Good price for a great lens.
I know this is not the lowest price.
Also Sony 18-135mm for $645

Thanks OP!
16-35mm GM mk.2 is coming end of the month , in wait-and-see mode
Will there really be that big an improvement?
Hard to see it. Superb lenses (even by today’s standards) were being produced decades ago. How much room for improvement can there be?
We will have to wait and see
traditionally, ultra-wide angle lens are weak against flares, esp. zoom lens design also contribute to its complexity
modern lens design philosophy utilises lens coating to mitigate this issue
therefore, my personal opinion is really a wait-and-see situation, keen to learn what mk.2 brings before plunging into this lens
Keen to see how sharp the new one is in the corners. I’ve found modern ultra wide zooms still struggle.
Can't seeing it being a lot sharper it was already a sharp lens . Sharper than the 24-70 2.8
Yeh, What I learn on the internet is, this is one of the best wide angle lens for Sony systems…
Also there is a 16mm f1.8 Viltrox lens which is getting good reviews. It is about $800.
the 16-35 GM at 16mm is fantastic, 35 not so much. Lens manufacturing has made good advancements, look at the 16-35 PZ, that is sharper and better throughout than the GM only it's an f4. The 16mm 1.8 Viltrox is incredible, almost on par with the 14mm 1.8 GM for IQ and would be my pick for an ultrawide prime.
Amazon is clearing stock, highly likely due to the impending announcement of a GM II version.
