Not worth it anymore as I understand since they nerfed the overall benefits by not allowing you to use the discount benefit online. We mostly just order our groceries online for click and collect or direct to boot since it's a lot easier to curate our groceries lists and tailor it to the half price specials etc.

    • -3

I'm no expert, but I had a good read about this since seeing it on Yahoo Finance this morning. The reward system appears to have been completely relaunched. It states "in-store and online".

      • +2

When I looked through just now, each spiel about the 10% off seemed to have "in-store" or "in-store only" pretty clearly mentioned.
The online and in-store is mentioned for the 2x EW points.

        • Same here. I double checked the website to confirm if anything had changed but it appears it is still the watered down version of the service.

    • +8

Definitely still worth it. Might not be as good value as it initially was due to what you pointed out. But we have saved $216 using the 10% off monthly shop, and earned an extra 8000 woollies points, which is another $40. And we aren't even through the first year yet.

I will definitely take a $60-70 outlay for returns like those

      • -5

Or shop at Aldi and save $500

        • Haven't shopped in Aldi for a year. Went back - no Sriracha sauce, groceries choice got more limited, the price of vegies or meat is not that different to Woolworths. Plus a lot of Chinese made stuff in frozen food section to keep the costs down. No deal. I use mine 20 dollar mobile plan plus my partners 20 dollar mobile plan to get 2 - 10% discounts that easily cover monthly fee. So the Aldi should try better to win the heart back.

        • +1

Aldi doesn't have nearly the range nor quality for the average household.

    • You get a code to use each month to use online.

  • +6

Was $60 a year fee + 3x points, not worth after the change after Jul.

  • Other than the 2x points bonus the perks are exactly the same as when you have any Woolworth product, eg mobile, insurance. I have 3 products tied to different rewards card and do get the 10pcnt off groceries.

We tie this with 4pcnt off WW Essentials gift card making it effectively 14pcnt off groceries.

We do 3 big shops per month.

  • +1

Price has gone up recently, but IMO really good, especially if, like me, you have a Woolies in close proximity. We do at least one big shop every month, and the 10% discount on that shop more than compensates for the monthly sub.

  • +4

I've saved more than the whole yearly cost in under 3 months and earned an extra 10,000 points. Saying it's "not worth it" is a blanket statement that only applies to some people.

  • +3

Depends on how much you value your time. My $350 shop cost me over 1hr in time for $35 savings. I subscribed over a year ago and also subscribed to their delivery service. It was worth it for me when I could get my large shop delivered to my doorstep. Also have Woolworths mobile for another 10% off shop. Now I waste time in store shopping. I'll probably not renew next year.

    • Do you get 2 10% off? One with mobile and one with this?

      • +1

Yep, used to be 4. 2 online and 2 in store so was definitely worth it then

  • +17

After two years jacking everything in sight to the point of rediscovering the Laffer curve, they want me to pay for a watered down "loyalty" program?

    Go to hell. No deal.

  • +4

Fxxk no, I would invest my money for COSTCO rather than shit woolies for the same amount of money. At least the benefit of cheaper price petrol is something obvious at COSTCO, not for some sh*t company changes rules every single month and to lift everything from rewards program.

  • +1

So there's no value add above having a Woolworths Mobile plan to get the 10% off one shop each month that way? You may as well put that $70 subscription money into one of their mobile plans instead.

Because let's face it, the "extra perks subscriber freebies" are likely going to be 99.9% nonsense.

(scared voice) counting down to the time they drop the 10% off shop from their mobile plans.

    • +3

You can use the 10% off for each. That is, Rewards extra PLUS mobile plan. So twice a month.

    • +2

You can use it twice a month of you have a Woolies product linked.

  • +2

If you have a Citi cc you may also have been targeted for this offer https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/791246

  • Free first month for first time subscribers.

But the time to subscribe is when there are targeted 2000 - 6000 bonus points offers as well. Need to stay for 1 paid month ($7) for points.
Subscribed free this week for 3000pts in that offer.

Subscribed for 4000pts on another Rewards account a month ago.
Paid $7 for 2 month subscription.
    Saved 10% on 2 x ($110+) Woolies shops
Received free Ajax Spray & Wipe gift.

  • Or just use woolz mobile without the 2x point.

    • +1

      ?Per que no los dos?

      • Woolies Mobile & Insurance comes with 10% off once a month @Woolies.

        • Yep but only once even if you have mobile and insurance with Woolworths.

          • +1

@0 0 0: Obviously, sign up for Mobile & Insurance on 2 different Rewards accounts for twice the benefit!

I've got 4 Rewards Extra subscriptions on separate Rewards accounts for 4 times the benefit listed here + 3000 or 4000 bonus pts each for joining🎉

        • I know, I meant you can get the insurance/mobile 10% off a month as well as the Everyday Extra 10% off.

Obviously do your own sums, but should definitely be getting more value than the $7 a month it costs if you are primarily a Woolies shopper.

          • @djkelly69: Signed up to Rewards Extra (first month free). Did 3 times larger shop than my usual $40 weekly shop @Woolies - to benefit from 10% discount.

Definitely worth the $7 subscription, but requires a change in shopping which doesn't suit me. Will likely cancel after 2nd month (paid) subscription to collect the 4000 targeted bonus Rewards points.

  • -3

I just shop at Aldi & save at least $600 per year anyway.

    • +3

That just sounds like an Aldi ad😜

Pity, you miss out on all the bonus Woolies Rewards points that way.

In 1 x $10 Woolies shop, received 26,000 pts ($130) (with multiple Rewards accounts that received offer).

Just received 25,000pts ($125) in targeted Rewards offer for changing electricity retailer (+$100 credit). (Bill was same as old retailer. Will change again for a different benefit in few months.)

Signed up to 4 Rewards Extra subscriptions (free first month) with 10% off benefits & likely free gift - 4 times a month! (Received free Ajax Spray & Wipe last month.)
Received total of 13,000 bonus pts ($65) offer to subscribe for 2 months. Will likely cancel after ($7 paid) 2nd months & spend the points.

And regular weekly 2000 bonus pts on $40 shop etc.

All were in Deals here. Easy money if you are smart!
Only scan Rewards card for good bonus offers, not every shop or 3x offers etc!

Buy many products on sale @1/2 price. Much cheaper than Aldi!!

Saving far more than your $600 per year (just in bonus Rewards points) on what I prefer buying.

Rarely shop at Aldi, even though it is 15 min walk away. Bad experiences of inferior Aldi copies of brand products taught me not to risk shopping at Aldi.

But the loyal Aldi fans will never believe that. Expecting negs for my advice on how I save money - not shopping at Aldi😊

      • +1

Agreed, Aldi shoppers are like a cult. You cant say bad words against Aldi.

        • Just like Tesla owners.

        • +1

Aldi fans can promote Aldi's products in ways that would get Aldi into a lot of trouble over misleading & false claims.

(Aldi fans here have falsely claimed the "Same factory theory"… Its looks the same - so it must be made in the same factory as the brand name product! Implying it's the same product… It's a copy!)

It's brilliant marketing, using the loyal fans.

So Aldi fans are financially very beneficial for Aldi💰

Aldi's secretive behaviour helps believers create & maintain their theories.

Aldi fans become loyal members of an ingroup, supporting their beloved multinational!

As with many "believers", they don't treat unbelievers kindly😜

But that doesn't make them like cult members. Cults enforce beliefs & isolate their members from outside influence, or you're never welcomed back.
Aldi's doors are open to all (at least those with money during business hours)! It's a free choice, no belief necessary😉

In my old work as a consultant, have learnt a lot about Aldi practices from a supplier to Aldi. From what I learnt, I'm not a fan of Aldi!

As a self confessed 'supermarket slut', I go where there is a good offer. Even Aldi. I'm not loyal, just thrifty😊

        • @Puglife Just think how much more you would be paying at Woolworths without Aldi.

Look at the increasing profit margin at Bunnings each year since Masters shut down.

Like it or not, Australia needs competition (Aldi)

    • Aldi is good if only look at price tag, but when consider cc fee, points rewards all together then quite opposite.

      • CC fee? Pay with EFTPOS and it's zero fee (insert the card).

        • Rather pay with points from so many Bonus pt Deals!

  • Would this stack with the x20 rewards points during gift card promotions…?

    • With normal shopping it does.

Had a 5300 bonus point offer on $100 shop, before subscribing to free month of Rewards Extra.
To be safe, bought $112, less 10% to make sure qualified. Received the 5300 bonus points. And normal points on my shop as usual.

  • +1

    Bonus points
    Free products

    Since joining I've saved $55.75
    Extra points 1978
Extra perks redeems - 3 (Garlic bread, Kellog's Corn Flakes and a box of Just Right)

Been with them 8 months (so $54), but haven't used this month's one Woolworths one yet.

    • (Note that I still live at home with my folks so my grocery shopping is rather low).

This months targeted FREE gift for EXTRA subscribers (shown in email or app):
    (1) National Pie ($3.10)
    or
    (1) Haribo 140g-150g sweets ($3.50)
    *Depends what they give you.

Received a Free Ajax Spray N Wipe Spray 500ml ($3.50) last month.

Not bad considering first month is free.
Grab the gift, plus 1 x 10% off at Woolies & BigW in store. Then cancel or pay $7 for next month…

More targeted bonus points offers to sign up in emails. Already subscribed in 3000 & 4000pt offers.

    • -1

Lol! Seems someone thinks a free way of saving 10% on groceries (even better when on sale), free gift, & possible targeted bonus points - is a bad idea😜

On my free month subscription, today…
Collected my free pie, & saved 10% on $15/kg banana prawns on sale & all my Woolies groceries today🎉

If I pay $7 to extend for 2nd month will receive 3000 bonus points ($15)!

      Seems pretty good to me😊

  • -1

Isn't this just RRP? All loyalty programme or any lunch/dinner buffet should be a deal if this is a deal. A swimming club or bowling club will save you money than paying per visit.

If you don't need Big W, it is actually better deal to go with Woolies mobile or insurance, you get 10% off supermarket

    • Think you misunderstand…
(not worded well in Deal Description)

Ordinary REWARDS loyalty program is still free!

      This is optional REWARDS EXTRA
FREE first month subscription! (once per account)
Has been posted a few times

Gives additional benefit of 10% off Woolies & BigW once a month.
Plus free small gift each month.

And possible bonus points (3K/$15cr & 4k/$20cr for me) if pay $7 for 2nd month.

Sign up with different Rewards account each month = FREE never ending REWARDS EXTRA subscription benefits!

Doesn't have to be either this, mobile or insurance - can sign up each with different Rewards account & get multiple 10% of Woolies a month.

Am receiving 3 x 10% discount shops @Woolies this month!

  • Woolworths seems to have re-launched its rewards card system…

Everyday Rewards - previously Woolworths Rewards.

Umm… On 29 July 2020, Woolworths Rewards rebranded as Everyday Rewards

There is an Everyday Rewards Extra subscription model available.

    Been around since mid-2022!

Last year's Deal better describes the offer when first announced:
30-Day Free Trial Subscription to Everyday Extra from Everyday Rewards (Then $7 Per Month)

    What is new…

As outlined in comments, REWARDS EXTRA benefits have been REDUCED!

See… Are the extra points and savings still worth it after big changes to the scheme?
The annual discount has been slashed
If you spend more than $70 in a single grocery shop (in -store) the savings will be more than the $7 you pay each month – and you'll get extra points on top of that.

So to attract new subscribers, REWARDS EXTRA is offering targeted 1000-6000 bonus Rewards points to subscribe for at least 1 paid month after the FREE month!

  • The country’s biggest supermarket chain, Woolworths, has recorded a dramatic lift in margins for its Australian food business, pushing the company’s profitability well beyond pre-pandemic levels during a cost-of-living crisis.

The company’s net profit rose by 4.6% to $1.62bn for the full financial year, while overall sales hit $64.29bn, derived from its Australian and New Zealand supermarket operations as well as Big W.

But it is the profitability of the Australian supermarket business that may grab the attention of policymakers. The company’s preferred gauge of profitability, known as operating margins, spiked from 5.3% to 6% during the financial year.

The metric shows that Woolworths was able to more than pass on inflationary costs to shoppers.

The ability of the big supermarket to not just retain but fatten margins during the inflationary period supercharged its overall profit and represents a likely inflation trigger.

  • does it charge monthly on the 1st?

  • +2

Woot. They are allowing online redemption again from 1st November.

  • "Woolworths Rewards" sounds much better

  • So previously we have been able to get the 10% off twice by doing an online order first then going in store and redeeming it. Unfortunately this month it seems they’ve fixed the glitch.

    • Just noticed this as well

      • Might have jumped the gun, looks like my Everyday Extra subscription expired 8/8 so the discount must have dropped off by the time it came around to doing my shop on the weekend

  • Mine is about to renew later this week. Anyone have any promo codes or is it best to cancel and wait for the half price deal again?
