  • It's been as cheap as $205 before

I know, and I wish I had bought it back then, but this is a good enough price for me.

    • I paid $299 Dec 2020. Feels like an Ozito tool… kind of gets the drill press bug out.

  • thanks OP

  • Great little units for the price

Completely unrelated, but I remember seeing a video where they made guns illegally in the Philippines using drill presses. Every time I see one it just reminds me of that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4qwK1KgL_s

  • LOL how great was it!!! I was browsing for a bench drill last night as I am in need for one. Order placed, thanks heaps!

    • I literally said to myself about 2 hours ago while trying to drill something at a right angle that I need a drill press. Log on here and it's right there…

  • Oooo, I need a drill press, but something a bit meatier ….. Very tempted on this one

Edit - whoops 120v, must be set to US site …. my bad

LOL I did look at this one last night and when I looked at the shipping cost, no thanks!

      Nova Voyager perhaps? ;)

      • I’m so tempted to get a nova Viking drill press but can’t justify the costs lol.

  • I have an Aldi's knockoff version. absolutely love it. changing speed and adjusting depth are game changing.

    • I had considered the Aldi version but they have never come up at the right time for me.

Coming from 40 years of using the cheapie belt driven types I am really looking forward to the ease of speed, depth adjustment myself.

  • I paid $299 for this from a Lightning deal a few years ago and was happy with that price. It's actually a really nice design compared to anything else in the price range, build quality is good, perfect for a home/hobbyist workshop. Wouldn't use it for day in day out commercial work.

  • As much as I want this I don't think I can justify to my wife that this belongs in our two bedroom apartment….

  • Personally I'd look at Gumtree/Marketplace for a heavier duty used drill press before buying something new, the tech hasn't changed drastically in 50 years, nevertheless this is a fine unit for the price.

disagree. variable speed without belt changes is super handy. Especially if you use a mix of materials. Previously I'd be too lazy to change the belts between metal and wood and drill everything that the wrong speed. I find this unit super handy, my only complaint would be the wheel is a bit clunky when you've got a lot of travel to get through, I end up having to reposition my hand half way. Though I've seen folks on youtube swap it for a more traditional multi-arm thing.

      • Been thinking slapping a steering wheel knob on it might be a quick and easy solution the the wheel.

        • Oh, great idea. I'd not considered that. Might try 3D printing something to suit.

          • @rusteh: Yeah, got one from this deal, been meaning to print something since then :D
At least I got around to adjusting the laser, the crosshairs on mine were out slightly.

  • This will be a nice upgrade from my handheld but I need a decent project to justify buying one of this.

    • Buy now justify later

Build a bench to put it on!

  • Wow, this is even cheaper than what I paid in 2021, $274. I have used it multiple times, and no regrets for having bought it..

I ended up buying a drill guide. The ones on Amazon from big gator are around $50
Ended up saving a bit of money.
If I have a genuine need in the future for a bench drill press I’d consider it.
But can probably make do with the drill guides in the interim
