From memory the bambino is 9 bar only and this one is 15 bar? I'm comparing both atm. The bambino does heat up quicker (Jet vs. Coil system) but I can wait so that's not an issue. The Infuser does seem like a better (but older) machine?
you don't need 15bar to brew coffee.
the bambino runs rings around the infuser… maybe the portafilter will need an upgrade with you're that way inclined, but if you're looking at coffee at this low end.. doesn't really matter. but upgraditis is a thing. Thanks @dasher86. I'll consider the Bambino instead :)
The extra bar isn't too helpful to be honest, as long as it's 9 bar that's fine (people get funny about going over 9 bar and pressure valves but the main takeaway is that over 9 doesn't matter.
Thanks @peachhead101 :)
9 vs 15 bar is just the spec of the pump. Both are well over the actual pressure in normal use.
Is this the same as The Barista Express minus the grinder?
9 bar is better, and you can do an extended preinfusion to minimise channeling even more. I've used my bambino for 3 years and find the learning curve to be pretty steady, but at the start I was using alot of the training wheels that it has quite heavily eg. set preinfusion, metered shots, auto frother
The bambino doesn't have auto frother does it? I think it's only on bambino plus
@DontNeedThis: That's right, the Bambino plus also has a 3 way valve
@Paudius: The bambino plus is an expensive machine considering that it doesn't even have a grinder. Barista Express is a much better value for money, don't you agree?
@DontNeedThis: I bought mine at $329 in 2020, when the BBE was over $500…. I guess things change
Yeah busy tossing up between these 2 or a duo temp pro secondhand for $100
wouldn't the pressure gadget help brewing with unpressurised filters?
To some extent it does, but there's a tonne of other factors/indicators that allow you to troubleshoot your results.
You may see that the pressure is right on the gauge, but your espresso isn't and there's mud left in the portafilter instead of a decent puck.
anyone heard anything on the dual boiler machine or its replacement?
This line has been touted for years, but it's just a limited supply to the main sellers without the grinder paired BES920 versus BEP920
I wouldn't put much weight on it, until they release a new line…. think the Impress or Touch
Breville should make their coffee machines like Delonghi. Their machines give space to cockroaches right on the kitchen counter. I just threw away a machine at work which was infested with cockroaches. Cockroaches love coffee too.
Which was the office machine?
How do Delonghi machines prevent roaches?
if you're not too interested in the pressure gadget (useless in this low end machine imo), you're better off getting a bambino (same price), or a dedica half the price.
