    • I used to wear my Apple Watch in bed. Trick is to put it on charge for a bit just before sleep and when you shower in the morning too. iirc the original Apple Watch would last all day and night on a single charge, but maybe I remember wrong.

    • They say 18 hours but lasts more than a day easily including sleep tracking

The OP of the merged thread invited thoughts on the release of the newest iPhone.

    I have none.

It is an event of total and complete irrelevance to me. I could not be more uninterested and disinterested.

    • -1

      invited thoughts
      I have none.

      You are thoughtless !!!

    • Cool story bro. Then why are you even here?

  • +5

I think the Apple share price reflects just how much of a fizzle this was.

Nothing really groundbreaking, people are holding onto their phones for longer now and turnover is reducing dramatically.
Not to mention $2k for a phone is ridiculous.

    • Not to mention $2k for a phone is ridiculous.

      $1,100 after tax deduction…

      • How?

        • Claim on form

    • If they hold their value, I don't know what the fuzz is all about… I use 11 pro from launch and there is still trade in value for about $320 for that, if you're going to sell it on spambook might get even higher.

      • Funny thing is iphones only depreciate marginally better than samsung galaxy's

  • +5

Apple going on about all these features for the watch except for battery life, which arguably is one of the most important factors.

I personally won’t consider an Apple Watch until it has a battery life or at least 5+ days. Fitbits sense 2 or similar is much better IMO until apple can improve battery life

    • +4

its hard to bring up fitbit when the functionality is on another level.. if you just want fitness + sleep tracking apple watch wont even be a consideration price+battery wise.
partner has a fitbit and it seems shit other than for just the fitness function.

      • I realise they have less features however they can still view text messages, answer calls etc so still have some level of phone integration

    • +5

Agreed, Garmin Fenix has more functionality and far superior battery life.

    • Apple Watch until it has a battery life or at least 5+ days

I think that's why they have the ultra even though it's two days of battery life

  • -1

    Apple Watch Ultra 2
    US Price: from US$799.
    AU Price: from A$1399

    1 USD > AUD 1.75

    • +3

US price doesn’t include sales tax, Australia does

    • 👆🏼 ditto

  • Guys, I would be appreciated if I could get some suggestions.

    Should I get iPhone 15 128G ($1499) or the iPhone 14 Pro 256G that has a 11% off sale on amazon??($1697)

Or maybe I should just wait for a bit? Will there a bigger deal for iPhone in recent?

Was trying to get a Samsung because of the trade-in bonus…However I don't have an Australia ID to make the trade, I guess I have to end it up still getting a iPhone since I got a ton of apple products that I can't escape.

    • +2

120hz of the pro is worth it

      • Thanks for the reply!
Do you think $1697 is a good deal? Should I wait for a bigger deal?
Or should I wait for some giftcards sale to get a iPhone 15 Pro 128G for around the same price?

        • Its good deal and ask for people around they are selling gift cards for 10% off but not sure how legit they are

    • Just go 15 pro. You're already spending cray money. Go big

    • What sale link?

  • So overall with pro the only change is titanium body, action button , 5x zoom and what else?

    • It is not Samsung. By this statement, decision should be done straightaway.

      • +1

Are people still doing this Apple v Samsung obsession? Its 2023.

        • Folks still pipe up about paying their ATO tax debt in every Apple GC deals.
          So, let d*ckheads be d*ckheads.

    • +2

    • Faster processor. USB 3.

      • fast charging?

        • Faster than what was already offered with the USB C to Lightning cable? If it was capable I'm sure they would have mentioned it.

      • Now you can play Genshin Impact 20% faster. It already runs it at 120fps on the last gen iPhone. Faster processors in a smart phone have reached a stage where it is irrelevant now. There's only so much you can achieve with a 6 inch screen and a touch interface that is limited by the precision of your thumbs.

  • How do we justify singapore and australia iphone prices? iphone 15 pro max 256GB singapore $1999 and australia $2199.

    • -5

      AUD poo poo'd

      hasn't been easy under albanese

    • +3

What's there to justify? $2199 AUD is $1919 SGD. Aus is somehow cheaper lol

      • +2

this reminds me of the time when my close friend was moving to the UK and she was asking me if she should buy an iphone in Australia or the UK.
She said its 700 in the UK so it would be better to get it there…

She did not realise that we have different currencies.

        She has a medical degree?????

    • iPhone 15 Pro & Pro Max - the natural titanium color isn't bad but once again they refuse to give us any of the shades we've been asking for.
    • iPhone 15 & Plus - pastel colors again. guess we gotta wait more for the vibrants to come back. no vibrant blue since the XR and iPod 7. no solid purple since the 12. Heck, imagine how well a hot pink would've sold right now thanks to Barbie's hype. Jony Ive wouldn't have missed that.
    • Watch Series 9 - we finally get a pink! now it's possible for us to do a blue + pink dual gift combo for some couples instead of the usual black/silver + gold/silver combo.
  • So the 15 has usb2.0 and the 15 pro has usb3.0.

Both come shipped with a usb2.0 cable. No fast charging either so still at 20W.

    • +5

Including a USB 3 cable would blow out the $2,899 cost

    • +2

Why do you need fast charging when you cannot exhaust the phone battery in a day even if you tried hard? I just put mine on a really slow 5w wireless charger overnight. My battery is still at 99% after a year of usage.

      • My battery is still at 99% after a year of usage.

Must be a massive battery to only drop 1% in a year!

      • This is e way..

  • +1

Cool tech in the new iphone, but the mobile network still makes voice calls sound like a garbage fire full of bees, and bluetooth audio tech hasn't figured out how to fix the awful quality audio in "Handset mode" which we're all forced to use the femtosecond the microphone turns on, making my music sound like a second garbage fire full of bees.

It's honestly a testament to how far phones have come: Making quality phone calls on them is really an afterthought at this point.

    • +5

Have you ever had a hearing test?

      • LOL Funny you say that I got one this week actually, along with an eye test @ specsavers. Hearing is fine for my age, I have slight tinnitus in my right ear though which could be managed with meds but it's not annoying atm.

  • hmmm should I get the new ultra 2 or a series 9 stainless

    • Series 9 stainless looks better imo, a bit more refined. If you have small wrists get the small version.

      • but I need big screens so I can see the display lol

  • Tossing up if I want to get the iPhone 15 Pro 512GB, but $2,400 is a big ask and coming from Samsung, quite a few changes there.

Definitely not getting the series 9 watch, next will be 10 (or X?) and I'm sure the design will be new/fresh.

    shit show without jobs

    • He sequenced his whole genome before he died. We may be able to clone him one day, or at least train an AI and recreate him.

  • +1

    This is interesting https://www.macrumors.com/2023/09/13/all-iphone-15-models-su…

Adapter to output 4K60hz HDR on all iPhone 15 models. I guess you can think of it like the Switch dock, so you can play those AAA games they talked about on your big screen, and on the go. With the $180 backbone, or any bluetooth/USB C controller, it's basically the ultimate Nintendo Switch Pro, except there's not many console games for it yet. But if Ubisoft and Capcom can make money with AAA games on iPhone then there will be more games over the years.

  • +2

The new USB‑C connector lets you charge your Mac or iPad with the same cable you use to charge iPhone 15 Pro. Bye‑bye, cable clutter.

    New?

While everybody else has been enjoying cable clutter free phones for years and years and years and the cable clutter has been forced by Apple.

    • Judging by the downvotes. Some people are probably still sad they had to ditch their 16 pin cables.

  • For regular updaters, its better to upgrade now even with minor upgrades. As for now if you resell iphone 14 PM for $1600 you will get that amount. Down the line after an year you can get iphone 14 PM new for $1600 and your old one will go for $1000 so de-values quick. Chuck in $600 extra and update it to iPhone 15PM.

  • No white iPhone 15/plus? novel colours..

  • +2

    This may help someone out.
No idea when they will adjust pricing… but

I just called Officeworks and they price beat Amazon's price for
    Phone 14 Pro 256GB Space Black $1,698,
as Officeworks has it at $1797, So I got it for $1,613.10

:Edit: I didn't realise that JB has it for 1899, and they do 10% price beat vs Officeworks 5%
:Edit 2, Im sleepy: JB price match, they don't beat.

Was on hold for 30 mins+ but here's JB's cart if someone has giftcards etc

    • idk if its worth getting that now. the base 15 ($1500) only thing missing is the 3rd camera and 120hz screen, the missing usb-c tho..

  • Still not able to purchase? is this normal, that the pre-orders open later than schedueld?

    • 10:00pm AEST, so 11 hours from now.

      • D'OH thank you saved me some clicking.

  • I always see people complaining about iPhone prices and why it’s a ripoff.

Why I think my iPhone is worth what I pay for it.
    iPhone have replaced:

    1. GPS navigation units
    2. Music players
    3. Portable video players
    4. Full internet experience, hardly use laptop.
    5. Complete social media experience
    6. Camera for both still and videos

I purchase iPhone outright and use it for at least 3 years. Also, claim it under my tax. Selling after 3 years or passing it on to a family member is always easy and smooth process. iPhone just works, no issues and no glitches.

A $270 boost yearly sim is more than adequate for my usage for whole year.

    • +6

I always see people complaining about iPhone prices and why it’s a ripoff.

Why I think my iPhone is worth what I pay for it.
      iPhone have replaced:

To be fair, all those features can be found in most modern smartphones too.

    • again can someone expand on this tax thing with phones, why did my tax agent never mentioned this? is this specific to only ABN holders? and how much can you claim per year is it divided or is it all at once claim?

  • -3

Best phone on the market used to be 800-900 dollars 4-5 years ago. Now it is over 2k.

    • +1

      More like 10 years ago

    • what world u living in????

  • +4

Bet you any money now that Apple has started to use USB-C, all the other copy cat phone makers will do the same like they always do. Typical 🙄.

  • +1

Never thought I’d say this but I’ve been surprisingly very happy with my 13PM. I’m gonna order a 15pm today for some of that USB C goodness.

If this wasn’t a business expense I don’t know if I could justify the ludicrous pricing but my 13PM is a damn good phone.

    • -1

ahh how do you make it a business expense? what kind of business do you do like ABN? can an employed person make it a "business expense"?

      • Haha sorry can’t help with that.
        I legitimately run a business.

  • i watched a video where it mentioned that iphone 15 base vs 15 pro, the 15 base comes with last year's OIS while the pro has the new second gen OIS

im on 11 base 256gb, apple shows up to 379 trade value idk tho mine has some scatches on edge where its showing the metal part, which is weird coz mine has always been inside a case.. would they still pay me the 379? on ebay i can see it going for 450-500 tops but idk if its worth the extra hassle

  • over 2 month wait to get iphone delivered. wtf?
Showing 28 Nov delivery date for pro max 256

    • You need to order it as soon as the store opens if you want to be in the earliest delivery dates, otherwise you need to wait for the later stock

I was on there at exactly 10pm and my delivery date is 22 Sep

      • nice one.
oh well its next week or nothing from me so i save myself 2200

    • @Aap Ke Papa - Blue and Black are available for delivery by 25/10 if you don't mind those colours.

I also feel like it will be available for pickup sooner. Unless you desire USB C, there isn't much reason to upgrade over the previous models in my my opinion.

      • Usb c sh*ts all over lightning. Well worth the upgrade.

        • For 99.99% of people having usb c instead of lightning will make literally no difference in their lives

        • +1

@WreckTangle -Completely agree, it’s the main reason for my upgrade.

But not everyone cares about it and most people will probably wait till the 16 before upgrading.

      • The last iphone i owned was back in 2007.
Been android since. I do hsve the entire Apple ecosystem except the iPhone.
Thought I'll try iphone but the wait is too much.
Ordered anyway. Might cancel the order closer to time.

  • Remember when you had people line up for days outside the Apple Store on release date? Hilarious.
