  • Do we need to get in quick for this deal? Do they typically sell out fast?

    • $13 cashback expires: Aug 6, 2023, 11:59:00 PM

  • Don't need these need to be activated within 30 days for cashback to apply? How you guys ordering 5?

    • 50gb prob last for 1 week. buy 5 for getting 5 weeks :)

  • +1

    Once it's activated, how long does it stay active for if it was never recharged?

    • would like to know this as well, appreciate if anyone can advise from experience

      • @mmd @powerhead I want to know to, I have one expiring on the 8th of this month so if there's no answer I'll find out soon enough.

    • +3

      @mmd @powerhead @Corcivillius According to Boost, it's 6 months and also mentioned on OzB.
      However I found it to be about 5 months recently. Bought and activated my first 28 day SIM end of Nov and the number was receiving messages up to April. Didn't work in May

      https://boost.com.au/blogs/help-topics/how-long-do-i-not-hav…

  • Does activating more than 4x SIMs still require phoning Boost to activate more?

    • No. Or at least I've never had an issue. I typically activate 10+ at a time. YMMV.

      • I was sure I read it in past threads when I last bought Boost SIMs…

        Ok I found a partial mention of it, though not the same as I recall: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/13943161/redir. Basically he says you can have a maximum of 35 activated SIMs (they remain active even after you stop using them), and on activation number 36 the site won't allow you to activate more. At that point you have to contact Boost to ask a rep to delete all your expired numbers.

        • You're not wrong, that is what members have reported. I'm just saying I haven't hit that issue personally.

          • @wavesgreen: Oh I see now. Thanks.

        • I wonder if this 35 number limit is linked to your account or your ID. It's not hard to create a new account.

    • no as long as you use the same email purchasing and activating

    "Adding more than one SIM to an order will result in an untracked purchase."
    Ordered 2 last time as separate orders.
    First was tracked and arrived.
    Second was sent two months later, tracked but never arrived.
    Support over chat advised:
    - buy a $2 starter SIM
    - contact Chat support quoting endorsement number they provided for case to get it activated
    Smells of Boost double-dipping SIM slutters who don't keep atop their orders.

    • I doubt they'd dedicate staff to annoying the small number of people exploiting loopholes, but I guess it's possible. It's easier to be apathetic and let it happen until someone higher up finally notices and closes the loopholes. This buy a $2 SIM thing is the second time I've heard that the last few days. The telco should be mailing out a free SIM, not asking us to pay again for something they already got wrong the first time.

  • how can we port to Optus $2 Pre-Paid SIM then port back to Boost (to make this $1 profit)?
    as Recharge required to activate Optus $2 Pre-Paid SIM at a minimum cost of $12; how can we work around to activate Optus $2 Pre-Paid SIM without required Recharge
    (to activate Optus $2 Pre-Paid SIM) at a minimum cost of $12?

  • Doesn’t mention in terms, is it fine if we activate under a different name and details to the one we ordered with? Going to get this for family visiting from overseas.

    • +1

      Yes, it's fine. Done that before.

  • What do people say when Boost ask why so many sims activated when you request to cancel them?

    • They don't ask.

      • +1

        Now see, there it is again… I was sure they had a 4x SIM limit, then you had to call/chat with them to activate 5+… Maybe it was Belong I'm thinking of, not Boost!?

        • No it was definitely boost, I read it in the same threads as you. But I personally feel like these triggers don't automatically apply, at least to all accounts. I feel like accounts get flagged for whatever reason and then this stuff happens.

          Maybe the same systems behind some people getting the 'something went wrong' messages when trying to buy sims.

          • @wavesgreen: Thanks.

            With many people activating 5+ without needing to contact them and delete old numbers, it's worth seeing if I'm targeted before I do something silly like paying for stuff.

        • Definitely not 4 SIM limit cos I did hit the ceiling (whatever that is - I didn't count it at the time) once & I gave the agent (over chat) a long list of numbers with expired plans to deactivate/ remove from my account before I was able to activate more. No questions asked.

          Never had to call/ chat them to activate any of the SIM (but I always sign in when I activate any SIM - saves me having to enter my details each time).

    • They don't ask, however, i buy them for extra data

  • The hunger is real.

  • I can't order any more recently, gives me the "something went wrong" error. Even using different information and from a different IP address.

    • Same. I contacted support and they are working on this issue.

      • +1

        I tried again today, I can see they're flagging my orders as "possible fraud" for whatever reason, by checking the network history via developer tools ..

        "errors": [
            {
                "message": "Possible Fraud",
                "code": "403"
            }

        • That sucks! Anyway to bypass this?

  • Could i still get this deal through cashrewards buy use a new $2 sim from the shops?
    I need a sim asap!

    • no

    Received my first lot of $35 sims from boost and they send them via StarTrack Courier. Always been AustraliaPost Domestic Letter with Tracking before. Good show.

    I'm almost feeling guilty for making a profit off them. Almost.

    • Don't feel guilty, these companies do very well.

      Feel proud.

    • Yep I'm impressed. Ordered yesterday, this could have gone into the letterbox but startrack came to my apartment door. Aus Post has never done that even with parcels, they just leave the missed delivery card in the letterbox.

      • +1

        They switched service. Mine arrived in a Startrack satchel, where as they used to send in a green domestic letter with tracking.

  • Wow I got back $288 from CR from al the boost $4 or such I made.

    Should have made more!!

    • 72 Sim cards?

      • yaa i activated like 100 back in May & june with all those promos! Pretty solid free money there. :)

  • Does the cashback only track once you activate? Bought 2 (separate orders) on the 5th and 7th, delivered today and they haven't tracked in cashrewards yet.

    • +2

      No. In the past they've tracked within minutes of the oder confirmation.

  • Anyone else getting an 'error' at the end of the activation process, asking them to try later? Very frustrating that it won't just work as it should.

    • +1

      Sorry to hear. I was distracted by the eye brows

  • +1

    Currently further upsized cashback profit of $2.20 @ https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/794151
