My first post so be gentle!

With the recent update on posting Choice stores, I am finally able to post this beautiful piece which i copped a while back.

It is a Rolex Datejust Homage and is, in my opinion, the most visually stunning piece in my collection with it's beautifully finished fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. Very, very shiny and just amazing to look at.

Here are the specs:
Crystal - Sapphire Glass
Diameter - 40mm
Band width - 20mm
Case Thickness (Stainless Steel) - 12mm
Seiko NH35 Automatic Movement (accuracy between -20 / +40 seconds per day)
Screw Down Crown
Cyclops Lens
Luminous hands
Water resistance - 100 Metres (10Bar)

Price will vary with the colour chosen. Options are White, Gold, Blue, and Black.
Price for the cheapest (White) is US$48.21 - US$5.00 coupon + $4.82 GST, Total US$48.03( ~AU$74.70) delivered.

As always, pay in USD using a debit or credit card with no international transaction fees.

This deal will end at 5:00pm AEST tonight, as will be all the current AliExpress coupons/deals. Though it's likely that this could be similarly discounted for the Choice promo at the start of each month.

Sorry in advance for the late post as I was unaware that the guidelines for AliExpress had changed until recently.

    Like the car?

the gold dial one is so gaudy and I NEED IT SO BADLY fffffff

    • +1

The lack of Anti-Reflective coating makes it even more gaudy than you may think ;)

  • +2

accuracy of -20 / +40 seconds per day

That's not very good. At least it's shiny.

    • +1

NH35 will be better than that, wouldn't worry.

      • Yep. Both of mine are within 10 seconds per day.

    • +1

For what it's worth, I got a Steeldive SD1970 with the same NH35 movement and the accuracy is +8 seconds per day.

    • accuracy of -20 / +40 seconds per day

      So they tell me

That's not very good. At least it's shiny.

Yet Seiko netted over 5 billion last financial year.
Punters rewarding mediocrity? What a world!

      • Seems the post truth world is full of lucrative opportunities

      • +1

No idea the relevence of profit in relation to poor timepiece accuracy.
        +/- 6 secs/day is good, +/- 10 is the limit. More than 20 & 40 is a bit of a joke.

I see some say they get 10, but the specs as shown are what some can expect.

        • It's just to cover their arse. Typically you'd get one within the specs you mentioned.
Send it back if it's not good enough.

Any decent watch shop could calibrate it but for that price people won't be expecting super accuracy (if you want that get a quartz).

Also it hardly matters if you rotate a few watches as you'd be setting the time every few days.

        • It means it's good enough for the many factories and micro-brands that buy their movements, so they quote a bigger accuracy range than they need to, to protect their reputation. Once the movement is in a non-Seiko factory, anything could happen.

It also means that even if the core Seiko product range is less profitable — let's say because of QC issues — their diversification helps the bottom line.

  • is this really a Seiko movement?

    • Yes it is!

      • I've always wondered if it's actually a Seiko (would have Seiko printed on it or sii) or if it's a clone of the movement). NH35 is for non-seiko watches generally though and have never had an issue.

My oris cost $500 to service and 8-10 weeks on Melbourne and those twats could only get it to +10s/day. Wish I didn't bother, could always replace the sw200 movement if I had to but oris make it so you can't order any other parts etc. Never again!

        • They should be actual Seiko movements as i believe the cost of producing clones would be higher than just purchasing the movement from Seiko directly.
Wouldn't be profitable for them I'd imagine.

  • For those who haven't clued on - these are a… homage? to the Rolex Datejust https://www.rolex.com/watches/datejust/all-models

    • +3

For those who haven't clued on

it was in op's write up? 3rd sentence…

      • +6

Are you suggesting members should read the description?

    • An homage is a design that's inspired by some earlier design; these are simply a slavish copy. They're probably even replicas without the counterfeit logo.

      • i think it can only be call homage if then brand makes something important (like movement). If this is seiko watch, then it can be called homage, otherwise like what boozed said. It is just a fake

  • +1

How easy/hard is it to adjust the strap on these?

    • Shouldn't be too hard. This will be my second Pagani Design and the first was a decent quality watch for $150. Buying this just for the lols and trolls.

    • +1

The removal of links is easy as these are screw links and it comes with a phillips screwdriver (a magnetic one would make it even easier).
Microadjust via the clasp is quite tough due to the lack of holes on the side of the clasp. Requires a tool like a sprinbar tool to release.
There is also a rolex-style easylink adjustment to add a bit of length and is quite easy to deploy.

  • What's the deal with paying in USD? How much cheaper does it actually work out to?

    • The price of the item itself is higher in AUD than it is in USD after conversion. Here's how much it would be paying in AUD:
      $78.27 - $7.50 + 7.827 = ~$78.60.

So you end up saving ~$4 paying in USD (with a transaction fee free card).

      • Ahh good to know cheers

    • +1

i used my bankwest transaction account card and it came to AUD$83.21, saving $2.95 (or 3.424%)

Thanks OP for bringing this to my attention. Could have saved $100's over the years.

  • +1

Damn you Ozbargain I said I won't buy cheap watches anymore! Nek minit……

    • +3

i think it will look good on you

      • I concur :)

        • I just cancelled the order. I noticed the hands are a bit short.

          • +1

@itsmoe: FYI they're longer than what the images show. See the reviews for their actual length.

            • @JiggyJiggy361: Yeh I did but still doesn't even get close to the hour markers. Their other watches are a tab better but then again this is super cheap. But I will pass.

              • +1

@itsmoe: No stress.. Plenty of other micro brands and affordable Seikos and citizens around.

Checkout this channel for some ideas if you haven't already:

                • @G-rig: I've got a nice little collection that I have got going in the last year, I have more of an addiction now but I don't want to buy cheapy watches anymore. Will have to save up and get a Grand Seiko soon hopefully.

                  • @itsmoe: Yeah can only wear one at once.
No point if they are sitting around and never worn. 6 get good rotation, 12 doesn't really in my experience but everyone is different.

Yeah the minimalist in me wants to trade up each time (one out a better one in etc). Depends what you want, can't argue with the quality for the price and probably 1% of the cost of a real rolex.

Would prefer one nice omega or black bay than 5 cheapies.. although the cheap ones are still way cheaper even if you got a lot of them.

Anyway you can't really resell these homages but can sell the Seikos, citizen's and casios if you keep the boxes etc.

    • +1

This one is also nice, got it a few years ago.
The lume is better than the typical Pagani, and it's pretty tasteful without looking like a blatant rip-off, and had the nicer clasp.

Edit: not sure I can keep all these as two 6 watch boxes are already full again, and trying to roll with a one in one out policy (got a Seagull coming).

  • +1

Looks like an exact copy of the Rolex Datejust fluted bezel for when you want to look like a baller! :)

  • +1

just bought the Rolex Datejust 41 copy. Thanks OP, even though i don't wear watches.

  • Has anyone ordered a Daytona version on the black rubber before?

    • +2

I haven't but have gotten the bracelet one. Generally, you're better off purchasing the bracelet version of these if available and then buying leather/rubber straps separately, as they'll likely be better.

      • thx man!

        • No worries. If you wanted a Daytona homage, here is the cheapest.
It takes off $3.50 with this promo so you need to add a ~.50c or higher item to also use BTS5 for the additional $5 off, like a rubber strap for example ;)
