Linux installed? Cant you just put an unactivated version of windows on it. Not everyone wants to deal with linux

    • +3

No can do - we provide instructions to install Windows yourself along with the Linux OS, but no one should be providing unactivated Windows OS anymore.

      • +1

        Ootl. What happened to windows?

        • They got overshadowed by a pay-wall

        • I think it is against Microsoft EULA to sell PCs with unactivated Windows.

  • +3

Looks like a 1U PSU to me. Good luck with the noise.

  • Anyone know how much this thing is shipped to WA? Checkout isn't updating with the shipping costs.

  • +7

I've had very neutral experiences with Techfast. On one hand they will look into your warranty but there's either something wrong with their parts or I'm very unlucky. I purchased a computer from them years ago, and although it still 'works', the graphics card (GTX 1660) failed months into the build. When I received it back from warranty it only lasted another month before failing. It's now an expensive internet browser and Microsoft Word machine.

    • +1

I got bad ram from them twice (the replacementwas also a dud). I then paid shipping to gskill to replacebut it was also a dud. I just gave up and replaced the ram myself.

      • That's honestly what I should be looking into doing. I'll probably end up buying a new graphics card and replacing it myself, especially given the experience.

    • +1

Neutral was the word I was looking for too!

PC I received was faulty. It happens. I considering getting TF to replace it but I didn't like some of the parts I saw. Brands I have never heard of. Didn't feel confident a replacement would last. So I returned it and received a refund.

If you really want a cheap price AND absolutely don't care about which parts you get then go for it.

      • Yeah, my 2080 super has issues I couldn't figure out so I replaced it with a 6700xt…. Rest of the build was fine….

Later used the 2080 in a linux build with parts left over from upgrading the pc a few years later…. Seems functional for most 2D and 3D applications, some game crashes could be old issues but hardly important for me right now(Wine/Proton isn't guaranteed)

Some things can be weird and temperamental or outright fail….

My 970 in my oldest rig is the king of reliability though!!!

    • I'd be interested to hear Luke's thoughts on this.

  • +2

    Hi Luke,

Any chance this can be purchased without a gpu?

  • Does the case have any USB ports?

    • +3

Via the ports on the motherboard, but not the case itself.

  • +1

It would have been a good offer but the upgrade prices are ridiculous, considering only 2 slots for ram and 1 for M2, you will have to replace them at some point which is a hassle and a waste.

  • +3

Love seeing an ITX build! Hope to see more of them!

As for TechFast, rate them very highly. Granted its a lucky dip on the parts, but given the price thats part of it. Got my current PC through them in 2019, had a mobo hiccup on arrival but they were great to deal with through the warrenty, getting it all fixed and sorted.
    Strongly recommend them.

    • +1

I love small form factor builds :)

    • @tekkrohnz: it's likely that he writes with good intention.

TESHFAST: kudo to brand & model #: no-excuse for not researching.
I would consider TF deals, but no-more than that.

Airflows: there's no case-fans, & rely on the CPU-fan & GPU-fan to dissipate heat: is this enough?

MINI-ITX: you are prioritising size at the expense of airflows, better-cooling, longevity & grunt…is this preference wise given that gaming-systems runs hot ?
Given all the up-votes: what am I missing here ?

  • +6

    Gainward Phoenix RTX 3060 8GB

    Is it a mini?

    • Sick reference, bro. Your references are out of control. Everyone knows that.

  • +1

Exactly what i was looking for. Does 550 motherboard include optical audio in this build?

  • Any option to upgrade to Ryzen 7 5700x?

  • Wait it's ITX?! That's a fantastic deal, even buying it just to transplant it to an even smaller case is worth it.

  • Hopefully this lasts long enough because I want one. I have been thinking about trying to do my own ITX builds with the 3060 single fan cards due to the lack of them in the market and this is definitely cheap from what research I've done. Back to the drawing board for me.

  • Is this suitable for video editing, like Adobe suites?

  • @luketechfast
What is the PSU? Any case fans?

Can the B550 take an M.2 (E key) Wi-Fi card? This was the closest I could find to the motherboard name: https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=1…

    Thanks

    • +2

I don't think you're going to get an answer about the psu. 5 different people have asked and no reply. Presume worst case.

      • it looks like it's based off the Allied Gaming ITX case offering which again has little to no detail about what PSU it's running.
        @luketechfast pls confirm

    • There's a high chance you'll get an Allied PSU. I received one with my last purchased from Techfast. Also M.2 E key will not work on this B550 motherboard. I have an MSI Tomahawk MAG B550 board and there isnt one.

  • +1

Just keep in mind that 3060 is a gimped version compared to the original 12gb, typical Nvidia bulls**t. I think the title should state its the 8gb.

    • +1

Was about to say the same thing. It's quite a bit slower.
      https://www.techspot.com/review/2581-nvidia-rtx-3060-8gb/
Still a good deal for a compact build, but if you've got the space the R5 5500/RX6650 XT deal posted a few weeks back is better

      • I have a nr200 with a 6800XT so Def possible to have a decent card in an itx build…just posted because there's a big difference between the 3060s and buyers should know what they are getting, good deal or not …🙂

  • Gainward Phoenix RTX 3060 8GB
If only it was the 12gb card

  • The 3060 mini's time has come!

  • +3

Is this likely to run Starfield at 60fps on 1080p medium?

  • This or a M1 Mac mini for video editing?

  • you guys don’t sell graphics cards only anymore?

  • Thanks! Told a mate about this who wanted a gaming pc for his young daughter and he bought it instantly. Great price for a little pre built.

  • Hi, i dont know much about gaming PCs, is this a good option for a beginner gamer who mainly wants to play Ark Evolved?

      • +1

Thank you, after searching for awhile i have just purchased

    • -3

      Best recommendation, choose other sellers

  • option to put 4060?

  • -3

    3060 is not good enough.

  • This is great being so small but Flex 1U PSU are not something you can run for years and years like you can with ATX or even SHX power supplies

    • +1

also probably bottom barrel PSU too so…

  • Any builds that don’t come with a video card? I have one that I’m keen to slot into a pre built machine

  • +14

The PC has 2 noob-trap components which I think I should bring up, for the folks who don't know hardware very well.

The RTX 3060 8GB shares the same name as it's 12GB VRAM sibling, but there's a double digit performance Δ between the 2 cards. Not only is the VRAM nerfed but the memory bandwidth has seen a downgrade too, and this has a fairly large impact on performance. Keep that in mind when you are googling or watching Youtube reviews for framerate numbers as the product name is misleading.

The Ryzen 5 5500 might also seem like a slightly slower Ryzen 5 5600, but it's performance is more or less equal to the Ryzen 5 3600 due to reduced cache size.

Whereas the 5600 is a Vermeer model, the 5500 uses the APU design codenamed Cezanne. In short, the 5500 is a 5600G with the iGPU removed and that means when compared to the 5600 you're getting half the L3 cache at 16MB and only PCIe 3.0 support. https://www.techspot.com/review/2494-amd-ryzen-5500/

It may seem tempting to upgrade the CPU to the Ryzen 5 5600 for an extra $55, however doing so won't increase framerates by much since the GPU is still the bottleneck and you won't get PCIE gen4 on the B450 motherboard either (you'll need 500-series motherboard for PCIE gen4)

    • +2

very good insight on this build. still decent for the price, but this really gives the full picture.

    • Also seeing comments about the PSU being a Flex 1U PSU which I would also avoid. it's not even an SFX size…

    • Great information. This budget build could be the pick who is not willing to do upgrade in the future and only needs it for casual games.

Very hard to find the small equivalent GPU fits this tiny case.

    • Good thoughts…

not to mention if you upgrade the motherboard the B550 version and the CPU to the 5600

I doubt they are going to give you a PCIExpress 4.0 riser cable.. this is usually another $50 to buy..

Having said all that.. its still a bloody good deal for an itx build and I have order one.. knowing all the potential issues..

Hopefully the wifi bracket is included.. and I can add my own M2 wifi card and antennaes onto the motherboard…

      https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/mb_overview_new.php?S_I…

      https://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=1…

      Loking at the value.
      CPU 5600 - $200 with fan
      Motherboard B550 itx (no wifi) - $150
      Ram - 2x8gb - $50
      500gb NVME SSD - $40
      3060 8gb itx video card - $350

pretty much $790 without the case and power supply with I have ordered for $813.95 including shipping..

That sort of itx case, with power supply (flex) and riser cable.. is going to be worth $100 - 300 plus easily.. to buy itself.. dependign on the quiality of each..

I reallyd on't kknow how they are making money

      • +1

That ITX case has no front or top USB port and doesn't look like it has front audio port(s). Motherboard, RAM and SSD prices in the calculation are both a bit too high. Also, do not assume all parts are local stock (some could be imported items (not from the major distributors)).

Linux OS pre-installed. That means, get a USB stick with Windows ready. Also, either additional certificate added to the BIOS for Secure Boot or it would run CSM mode.

        • you might be able to shave $20 off the CPU and $12.50 off the ram..
          and $10 off the ssd..

There really isn't any b550 itx motherboard available under $200 at the moment..
          https://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=b550+itx&s…
          which has wifi..

Also buying each item off the cheapest retailer.. usually is a killer in postage for the individual items..
Not to mention a pain in the ass troubleshooting if one item is faulty..

        • A lot of the minimalistic type cases, have few to no front ports..

When the machine is so small (6.5L accordining to the specs), there is no issue reaching around the back of it..

I am expecting all of it to be parrel imported etc.. but what isn't… so wrong they provide a reasonable warranty and there to back it up.. thats fine..

Most / nearly all the distribution in australia refuse to deal with the end user anyway.. and you have to go back to the retailer.. been there.. done that..as well..

          • @Kelvin: Looks like motherboard only has one USB 2 header. No BIOS update since May 2022 so make sure you are happy with AGESA ComboAM4v2 PI 1.2.0.7.

Assuming that B550 board has the wifi antennas, I am not sure I quite agree with the installation instructions completely. Those steps are okay if you have not installed the motherboard into the case, but if it is already installed, those steps can work for people who done Wifi DIY before. For non tech savvy people, those steps may not be the best.

Most / nearly all the distribution in australia refuse to deal with the end user anyway.. and you have to go back to the retailer.. been there.. done that..as well..

This is online based (so there will be postage involved) and is still different because most retail stores stock the main 4 (Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Asrock) and when you go through them, they can return to official distributors.

Also, ordinary DDR4-3200 RAM modules with likely subpar timing and cost effective PCIe gen 3 x4 SSD are fine if you can resist the temptation of upgrading them later on. I know decent ITX build cost money, but I'm not sure cost effective ITX build with somewhat compromised parts is the right choice. It feels like there is some FOMO (in terms of some cost saving) involved.

      • totally new to this and never built a PC by myself, so noob question: this PC doesn't have power supply, usb, hdmi port, audio output, wifi and ethernet port?? so I assume I can't order this prebuilt PC and plug in my monitor and using wireless keyboard & mouse and play?

        • +1

The motherboard has USB ports, audio ports, ethernet port (at the back). The GPU should have at least one HDMI port. Though the spec doesn't explicitly list a power supply, it seems unusual not to include at least an el cheapo power supply. However, since it is not listed, it is unsafe to assume one is included.

@luketechfast Could you please let people know whether a power supply is included in this deal?

Wifi, the listing says: does not feature on-board WiFi, even for the B550 board upgrade.

          • @netsurfer: @netsurfer: may be the PSU is not listed because tech-savvy people like yourself will critique it.
May be this link give some hint-> https://www.alliedgamingpc.com.au/product/allied-hive-custom…

It's great to see that TF has improved the brand & model transparency…still fall-short of full disclosure.

            • @ab c: I already bashed the other component parts. Thanks for the link by the way. So yeah, based on your link, assuming same OEM, looks like bottom of the pack PSU being included.

I'll doing a positive spin on it… at least that PSU will be quite light in weight. Or, you are not over-paying for that PSU.

  • +1

    ITX! UPVOTED!

  • +1

I'm glad you guys are finally doing ITX build, I think I asked on one of your post a year or two ago here on Ozbargain.
I already build my own start of this year so I may be late, but when I'm looking for a new system, I'm keen to see what you guys are doing at that time.
Also keen to see if you huys do any higher spec itx builds as there are thermal and space limitations.

  • +1

    Must… Not… Buy…….

  • Trying to order, just stuck on loading.
edit nvm, just takes a while
processing card payment for about 5 mins now.

  • +1

i haven't see the Power Supply in the specs ? So we need to order that as extra as well ?

  • Luke is deliberately dodging questions about the PSU spec and questionable reliability of the PSU beyond the warranty period.

    • +2

Best not to assume that because it is weekend at the moment. Most of us don't work on weekends.

At this price, it is unrealistic to expect a quality power supply, especially if it is based on PSU tier list.

      • I waited for a day to see if Luke would reply to questions about the specifications of the PSU. While he had time to answer other questions, he chose not to address the PSU-related spec queries. Hence the neg, otherwise this will be a very solid deal.

        • +2

a bit rough because has not got back to you in a day… and you have written off the whole deal witha neg without even knowing the answer. For the price, i would not expect anything great, infact probably be the Allied like brand. but for the price, I think it deserves a tick.

          • @jt0505t: Just a heads up, if the PSU fails after the warranty, it could be really pricey to replace. Making sure everyone knows!

            • @bbcw1980: Is PSU the only component that has cost cutting done? There are other cheapish PSUs being sold (and some aren't even that cheap).

Assuming it is the same as the Allied case, it is bottom of the pack PSU (okay, I'll be nice, the most cost effective PSU). Another way to think about it is that you are not being ripped off paying for a somewhat average but pricey PSU. If PSU is such a big deal, then getting a decent PSU and replace it yourself is viable since it is literally the cheapest PSU that's being charged for this deal.

              • +1

@netsurfer: We might have a 200 ~ 250-watt PSU that could be both too weak and unsafe. Since SFX PSUs are costly to replace, it'd be better if Luke could clarify this. I'd happily upvote this deal.

      • +1

Guess I was right after all.

  • sorry bit of a noob here

    1. can i confirm if a wifi card can be added to this?
    2. is it easy enough to change out the PSU? with many obviously having concerns about what is included, isn't it relatively straightforward and cheap to just install a better one?
    • +1
      1. No. You can only add a usb wifi.
      2. No. It won't be cheap to find a good flex 1u psu and techfast probably won't be using a good one.
    • +1
      1. Not the B450 board. The B550 board upgrade 'might' have a provision. But, you need to check with TechFast first and you still need to get a compatible card.
      2. The case is: 260mm (h) x 125mm (w) x 200mm (l). Note: that's mm, not cm. Assuming the dimension quoted is correct, it is really a more traditional ITX case (quite compact). It is not fun doing assembly with such a small case even if you managed to get your own 1u power supply.

For this kind of ITX setup, other than RAM and m.2 SSD upgrade, it's best you don't make too many changes because the case is quite small. If you must do DIY upgrade later, be careful. Not having front panel USB ports and front audio port(s) kind of help make assembly of the system simpler. Though, if I were to do my own ITX, I would prefer one with front USB ports and audio ports.

      • thanks for your answers guys - doesn't sound like the right computer for me

  • +2

Cheap and nasty isn't gonna end well for mini Itx builds.

It will be crammed and the airflow will be awful, I imagine it will thermal throttle and get loud under load, it would just have the awful stock cooler.

Plus concerns about the bottom of the barrel power supply.

If you want a mini itx build, do it properly.

If you pay for something cheap, you will get something cheap.

    • I sense that they might be 250-watt units.

  • I am considering this for some casual gaming, especially League of Legends, emulator or some others with low setting. Would this build with a tiny form factor be able to handle that?

    • +1

enough power for gaming no issue here but you might need to deal with overheating and psu issues later.

  • +1

Would be great if the case can be swapped. No front IO is a major inconvenience for ITX builds.

  • Is this a good bang for buck for home server use (ie., plex, home assistant, truenas, etc)?

  • +1

Ordered, then read comments, got worried and email TF. I got a reply today stating this setup will include a 400W PSU.

    • Thanks for the update.

    • so is the PSU good enough?

my HP16 order got cancelled, considering order this one

      • Keen to buy this too if stock comes back. My HP Omen was cancelled as well.

      • I think 400W is enough, I think the concern from many others is the potential quality of the 400W provided.

  • +1

    Any chance of a re-run?

  • +2

    Arrived today..

    Super cute and small..
The peowrsupply is horribly loud, in comparsion to the rest of the machine..
but for $813 with theB550 and 5600 upgrade.. its a steal..
has the wifi bracket and a deshrouded stock AMD HSF. (I think) has the allied sticker over the top of it)

    • Define horribly loud, like a normal pc under max load? Or are we talking something next level?

      • As loud as you can expect a high speed 40mm fan…
