Buy 3 Get The 4th Tyre Free (Ecopia & Turanza) @ Bridgestone

760

Came across this deal hunting for wheel replacements as I've somehow bent the rims of mine and treads running low - looks like this one is back for the month

Alternatively Black Friday is ~3 months away and maybe you can try your luck with myCar and their 50% off Pirelli's (it was bit of a fiesta the last 2 years they've held it though)

Same as the "Buy 4 Get The 3rd Tyre Free" deal.

  • I expect the same from Michelin for Energy XM2+

  • +1

Is it really a bargain if tyre sales and tyroola sell comparable kuhmos and such for less? Even after paying fitting and balance fee

    • +2

      Bridgestone > kuhmo

      • +3

Normally this is correct but Ecopia & Turanza == Khumo.

  • +4

Bridgestone Serenity Plus are great tyres!

    • +7

      SERENITY NOW!!!

    • I gave up on the Bridgestones after reading too much data and went for Falken instead.

But, value = price/longevity + safety + noise + comfort (multiplied by how much they concern you)

      • How does the ecopia fair? What's better around the same price?

  • No love for Potenza?

    • Potenzas are a step above into the performance category. The Ecopia and Turanza are both general road use options.

  • Is Pirelli still a good brand?

    • +2

      Yes

      • I was told otherwise by someone working at Tempe Tyres, the person rated them "mid tier tyres". They don't carry Pirelli so gave me Hankook run flats instead.

        • +11

Oh wow, they don't sell Pirelli and sold you Hankook instead. Who'd a thought!

          • @antman: He also said it wasn't because they don't sell them but Pirelli's quality has dropped over the years, and I believed him.

        • +13

Salesmen always talk down products they don't have available to sell you.

        • +3

Different tyre models from a single brand can differ immensely in performance and not to mention, purpose. It's not as easy as asking if an entire brand is good or bad, especially an established one like Pirelli. You want to be asking if a tyre model is good in comparison to other similar offerings from other brands.

I've had three different Hankook tyre models on two different cars and they were in my experience much worse than the Pirellis I got for the purpose that I was looking for.

How do people decide to replace all 4 tires at once?

    • +5

You're meant to replace all 4 at once

      • In the past, the pink slip guy has told me, for example, 1 tyre is cooked with low thread and needs to be replaced

Otherwise, 1 tyre might be punctured beyond repair and need to be replaced while the other 3 tyres are all fine

Would you spend $800 replace all 4 in this setting?

        • You should at least replace them in pairs. Otherwise you end up with different grip and overall diameter on the same axle. Not good for handling and not good for your cars differential either.

If you have an AWD car then you should replace all 4 at once to not put extra load on your centre diff

Unlucky if you get a puncture like that.

Ideally you rotate your tyres so you don't end up with one that is cooked

          • @Boioioioi: Thanks for the advice.

I replaced the worn out potenzas on my car when I bought it with 4x pilot sport 4 that had been pulled off a new porsche for $100 per corner.

It's hard to find such a deal on short notice though if you need to replace them urgently (for example with a puncture)

            • @Save Medicare: Nice deal! Yeah that's true. What sort of car do you have?

If it's just 2 wheel drive I see no issue just replacing a pair

    • +14

Wait, you can replace your car's tyres?

Fark! I've been buying a new car everytime

      • +2

That's a pretty good way. I go on wish.com and buy tyre knobs and crazy glue. This year I'm making penis shaped thread pattern

    • how do people NOT decide to do that?

the car needs equal traction on all 4 wheels to be safe on the road

    • What's your plan here, replace one at a time after the steel belts come through +10,000km?

    • +2

Assuming you have proper wheel alignment and have been rotating your tyres regularly, all your tires should wear at a similar rate — therefore, you'd have to replace all 4 of them at once.

      • How often am I meant to align my wheels?

        • At the same time as the planets

        • +1

Not based on distance or years.

If your car doesn’t pull to a side and tyres are wearing evenly you shouldn’t need an alignment.

          • @JimB: You don't align worn tyres you balance them. This is a common con with places..

Bridgestone offers free rotating and balancing for the life of the tyres. Every 5000km you rotate and balance.

My understanding is, if you exceed 5000km then they don't offer it for free.

My car offers the same thing I think.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: Sorry champ but that is total bs, you don't balance your wheels every 5000km, that's completely and utterly ridiculous, I've never heard of anything more absurd. And Bridgestone don't balance your wheels for free every 5000km, it's a rotate only. Balancing the wheels has nothing to do with tyre wear or extending the life of the tyre. If you're not experiencing any symptoms of an unbalanced wheel then you don't bother getting anything balanced outside of when the tyre gets installed.

              • @howcan: I just did the buy 3 get one free 4 weeks ago and the guy said it's free balancing, punctures and rotation every 5000kms

                • +1

@[Deactivated]: Balancing is only needed the first time fitting, they put weights on to make it spin evenly. Unless a weight falls off, it's not required.

Why would it be free puncture repair at 5000km? No one perfectly plans a puncture every 5000km. I think you misheard.

                  • @placard: See it more like a maintenance plan I believe. If you take it in for inspection, rotation, balancing etc etc then you get free puncture repairs for the life of the tyres. If you miss one then the maintenance costs. That's my understanding.

            • +1

@[Deactivated]: I never said you align the tyres.

I said (your car) doesn’t need an alignment if your car doesn’t pull to a side and tyres are wearing evenly.

No need to balance your tyres every 5,000 unless you have uneven tyre wear or vibrations. It doesn’t hurt to do it but every 5000 is excessive.

  • +1

hmm just in time for my car i need to replace four tyres at 40k kms

  • I feel like Pirelli is a more prestige brand than Bridgestone within the top tier. Which one would you guys go with for light SUV tyres between these 2 brands if they were the same price?

    • Recently bought Pirelli for med sized SUV, liking it so far. Cant comment on Bridgestone though, never got em.

  • Can I mix and match to get a balance of durability and performance?

    • to get a balance of durability and performance all 4 need to be the same

      • +1

But what if I'm always turning left

        • +8

then you can totally get 3 ecopias and one potenza on left front wheel for extra thrill in your left turns

          • @shabaka: Get them to alter the alignment so you don't have to drive like a sucker! Get the car to drive to the left for you!

        • +1

          Are you a nascar driver?

      • +1

I think you only have to pair left and right, so you can have different tires front and back.

Can anyone recommend good tyre replacement for the 5th gen Toyota RAV4? Looked into the Ecopia model, they seem to be a budget option with weak performance in wet conditions. Currently running stock tyres and nearing 80,000km (I believe they are the Bridgestone Alenza) however they seem to be a lot more pricier compared to the ecopias… Keen to hear any feedback.

    • Same situation. Rav4 87k Stock tyres are amazing. Need replacement soon. Dont think can hold off till Black Friday.

      • I'm genuinely considering replacing with the same tyres, they've served me well and have excellent performance… Just a bit pricey… Was hoping there might be a comparable version for less available. Looked up Ecopia reviews and they seem OK and are a tailored moreso for fuel efficiency but that comes at the cost of poorer performance (especially in wet weather conditions) and lesser tyre life compared to the Alenzas (which, again, lasted me easily up to 80,000kms)…

        • +5

Considering they have held up and performed well for 80,000km… Spending the money for them is most likely going to save you money in the long run. 80k km's is an insane amount of time and the difference will be insignificant over years

          • @Phesto: Good point. Might stick with this make and model then. Cheers

  • Is Bridgestone > Hankook ?

  • Another option is the Dunlop PT3, if you are after a tyre which claims fuel savings. They are also 4 for 3 and are a couple hundred cheaper than the Bridgestone.

E.g. for 22560R17 from my locals:

    PT3 $717
    Ecopia $964

  • Check Costco, my size (225/55r19) came in around $100 cheaper - so even if you don’t have a membership you will still be in front ( and have a years membership)

Also take a look at the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 , highly regarded tyre.

  • how good is the warranty..they claim based on wear, they will even cover unrepairable punctures (upto 10% free, anything more prorated)

Does it comes with T&C such as rotating tires every 6 months etc. that will make it more expensive? Does it also come with stupid terms like if one tyre is gone, replace both tyres thus making you spend more money?

Anybody has any experience on this?

  • +1

Thanks, perfect timing needed the tyres replaced on my car, grabbing 4x Bridgestone Serenity Plus :D

    • +1

Definitely rate these. Used on a Mazda 6 no traction issue or noise

  • +4

    Shit deal for robin reliant

    • Doesn’t look like they go that small, nothing available for 145/70R12 or 145/80R10.
Looks like your only options according to Tyroola are Chinese brands such as i-Link.

    • Replace the spare as well.

  • 50% price hike for simlar buy 3 get 4th free deal in last 3 years which is insane.

    • $20 price increase… Shop around 🙂

We just got 53,000 out of the turanza ER300.

Now got Ecopia on and it's now a sportscar! Hahaha it's super fast at accelerating for a HRV! Grip is good too.

  • No free wheel alignments ;(

    • +1

      Wheel alignment is never free

      • They used to have free alignment with these offers

        • With Bridgestone? When was the last time you saw that? This buy 3 get 4 deal is quite frequent and I never once saw free alignment being offered

          • @foxes28: I had to pay for alignment - $40 from Bridgestone. They were the cheapest and most others were $79.

            • @[Deactivated]: Yeah afaik alignment is never free. I've seen them ranging between $60-$80 from different stores.

          • @foxes28: Can confirm; I had to pay for alignment for mine for a similar offer ($10 for fourth tyre)

  • +1

$220per tyre for 225/55/18 Bridgestone Ecopia

imma stick to my trusty Winrun R330's

  • +2

Turanza Serenity Plus are awesome tyres IMHO. I've been using them exclusively for the past 10 years or so. Quiet, comfortable, solid handling, and on the Falcon I just sold had 4 sets of these do over 90k kms each (my driving has been about 75% highway). Only issue was getting noisy toward the end if not rotated consistently.

  • Any recommendations for a 245/55r19 for suv?

  • got a quote for ecopias for a Hyundai i30, even with 3 for 4 it came out as $747 which is not worth it for me at least

    • +1

I just got 4 for $600 for a HRV. Michelin primacy 4 was going to be close to $900.

      • what size for the HRV?

  • Stacks well with the Coles Vanilla giftcard offer. Bridgestone offer split card payment which means you can spread your tyre payment over 3 x $250 gift cards.

  • Is this deal actually any good?

I saw tempe tyres are doing the Ecopias for CRV at $220each whereas it's $234each at Bridgestone with the discount.
