Shame they rushed season 8 so they could move onto doing onanother show… glad they got fired from that new one.
They got fired? I thought they got signed to Netflix and left Disney, and are now producing the book adaptation of the 3 body problem for Netflix.
They were going to do a Star Wars project but the disaster that is season 8 (and I think 7 too) got them dropped. Which is really saying something as the recent SW movies and parts of the shows haven't been great.
Just have to wait two years for the technology and someone will release an AI generated 8th season that doesn't suck

They probably had earnt enough moneys for several lifetimes with just GOT, so dont think it makes a dent in their wallets
I watch this on a large Sony 4k tv and it looks extremely clear. I reckon this blu ray is more than sufficient. Dont really need 4k disk.

I actually thought it finished in season 6. Season 7 and 8 was a joke, but that finale of season 6 is worth keeping in the main canon. That song that plays during the finale is incredible.
The Battle of the Bastards near the end of S6 is one of the high points of the entire show IMO.
$95 to be taken on a rollercoaster ride of disappointment.
I enjoyed season 8, and I didn't mind it one bit.
My main problem with it (and season 7) is the reduced episode count compared to seasons 1-6. I didn't mind where the story ended up, but the way it got there just felt really rushed. S1-6 had 10 episodes each, then S7 and S8 had 7 and 6 episodes. So that's 13 episodes where there should have been 20. As a result, after 8 years of build up, you have these 2 major plotlines (the fight for the iron throne and the fight against the white walkers) both getting very hurriedly wrapped up in the space of 2 episodes.
Just felt like all those involved had somewhere else they had to be.
been a while since i watched 7 but i remember getting annoyed by the amount of padding around them being surrounded by zombies? I think they just had no idea how to finish it and couldnt be stuffed so just padded the plot they had left to finish the story.
In fairness to them, George RR Martin hasn't got off his arse to write the next book in the 12 years since the show started airing - 5th book came out right around the same time as the first season of the show. I'm sure when they started, they would have been working on the not-unreasonable assumption that he'd get the next one out sometime in the next 6 years. I am beginning to suspect that he probably has no idea how to finish it either.
It didn't feel padded to me, though… more the opposite. It felt rushed - maybe for the reason you're suggesting, though ie they didn't know what to do, didn't have the material to fill the seasons so they cut them short by 3 or 4 episodes each.

yeh it wasn't as good as the other seasons but it was pretty good for what it was. The rabid hate is pretty overboard and unwarranted IMO

This is a really good deal for anyone who wants to see a 70 hour long train wreck in crisp 4k resolution. Turn on producer commentary and you have a documentary on how one of the most beloved franchises went to absolute shizzle. It's a two in one deal.
I hate season 8!
This was a situation where they legitimately could have retconned themselves, magic style, and it would have been worth it.
