Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 256GB - $1649 (RRP $1949) + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

290

Looks to be a great price, $300 off the RRP for each storage size. The Samsung Employee store is only $100 cheaper than this for the 256GB model.

512GB - $1949
1TB - $2349

EDIT: Looks like it's also the same price on the Samsung Store - https://www.samsung.com/au/smartphones/galaxy-s23-ultra/

EDIT2 : Looks like the deal itself isn't as good as I first thought - however the thread has some great options to get the phone for a lot cheaper!

man idk, I paid about 1500-1600 at prelaunch with free S care+ and watch for a 512 model
    ++150 is Samsung rewards
    + $150ish in Cashrewards

    • +3

Fair call - I've been watching for a few weeks to get one and they've been up RRP for a while now though. Definitely has been cheaper in the past, but think it's the cheapest at the moment.

      • +2

        I hear you!

It's probably the best deal ATM but not a good deal in general.

    • Would the s24 have a similar offering?
      I can wait for then

      • Both s22 and see have had good offerings

    • +3

Similar for me $150 in rewards (got a nice SSD), Plus $134 TRS, Plus $105 CashRewards, Plus $172 Samsung refund for slow watch delivery :). That turned into a nice bargain.

    • +1

There was a deal for 1200 in March thru Amazon too, but don't think it's been that since then

    • How did you get your Cashrewards approved? I couldn't get mine given I used vouchers

  • +4

    Seems really expensive

    • $1649
Looks to be a great price…

Gawd damn it. Just bought a pixel 7 Pro 2 days ago and hate it. Coming from galaxy since the s6

    • +5

That was the other phone I was contemplating - what's wrong with it?

      • +1

I've used both newer Samsung phones and also the P7 Pro. I'm guessing its just a preference thing. Vanilla Android on Pixels has its limitations, like not being able to create folders in the app drawer without using a 3rd party launcher like Nova, which is something I miss. I have Nova, but just dont want to use launchers anymore, and wish Google bothered putting in more damn effort into their OS rather than treating it as the 'basic' build for all other OEM's to sprinkle their fairy dust all over and improve by a mile. Then there's Samsung, with its mandatory apps that just bloat the damn phone, and you cant remove them unless you use ADB. Urgh. Just give us what we want. Just. So. Frustrating.

      • +2

Battery life. That's it. The pixel is perfectly fine and actually quite great. But sadly having a terrible battery life actually does matter a lot in deciding a phone.

      • +2

It's the little things. The side bar on the galaxy devices is a great invention. I use it way too much and now I miss it. Also, I can't put my apps in different folders on the 7 Pro without moving them to a home screen. I don't want to do that. I want to group my apps together when I flick up.
Guess I'll just have to get used to these issues. Would have liked a Galaxy. But paid $1210 for the 512gb at JB and then used 15% off gift cards that I've been saving to bring it down even less

500gb storage cost Samsung price $400. 500gb sd card. From $20 to about $60. Really tired of this ripoff that Apple started. Same for no 3.5mm jack for headphones. So that hope you buy their buds that cost 3 times the price of a decent pair of corded headphones and which last a third the time .

    • Use the cloud more, it's not coming back.

    • There is no way a sd card will perform the ame as the storage on the phone, if you could add an sd card it would slow the phone down.

      • +1

It wouldn't slow the phone down unless you are recording 4k video, and even that is fine using modern cards.

There's no need to have photos and app downloads on superfast storage

        • -1

UFS4 is nearly double the speed of UFS3, unless your card is UFS4 it would slow down.
If there is no need for faster storage why would they do it? There is probably never a need for a computer to go faster but it is convenient to have them do so and once you are used to that speed you wouldn't want to go back, you would notice the lag.

          • @Spendmore: It wouldn't, that's simply misinformation.

There is nothing wrong with having the OS and apps on the faster internal storage and the bulk media on external / pluggable storage.
The only exception to this, and it's an edge case, would be browsing the media on the external card.. only if its a slow card and only if the app your browsing with doesn't operate from a thumbnail library.

The only way it could be an issue is if it were possible to install apps on the slower storage.

Saying the whole phone would run slower for having an SD card in it is rubbish.

            • @virtual81: You added in the whole phone bit i was referring to anything being read from the sd card (not an edge case) would slow down the phones response, as you agreed.
Kind of like using a slow usb drive in your pc…..wouldn't you agree…again😁

          • -1

@Spendmore: I've installed and run apps off external storage on Android before, there is no noticeable difference. If the processing speed and RAM are fast enough don't get lag unless you are doing something that directly writes to disc.

            • @greatlamp: If it was a good card then there wouldn't be a difference as they were both UFS3 but you would notice with UFS4 using a UFS3 card.
I don't think a sd card capable UFS4 phone exists.

              • -1

@Spendmore: I think you are missing that unless you are writing to disk there is no difference. The file is loaded in RAM.

                • @greatlamp: Android flushes ram and puts apps to sleep all the time.

    $1549.00 at Costco.

    • Great find! That's cheaper than the Employee store

  • I am happy to get S22 Ultra but have no idea why its still so expensive considering S23 ultra is out now :(

    • It was under 1k at some point

    • Do you have a device to trade in? Samsung have a $200 bonus trade in credit that ends midnight tonight. So $1599 - $200 - (Your Trade) - $50 Newsletter Discount - 10% Loyalty Discount.

  • Pretty meh deal. Was much better before:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/samsung-galaxy-s23-ultr…

I am surprised that Samsung did not try to under cut Apple before iPhone 15 release. Does that mean iPhone 15 series will be much more expensive?

    • Rumours are that its expected to be at least $50 more expensive than last years models.

    • +1

It involved some hoop-jumping, but the deal in March was much better - $983.20 for me, plus $25.02 cashback and $200 for reselling the Galaxy Watch4 that was bundled. Some lucky people even got another $50-off coupon, bringing the price down to $933.

  • I just paid $1349 with the $300 " tradein" on samsung.com

    • +2

Yeah was just about to comment that the $300 trade in bonus also applies. Expires 4 September!

      • Thankyou i will try harder next time. welcome voucher didnt work for me end up buying two the grey and red for mom.

      • How did you get Shopback given you are using vouchers?

  • Same price on amazon

    • May I ask, if the system allowed you to use the trade in discount and the loyalty voucher together?

In my case it only added up one of either discounts. i.e trade in or the loyalty voucher.

    • What's the 250 samsung promo? And how did you get the 10% loyalty voucher?

        • Thanks for the tip. Is the process to complete the trade in via the app first, then purchase the phone via the website, and the bonus will apply?

          • @Jebediah_Kerman: If anyone else is wondering, completing the process in the trade up app gives you an id. Which you can apply to purchases in the Samsung store online. Doing so gives you the applicable trade in bonus.

    • How did you get 10% loyalty voucher?

      • +1

Go on their live chat and ask politely. They’ll ask if you have a Samsung device, say yes and just make up a few devices. Some people have reported that they’ll ask for a serial number but I wasn’t asked this.

        • Tried this just now but no luck! Jumped on the chat via one of the s23 product pages if that makes any difference.

I remember doing it a while back but from a different part of the Samsung site.

    • +1

Thanks - I just paid $1185 through a combo of 10%, trade in and newsletter voucher. (can't work out how it came to that number, my sums show $1169, but oh well) Was going to spend $1649 earlier today! Thank you sir.

Ended up buying the ultra 512GB Green for around $1486 from the Samsung Au store. This includes Shopback cashback and trade in discount. I know this has been cheaper previously , but I didnt want a phone then and had been waiting for some time for the prices to go down.

Details of the transaction as below.

    RRP = $1949
    Trade in discount = $300
Galaxy watch trade value = $5 ( I know this is very less, and hoping I can get away with not sending it)
    Welcome discount voucher = $50
    Shopback cashback (4%) = $56.09
I had some Samsung reward points from a previous purchase = $51.49

    So total came to be 1949 - 300 - 5 - 50 - 51.49 - 56.09 = $1,486.42

In all happy with the purchase.

    • You will love it, great phone.

  • Any idea of how often they discount this on a 99 dollar plan? I've seen a few listings. Hoping it's a very regular thing to still get a very cheap handset as long as the monthly plan price is high?

  • -1

    Is the fold also discounted?

  • ive been trying to sell mine unopened for $1100 for months

    • When you have a brand with frequent discounts, voucher codes and hacks like you are reading here, it’s really no surprise why Samsung devices are worthless in the private seller market.

  • +1

A $1649 phone is considered a bargain nowadays.

  • -2

How is camera on this? Wife's S22 ultra is not great when zoomed 100mp

    • +1

100x zoom will never be good on phones, just an electronic zoom, the rest is marketing hype, if you want that amount of zoom with anything close to clarity get a DSLR with a good long range lens, you cant cheat physics and just keep CSI enhancing/zooming a photo.

  • Looks like they've extended the 300 trade in bonus till 20/9

    • Where did you see this? I'm on the Samsung site and it still says offer ends 04/09

      • You're right, I read the below from here: https://www.samsung.com/au/smartphones/galaxy-s23-ultra/buy/

Get up to $600 in bonus value
        Get $300 off RRP4, plus $300 bonus trade-in3.
        Offer ends 20 Sep 23. T&Cs apply

and thought the entire offer was 20/9, however the bonus trade in superscript 3 seems to show 4th September.

      • +1

Just some tinkering to this! I added this to cart + my phone for trade in +$50 newsletter subscription voucher and ended up getting it down to $1,139.00

Saw this on the checkout page
Your $300 trade-in bonus has been applied to your Galaxy S23 Ultra along with your eligible trade-in device value. $300 trade-in bonus promotion ends 20.09.2023.

So looks like the $300 trade bonus is still valid - unless I'm mixing things up here haha

  • What's wrong with Samsung Store? Ordered in the morning still "waiting for approval"
    after so many hours.

    • Mine says awaiting dispatch in one spot, shipped on another.
The expected delivery date keeps changing, sometimes showing dates in 2022… No idea when I'll actually get it

      • Just got off live chat - they said that because it's a custom colour, it needs to be produced and will take 3-4 weeks to be delivered! That's quite frustrating considering it made no mention of it during the order process. I would have picked a standard colour if it was going to be such a long delay. Can't make any changes now either.

        • which custom colour did you get? I got the graphite online exclusive and asked for click and collect (there's a samsung store nearby) I got awaiting dispatch > arrives store pick up 08/09 > 3. Shipped

          • @sam1t: Graphite as well.

My current estimated date for online order is 7/9 - but that date keeps changing.

@The Hobo: Have got tracking notification from Startrack with ETA of tomorrow!

              • +1

@The Hobo: Great to hear! I was getting the same response you got and they confirmed product is available just waiting for courier to pick it up. Fingers crossed I get another update soon :)

  • Just wondering has anyone here had any experience in using a foreign passport for Trade In with Asurion as proof of ID? I don't have either an Australian passport or driver's license that the website is asking for :(

  • What do Samsung do with the phones they receive through trade in ?
