Save the $35 gpu cost; if you intend to game, even lightly, find a used 1050ti.

They often go for around $100, often less.

A 7th gen cpu with 16gb of ram isnt really a slouch for 'last gen' AAA games, dont criple it with a gt710.

      The form factor though

    • Unfortunately it's more like $200 for a (second hand) low profile card. You could maybe run a full height one with the side panel off, but that's a bit dodgy.

    • The Intel HD630 integrated graphics is actually better than the GT710!!

      https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GeForce-GT-710-…

You'd want at least a GT1030 for games. Unless you are lucky enough to find one of the magical $100 GTX1050 mentioned above.

    • The 35 dollar gpu's use would be for the extra display outputs.

      • Will it fit a 7900xtx 🤔

        • If there's a will there's a way (a dremel).

You can finder it cheaper for better configuration on ebay.
Note: these ones dont have HDMI ports

  • @MetroCom

Would one of those GT710s work in a USFF like a M920Q, if you could find the correct heatsink / PCI-E adapter?

  • Any chance you have any ssd for sale? I see you have m.2 style but no regular ssd.

Trying to revive a mac mini, thought preowened might be a cheap option

For reference, you can pickup a 256GB for $20 brand new in Amazon

They are Dramless though. Its for a boot drive

        • I guess it depends how heavily used the mac mini is - I've installed dramless ssds in heaps of PCs (for basic use cases mind you) and haven't had a problem

        • Boot times between SSDs with and without DRAM are pretty much identical, it just doesn't matter.

@Nom: Isnt it more that they deteriorate faster and turn to shit?
Plus the cheap ones seem to have pretty high failure rates

    • I think these PCs have m2 NVMe slots, as well as SATA 2.5" or 3.5".

  • Hi @MetroCom are the display ports DP++?

    G'day.
Pretty sure I have an old low profile 1650 gpu and one of the younger kids would like a pc to play simple stuff like Roblox and Minecraft.
Which of the above should I look at, if any.

    Thanks in advance.

  • How many PCI slots do these have? can I drop in ethernet cards like this that come with the shorter bracket.? https://www.amazon.com.au/2-5GBase-T-Ethernet-Controller-Sta…

    • 3 low-profile including for GPU. So yes.

  • Is this one of those tiny PC form factors? Any with 512 SSD instead?

  • What drives can be added to this? I had a look through the manual and it looks like it supports the following:

    1x M2 drive
    1x 3.5" drive
    2x 2.5" drives

I'm guessing the SSD occupies the M2 slot (please correct if wrong), does that mean 1x 3.5" and 2x 2.5" drives can be added?

    • Okay, looks like it's actually 1 of each slot. In the manual, the 'primary 2.5" drive' and 'primary 3.5" drive' are fitted into the same slot, the former with an adapter.

  • @MetroCom any link to upgrade to 32gb?
