x16GB-3600MHz-PC4-25600-S…
    Capacity: 16GB(1x16GB) Voltage: 1.35V; tested frequency: PC4-25600 (3600MHz), tested timings: 18-20-20-40
    $95.45 free delivery

    • That set is CL18 whereas the above post is CL16

    • SK Hynix CJR die. More relaxed timing. If all you care about is DDR4-3600 and don't care about the timing, I guess you could get them.

  • I have a 5800x CPU and x570 motherboard, shall I buy this or 2 of this https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0957X19RN/ for $107.7

    • Looks like DDR4-4000 CL20 RAM (likely to need to run at 1.4V). Probably Hynix DJR RAM. Unless you have some special needs which benefit from running DDR4-4000, even with very loose timing, it might be best to avoid.

      • thank you.

      • ordered the patriat 4000Mhz before I asked advice, To later to cancel yesterday, received today. Did a test, can not run at both XMP profile 1 & 2 even with one ram, very dissapointed, have to return to Amazon.

        • Return is a good option. If you really want to try, set the FCLK frequency (infinity fabric) to 1800 MHz first. Also, if you are not on the latest BIOS, upgrade to the latest BIOS (but make sure you are using stable RAM setup when you upgrade, maybe your exisiting RAM modules).

Normally, if you really want to go DDR4-4000, you would go for Samsung B-die kit and even that doesn't mean it will work (since if infinity fabric is set to 1:1, it is quite tough).

  • Is it worth spending an extra $35 (Including shipping) over a standard 3200 CL16 like this? https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07N3TXFFX/ref=ox_sc_ac…
Just need a dual kit for a mate who only has a single stick currently lol

    • Depends on his setup, for low cost setup, like Ryzen 5600, it may not be worthwhile spending more on DDR4-3600.

Might be better for your mate just to get another single stick, unless he only has a 8GB stick and you believe dual rank setup is very important.

      • Nah, better off just getting a new dual stick kit.
The single stick he got with his MSI prebuilt (Which he bought in 2022) is a single 32gb stick of cheap, DDR4 3200 without a heat spreader. Most likely find it in business PCs, so the fact he was given a single stick for the price he paid is criminal.

He's definitely leaving a fair chunk of performance on the table without dual *channel memory.

I reckon the 3200 CL16 is the way to go, he plays on a Neo G9 and doesn't do any OC or memory intensive tasks so doesn't need the extra few % in performance.

        • Only if he plays certain games and have a quality GPU. Some games don't benefit from dual channel much.

Also, DDR4-3200 CL16 is really no big deal. 2x16 = 32 so he won't get more RAM and it won't be very noticeable if he doesn't game a lot. I know on my B550, 1 DIMM boots faster than 2 DIMMs (and that's using XMP and cold boot). Don't over sale the benefit of dual channels to your friend, especially if he is not tech savvy.

    • I have 8GB and thinking about a cheap upgrade to 16 or 32GB.
Any idea if this can downclock on business motherboards (Dell/HP desktops that can only do 1.2V)? My HP Elitedesk compatibility only shows it's compatible to 1.2V sticks.
Anyone has experience running these in business desktops?

  • Can I run it together with Kingston Fury Renegade RGB 32GB (2x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz?
