  • Bupa has similar deal

    • I don't see this on the Bupa site. The current promo appears to be, 'Refer a Friend'.

12 weeks free is split into 2 years (after 1st month and after 14th month, 6 weeks each). The refer a friend i believe is $100 gift card per referral? saw the advert in-store.

  • The wait to qualify for this 'deal' is too long. No deal from me.

    • You can set the start date of the policy to the future as long as you sign up before the 31st. Doesn't seem to impact upon the date the 8 free weeks start

If you don’t tap your card 5 times during the month will the hospital turn you away?

    • +2

Not if you deposit $1000 into their account first.

and dont forget to grow your monthly hospital balance

Marketing exercise. Been in the industry for 30 yrs and NIB has emerged as the worst health insurer in terms of the lowest level of remuneration for its claiming clients. As a general principle stick with the not for profit PHI's (private health insurer's). Go to the health insurance ombudsman site to see the list of insurer's https://www.privatehealth.gov.au/dynamic/insurer

    • Yeah I just spent 20 minutes comparing this at same level vs what I have with gmhba and after saving 8weeks of premiums and feeling good, you're boned on inclusions and limits.

    • May I ask which one do you find is good?

  • NIB, hard pass

  • Not bad if no intention of actually using the policy (junk cover fpr tax purposes)

    • +1

You only need hospital cover for tax purposes. So extras are a extra cost anyways

      • Well, i just ruptured my Achilles and went to the ER in Sunshine on a Saturday night. The ER was like a warzone. I asked one guy how long he'd been waiting and he was at 4.5hours and still waiting. With no real option i was going to just suck it up. When i registered, they asked if i had private cover, which i did. I proceeded to wait for 7 minutes. I think i've been brainwashed but I somehow feel like 20 years of premiums was worth it. having said that, the doctor had no idea and came back and forth so many times it took him an hour to diagnose a ruptured achilles :-(. But at least i was lying in a bed and "being seen".

        • That’s right. I am only talking about extras cover here. The hospitals cover would be more than enough u less you have a dental / optical (glasses) to attend to.

  • Are TMJ disorders and procedures such as root canal covered?
