Not so secret anymore…
Not everyone knows about this… nor should they…. it's a sale. I am the pull out king!
The 5G version is $1199
FWIW the S8 Ultra 128GB advertised here only have 8GB RAM while the S9 Ultra (and some others) are 12GB. Not sure if that matters to people.
Website's struggling…
Made the mistake of jumping out of the queue to add shopback. :-(
would you get cashback anyhow since you used code not listed in SB
How tablets have gone beyond the $1K mark and more expensive than getting a laptop is just amazing 🤔
Just look at iPad Pro 12.9" easily going over $2/3k+
Not really. Look at the price of oled laptops and remember that most tablets are actually very powerful for their form factor for no real apparent reason. So really it's more that you should be comparing it against an oled ultrabook.
Yeah I'm tossing that up right now, but I think there's no laptop with the screen quality, low weight and power efficiency of these tablets at these prices, so I'm not sure that they're overpriced.
Probably a Yoga 6 AMD at about $1200 would have to be about the best touchscreen laptop I can find for the money at the moment.
Will check it out thanks
How do people rate this tablet for performance/value at present? Good deal prior to the S9's coming out?
Also considering the Galaxy Watch, are these the best android ones at present?
(Thanks OP)
At half the price of the Tab S9 Ultra this deal is surely the way to go.
I've got the plus. Can't complain, does everything I want. Would have preferred waterproof but oh well.
Dex was a pleasant surprise. I use it with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse it's a pc like experience.
Thanks - yeah I think I might opt for a plus based on feedback on this one being pretty big.
Yeah, the plus is more like a regular tablet. The ultra is really a laptop replacement and awkward in vertical. So the have case is very different.
The regular doesn't have oled so try and get the plus if you can afford it.
What are you gonna use it for? Nothing in the Android world really demands this much power sans emulating switch games. If you want it for gaming I'd say get an ipad, devs support that platform better.
The screen size is its selling feature, the lenovo tab extreme is the only other 14.5" oled tablet that exists.
Good value? I'd say not. I bought mine for about the same price when it was released Samsung deals have been lacklustre.
Use case is video streaming, comics and (potentially) most importantly, I'm likely going back to uni next year and as such was looking to get a tablet for that (instead of a laptop). No gaming really, PC or console all the way for that.
Might wait for a smaller option or at least go have a look at one in person first.
Just be aware that the keyboard cover for this costs like $300.
Definitely too big for comic reading, unless you have you hands propped on your lap.
Good for videos, sound amazingly has soundstage due to how far apart the speakers are.
The S9 is a very minor upgrade. Very happy with my S8+
I would actually say that most people should go for the plus models instead of the Ultra, the Ultra is absolutely massive. Unless you're doing loads of stuff through Dex (treating it like a laptop), the plus is plenty big.
Disagree, especially with the base model moving from LCD to OLED. Benchmarks also show a big (40%+) boost in CPU performance due to the one-two punch of the vastly improved Snapdragon CPU (moving to TSMC + focusing on efficiency) and improved cooling (vapor chamber in the tablet)
Here's GB6 for the Tab S8 (https://browser.geekbench.com/android_devices/samsung-galaxy…)
And here's the results for my Tab S9 (https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/2200128) (Compute is about 9500, Vulkan)Now, is it worth upgrading for only a single generation? Not unless you're getting an amazing trade in, I'd say. But this isn't a small generational improvement by any means.
I meant the S9 series in general, so plus to plus or ultra to ultra. Agreed that the smallest model is more meaningful an upgrade but that wasn't listed in the OP
I haven't hit any performance issues with my tab, so I can't see the chipset improvement as being enough to justify the cost diff personally
So secret deal, Cant even browse Products :)
too big/heavy to use as a tab. Better to get a keyboard case n use a laptop. Spen comes handy.
i cant get the page to load
Definitely worth checking out in store at like JB as the size makes it not as useful as a pure tablet.
Also storage is low for media consumption offline :(
They have a microSD
Very true!
In what regard? Too big or small?
Considering the ultra (this deal) is one of the largest available tablets I would say OP means too big.
Too big, not a one hander. And you'll likely need a keyboard for typing over the screen swiping
Hmm ok might wait for a smaller option. Didn't realise it was the huge one as the web page is not working real well…

Ah thanks not bad when u factor the trade in
My suggestion is to AVOID Samsung online shop at all costs.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 FE Wi-Fi from this 'secret' 40% off deal in February 2023 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/758137.
It took 4 MONTHS to arrive with multiple follow-ups with Samsung live chat and having needed to escalate a case with their internal investigation team.
Samsung was/is going through a major logistics revamp which left me and lots of other customers wondering when they would get their product.
The tracking on the website was hopeless as everytime it would reach the expected delivery date it would be pushed by another 1-2 weeks.
They tried really hard to get me to cancel this order and generously offered a whole '$50 gift card' because they couldn't fulfil the order that was until I escalated a case and found out that they had in fact run out of stock of the colour (silver) which I couldn't care less about and instead all they needed to do was swap over to an alternate colour (black).
Samsung's customer service is like a stellar Galaxy until you actually need it, at which point its a Black hole.
A black hole near uranus
FWIW I've bought heaps of mobile devices from the online shop and they've always arrived promptly, often within 2 days. I've put through 8 orders this year and they all arrived when expected. One of them was a Tab S7 FE at the end of July.
They did cancel my Frame TV order without informing me though.
Just sharing my feedback,
I ordered this deal on Monday (14/Aug), and received Thursday (17/Aug).To add to it, I pre-ordered a Tab S9 which was due to be delivered on Wed 16/8 which is a public holiday here. To my surprise it was actually delivered on the 16/8.
I know exactly how you feel. I bought a $4400 TV from them, then decided to go with a different model. I phoned them and asked if I could change the order and they told me to cancel the order and order the one I wanted. I asked them how long for the refund for the cancelled order and I was told 3 to 7 days. Well as it turned out it took almost 4 months to get back my $4,400 !!! After over 10 phone calls to the so called "Customer Care" service, (Should be " Customer I don't give a F$%K " service ), I finally got my money back by going through a payment dispute through my bank. I will never buy another thing through their online store no matter how good their deals are. This was the worst online shopping experience I have ever had in my life, and believe me I've had many.
This or the S8+? Will mainly be using it for media
I have used both, This is by far the best device I have used for Media consumption.
Probably a dumb question but could I buy this with Samsung care then refresh the device to the s9 ultra?
once again no deal on BUDS ? strange
Just got it price matched at Officeworks for $1023. Cheers!
Did you price beat in store or call? I called and they are very unhelpful.
I called, but it took awhile to explain the deal haha. I imagine it would be easier to do in store
