Is Citi staying or going. How are they still offering new sign ups if they are being absorbed by NAB. I was notified my Citi plus debit is being converted to nab next year. I still have a Citi platinum that I assume will be converted at some point

    • They are trying to merge across Citi to NAB. Attended the Investors Shareholders Conference when the Acquistion was inked.
Their aim is to fully incorporate Citi into the NAB Financial products.

      • Citi and Qantas premier both are part of NAB now, but maintain their own brands.

        • Not correct. NAB will cease using the Citi brand once the acquisition is complete. On track to be done next year. You can read NAB's statements to the share market about the acquisition. It's all public.

          • -3

@vetopower: That's excellent. Gives another brand to churn to. At the moment the St. George and couple of other are together, NAB grouped some other cards leaving afew avenues including ANZ, CBA and these mobs.

            • +3

@aparasher: It's the opposite of excellent. Once the Citi brand disappears, there will be one less brand of credit cards to churn in Australia. Bank consolidation has been terrible for points earning.

              • -1

@vetopower: Got it. I agree, but I am sure something else will turn up. Banks love credit card penalties.

              • +1

@vetopower: Still baffles me how the ACCC, despite pucblicly stating their concern for the future of the competition in the Australian CC market if NAB acquired Citi, still gave the green light to NAB's acquisition.

          • @vetopower: So will every Citi offer & every product disappear?

Extremely important to note re: annual fee:

$150 in the first year and each subsequent year if you spend $48,000 on eligible purchases or cash advances in the previous year. Otherwise $300.

So they're probably trying to make you keep the card for as long as possible and not just cancel it after 90 days, or make you pay $300.

    • Very easy to spend 48k with payall :)

      • Few more months only left.

        • +2

I thought as long as its setup as automatic payall oayment then it will still qualify for the free transfer (and earn you bonus point's)

        • +1

Fee free if you set up before October this year regardless of when the transaction goes through

      • what is payall?

      • Forgive my ignorance, what is stopping you from setting up a recurring payment to a bank account you already own?

    • +1

No, the first year is still $150 regardless of spend.

Hey CC gurus. What’s the max number of CCs that you can own before they start rejecting your application for having too many. I own an ANZ, AMEX and Latitude at the moment with 6k credit on each. A couple of month ago applied for ultimate reward with CBA and got rejected straight away. I thought to get that one and close two of my current CCs later. I have a good credit score, income and etc and haven’t applied for a new CC un the last 5 years. CBA gave me a sizable home loan less than a year ago and approval came in 2-3 days but rejected me for 6k CC last month. Does it mean owning 3 CCs is a red flag or I am missing something else?

    • +4

I had 5 simultaneous credit card accounts open last month. I think it's more about your available limit and your capacity to repay it should you max it out.

      • I think number of inquiries on your credit rating also affects it.

    • Shouldn't be tbh, I have 3 cc's and a recent mortgage. There are a lot of factors involved, including how much you make, household income, assets, risk etc

  • Anyone know what is the minimum salary needed for this card please?

    • +1

      Sort of:

"Please note that you must have a contract with a mobile provider and a monthly automatic billing arrangement."

  • so it would be only 50000 Krisflyer points?

    • what does 50K Krisflyer gets you?

    • i think this card and the prestige have a transfer rate of 2.5 not 3.

Can anyone confirm following…My read on Citibank T's and C's is that you can qualify for promo points on every single one of their cards - regardless of whether you hold another one of their cards?

I cannot find the usual clause from other banks which excludes you if you currently hold/have held a card in last 12 months…

So if above is applied, it follows that prior to October 31 is the time to smash out every single Citibank offer using Payall, and then just keep the best earning card(s) active as required.

EDIT: Found "New Citi Premier credit card customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers". So from what I can understand, you just have to not have held the specific card itself before - no exclusion if you have/do hold other cards…Off we go.

🤮 remember last year when it was 80k Qantas points and like $175 fee which I got refunded pro rata

  • What is worthwhile to use these Citi points for?

    • +2

Amazon, Wish, Apple, Bunnings, There's a heap to choose from.

You get a better rate converting to Flybuys and from there you can spend Flybuys dollars at Coles Supermarkets, Coles Express, First Choice Liquor Market, Kmart, Liquorland, Officeworks, Target.

I literally got my 150k points for this deal today and just converted to a mix of Flybuys, Amazon and Wish. Will pay off and close the account as soon as the first statement appears in the next day or two. I'll be asking if they will waive the annual fee on closure.

      • Interesting, so nothing flight or travel related?

        • +2

You can convert to Velocity or Singapore Airline points.

I'm not 100% sure on the conversion rates but I think it may be 1:1 Velocity and 2:1 or 2.5:1 for Singapore.

      • How long did it take to get them after meeting the spending criteria?

  • +4

Got rejected..held a virgin money too which I don't think they liked.. be warned

    • +2

I’ve heard of a few people getting rejected whilst holding another Citibank white label product, or having had 2 others in the previous 6-12 months.

I personally wouldn’t apply for any NAB/Citi/Citi white label product if I had had more than 2 in the previous 12 months.

      • +4

I had 3 cards (NAB Rewards, Virgin Flyer, Citi Prestige), no issues with the approval.

My missus had 2 (NAB Rewards, Coles Rewards) and got rejected.

Their overseas approval team is clueless, they don't know to read the standard PAYG payslip, don't understand super payments, don't know about salary sacrifice. For one of the cards, they even couldn't calculate the basic annual salary, as they repeatedly kept deducting both tax and super from my gross salary (even though annual salary was clearly shown on the payslip). After futile attempts to explain, they happily proclaimed that even my lower estimated salary is enough for approval, and I've got the card.

So I would say their rejections are random, depending on degree of cluelessness from whoever is assessing the application.

      • I closed a Suncorp and Virgin Money card the day before applying for my Citi Prestige. I closed a Commbank card 3 weeks earlier. I still held a NAB and HSBC. I was approved.

        • My bad luck then as I closed my Virgin Money the day before as well. Couldn't even get to the submit payslip stage.. bummer

      • I had NAB, then Kogan, and then just recently got approved for Citibank.

        • There you go, NAB and Citi aren't as integrated as I thought they would be by now.

I will suss out NAB's cards then

    • Insta reject here too ;(

  • just get the prestige

It says max rewards 200,000 per year. That includes rewards points earned from CitiPayall transactions ? Or 200,000 rewards for shopping plus 240,000(12x 20,000) for payAll I.e, 440,000?

    • include payall

        • OP was asking about annual total points cap, how's the quoted term to do with it?

    • I wonder if it includes the bonus points they give you?

    • No doesn’t include payall. 200k is from Normal everyday spends.

      • Where did you get the info from?

        • personal experience. Been earning 420k points just via Payall on one of my cards for past 2 years or so…

  • I have a Citi Prestige card. Am I eligible to get the bonus reward point with the premier card?

    • +1

      Yes

      • +1

Surprisingly I can't find any exemption clauses to the bonus points other than:

Fees and charges apply. Credit criteria apply. New Citi Premier credit card customers only and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offers.

So if you hold another Citibank CC, you could apply and be eligible.

        • +3

I have both and got both sets of Rewards.

          • @gadgetguy: Hi, I got a Citi Rewards card earning 70k Velocity opened in May 2023. I just wonder if I am eligible to apply and earn the promotional offer for Citi Premier now. So tempting to apply another Citibank credit card to increase my limit to use more Citi Payall.

Thanks for your help in advance.

            • +1

@Datran1501: Yes. I got the same confirmed on chat when I signed up.

Just do the same if you want written confirmation.

  • +1

Approved almost instantly, chat confirmed I can get the bonus despite holding a prestige card not long ago.

    • Any ballpark figures on the minimum salary required for this card?

      • No idea as my salary is fairly high and I already have 30k of other credit cards.

  • +1

    150,000 bonus points => $750 in GCs
    Net Profit = $750 - $150 = $600
Assuming card is cancelled before the start of second year.

    @Koipanda Does this seem right?

    • I just cancelled the card, after getting the points and they've raised a request for a pro rata refund of the fee, after I requested a refund.

      • +1

I have found that the refund of the admin fee isn't always guaranteed (i.e. depends if you get a good rep on the phone).

        • +2

I just got a $137.50 credit (11/12 of the fee). Two days after I requested it.

  • What's the best use of these Citi rewards points? It can be converted to Coles pts too I think?

  • Just signed up for this. Not had a Citi card before. Looks like the $7K spend should be easy enough to hit with the "Payall" feature - not seen a feature like this on a CC before.

  • Looks like there is no exclusion period of 12 months if you have had the card in the past. Couldn't find in the T&C's. Can someone confirm?

I had closed my Citi Premier card about 10 ago and want to apply for this again.

    • I think you're good. Call or chat if you want to confirm though.

  • If you have a Prestige, do you still qualify for this?

  • +1

This one has less perks (e.g. no Priority Pass, no interstate flight inconvenience) but is cheaper (75K bonus for $49 AF), so better value if you want just points/GC

Found answer - No you don't

      • Could I Pay All my solar installer?

        • +1

If they have a BSB and account number, yes.

      • All jokes aside, does it say you can't do this?

  • Instant approval from Citi/NAB which usually doesn't happen for me, atleast! Card also visible in my profile.
I currently have Citi Rewards open for 2+years and had Prestige earlier this year, closed back in Feb. And churned NAB Rewards back in July.
Steep spend requirement for SUB but it is what it is! I can't use Payall to meet the min spend as I'm currently maxed out on my existing Payall.

    • +1

I thought the max of$20000 was per account?

      • +1

when they launched back in 2021, the payall limit was 35k/month. And it wasn't linked to your card's credit limit.
My card limit is 6k; but my monthly payall is 35k/mo

    • Citi is great! Comparing to nightmare dealing with ANZ…OMG

      • -1

        100% agree.
I got charged with a foreign transaction fee on my ANZ Rewards Black Credit Card for a large purchase (just because the merchant was using a payment processor which was located overseas).

        As for Citi:

The Citi Premier® Card provides other benefits such as no foreign transaction fees, no limit to the amount of points earned, no expiration on points earned, free access to view your FICO Score, and more. You can also redeem your points for great rewards with the Citi ThankYou® Rewards program.

        • +2

These T&C's are from the US version of the card. Aus doesn't have FICO score nor Citi uses ThankYou branding in Aus.

          • @maverick1: Oops… My bad!
I should have paid more attention to the second statement.

  • Cancelled my Prestige card and next day applied for the premier card and was refused. Not sure which details I changed from the Prestige application that they would refuse me. Anyway just annoying.

  • Need some advise from the experts here.

I have Citi Prestige and ANZ rewards black then applied for Citi rewards that surprisingly got approved. Now I have closed ANZ black after churning. Question is if I apply for Citi Premier, will they approve me as this will be 3rd Citi card.

    • +2

Have got mine approved while holding NAB & Citi Prestige, but you never know!

    • had Prestige and ANZ Black (and a couple of other CCs) and applied for Premier. Approved.
Remember that 20K PayAll limit is across all your Citi cards

  • I see in the t&c's below to get the 2nd year fee for $150 instead of $300 to spend $48000 On eligible 'retail purchases and cash advances'.
Can anyone confirm if the monthly $20k payall counts towards the $48k, or does it really need to be 'retail' ?

Subject to your acceptance you will be billed an annual fee of $150 for the first year and every year afterwards if you spend a minimum of $48,000 on eligible Retail Purchases and Cash Advances in each 12-month period, starting from the date your Account was approved

  • Hi all - the Citi Premier card states "Citi reward Points are capped at 200,000 per 12 month period when you use your Citi Premier credit card on Eligible Transactions on Online Spend, International Spend and Domestic Spend."

I have just received my 150k bonus points - does this mean I can only earn another 50k points on top of the 150k bonus (in the first 12 months)?

    • There is no cap on bonus points which includes - signup bonus and points earned on payall transactions.
