    It's baaaaack!

    • again & again!

  • +2

Boost Mobile delivery was next day for me in Melbourne Metro.

    • +8

Yea, I placed 5 orders and they came in 5 separate StarTrack sachets. Felt like a bit of a waste.

      • +1

Do you use the same signup info (phone number and email)?

        • +1

          Yes

          • +1

@xers: When you activate does it wheel online? Mine never do

            • +1

@chinaman: Haven't activated these ones yet but prior to this I had activated about 10 numbers on the same account and had no issues.

            • @chinaman: Are you trying to use a different email? It happened to me when I tried to use a different email to my usual but then reverting back to normal email it worked.

          • @xers: I did that and got charged $35 on the 2nd Sim I tried to cancel order but they won't do it.

            • @paulaus: Charged? Didn't it display the correct amount before ordering?

      • +2

Fascinating. It used to arrive as a prepaid envelope

      • And they are all shipped from Telstra

      • +2

5 orders? Did you intend to use it all within a month or later? because cashback is eligible if activated within 30 days 🤔

        • I normally activate them all within 30 days and use them as spare numbers for data or to sign up for things that I mentioned in my other comments.

    • +1

there hasnt been many cashback deals on here so their stock and staff were just sitting around twiddling their thumbs! :)

      • Can't beat a good thumb twiddlin'!

    • I received mine today in Perth, ordered yesterday. First time in its history and used to take 2-3 weeks

    • I was so shocked too

  • +5

thought free SIMs dried up after the last FY ended. thanks, Op.

  • +4

The end of the world is ni.. oh wait, nope false alarm. Profit on Boost Sims are still here. Thanks op

  • +2

Guys, board the train, let's go!

  • +1

Was there ever a fix for their perpetual (for some people) "oops something went wrong" page when you submit payment?

    • I think they limit how much you can bulk order.
Sometimes it’s as low as 2-3 to as much as 7-8.
Though once they are delivered, it’s reset.

      • I'm just trying to buy one, always getting that technical error - tried different devices, browsers, emails, cards, even mobile numbers and always after submitting payment, technical error

  • Good to see it's back but $1 profit seems never happened before.

Ohh this is 50GB (tho $2 profit by SB)

  • +4

Will wait for the $4 profit deals coming next week :)

    • +2

Stock some in case the next week never comes :)

      • can I please ask if one should stock? since it says you need to use the sim within 28 days of purchasing? so can't really stock right? thanks

  • Does this plan then revert to $35 a month from the 2nd recharge on?

    • +2

Yep, but you can turn off auto-recharge and also change recharge options.

      • +3

Auto recharge has always been off by default everytime I've activated.

  • -1

    one dorrah

  • +4

    $13 Cashback ($1 Profit)

My goal to buy a Tesla via Boost cashbacks is getting closer and closer….

    • +3

You could just order 70,000 sims in one go?

      • ATO might get a bit suss…

        • +3

Ok, order 100,000 Sims to cover tax then if ATO is going to classify cashrewards as your job.

  • Yay! Welcome home!

  • Anything worthwhile that a burner number/data is useful for, aside from the $1 profit?

    • JB Perks, free trial for services that require phone number verification (Binge, Kayo etc…), Uber Eats new account discounts etc… just to name a few.

    • KFC account, hudson's coffee (have a birthday every day!), maccas… no not really.

      • +3

Don't need a new number for Macca's, only email.

OnePass trials is another one @FrugalHoward

        • +1

Oh yes OnePass is a good one that I forgot to mention. If you sign up for it then link it to a Catch account and don’t buy anything, they will give you a $30 off $60 spend coupon after a week or so.

Used to be able to get a $10 Bunnings gift card with OnePass free trial as well but not anymore.

          • @xers:

If you sign up for it then link it to a Catch account and don’t buy anything, they will give you a $30 off $60 spend coupon after a week or so.

I'll give this a go with one of my active Boost sims but it might've just been a limited time only offer.

            • +2

@MiscOzB: It's not. I was still getting the coupon as recent as last month. They will try to tempt you with $20 off $60 spend first but you have to ignore it and wait a few more days then you will get it.

The coupon is always ONEPASS30 btw but unless you receive the email it won't work on your account. It's only valid for 2-3 days too.

    • have a sim in your tablet, spare data, 150Mbps speed cap which is faster than NBN100 if you need to dl something fast.

sign up with JB perks/Uber etc (a bit dodgy IMO but it should work)

      • +1

Standing on the road to have best coverage and get 100Mbps at most due to phone limitation?

    • Portable wifi hotspot is my number 1, then freebies like borrito, milk Tea, coffee, etc

    • +6

Anything that REPLACES usual data/internet requirements. I haven't had any "house" internet for several years thanks to SIM deals like this. No NBN, no fixed wireless broadband, no satellite broadband. Instead I use SIMs like these in a pocket wifi modem (like this: https://www.coles.com.au/product/optus-portable-modem-+50gb-…), to serve internet to my laptop and phone over wifi and/or cable. I watch a lot of youtube and download torrents of movies/TV series instead of paying $$/m for subscriptions. Also listen to online radio.

When I leave the house my phone goes in one pocket, the pocket wifi modem in another pocket, and all the same internet related abilities transfer to the car. Bluetooth the phone to the car stereo and I'm now listening to the same online radio station I was listening to in the house.

If you get something like the ALDI $5/year SIM or Amaysim $10/year "As You Go" plan, give people that number for incoming calls, and use SIMs like this deal for outgoing calls. I'm saving at least $70/m compared to most people for basic NBN, plus free mobile calls, no TV subscriptions…

I use about 40GB (usually one SIM with deals like these) every 14-20 days. That means I always have at least one SIM lying around without any data left but I can still make outgoing calls on. i.e. Activate SIM 1, insert in modem, use for 2 weeks for internet, when its data runs out it goes into my phone for outgoing calls, and I activate SIM 2 for internet for the next couple of weeks - and so on. When SIM 1 expires, cut it up and into the bin, put SIM 2 in the phone, and activate SIM 3 for the modem.

And I can always swap the current "internet SIM" from the modem into the phone temporarily to make outgoing calls as well.

So with SIMs like these I have free incoming and outgoing phone calls, free text, free internet, takeaway food apps, etc while not paying for NBN, no paid TV subscriptions (99.9999% of any new shows can be found as a torrent on thepiratebay or 1337x within a couple of hours of airing), and in the case of this deal I get paid $1 to do it.

      • @Faulty P xel Thanks for sharing. Sounds very organised.

        I've a couple of questions:

        • For incoming calls, are you changing your number once a year or porting to the same number?
        • For outgoing calls and texts, does this mean your contacts see a new number every 2 weeks or are you keeping one of the numbers?

I used my spare 28 day Boost SIM once for data in my dual SIM phone and confused my contacts when they received messages (using data) from my unfamiliar new number.

        • +6

For incoming calls, are you changing your number once a year or porting to the same number?

No porting. I just leave my incoming calls number on ALDI for $5, or Amaysim for $10, per year. I actually have two incoming calls numbers: One on Amaysim for $10/year "As You Go" plan, and an old grandfathered Vodafone plan from a couple of decades ago that was called: "No Plans" which costs $0 per month but has high and timed call costs.

Since Vodafone don't offer that plan anymore I just refer to ALDI and Amaysim when explaining what I do, because $5 & $10 per year are the closest/cheapest equivalent. (I have the additional $10 Amaysim in case whatever cheap Telco SIM I'm currently bar-girling on goes offline, and I need to phone them to find out why - because calls on the Vodafone "no plans" are expensive.)

Also, I don't know how ALDI does recharges, but Amaysim can be set to automatically debit your Paypal, which in turn debits your bank account. So when the $10 runs out, there's no being cut off mid-call. They just charge Paypal and the call/texting/internet continues. But obviously you try not to use it or you'll be paying like $30 or $40 per year. It's just for emergencies. Anyway, this way Amaysim never has access to your bank details. So if I ever want to drop Amaysim, I just login to Paypal, turn off the automatic debit, and they have no way to charge me "by mistake" later. (There's no need to contact Amaysim to cancel. Just turn off their ability to charge you and at some point it expires.)

For outgoing calls and texts, does this mean your contacts see a new number every 2 weeks or are you keeping one of the numbers?

People soon learn I change numbers. When I phone people from constantly changing numbers I have three choices… They either just answer because they know I change SIMs often and can see it's a "normal" (non-scam) phone number, or I can dial #31# then their phone number to hide my mobile ID, or if they forget and decline the call (or it's someone who hasn't "got it" yet) I send them a text first saying: "It's Faulty calling. Pick up!" then I call and they know the "strange" or hidden number is me.

I used my spare 28 day Boost SIM once for data in my dual SIM phone and confused my contacts when they received messages (using data) from my unfamiliar new number.

Yeah people soon get used to it. I mainly just use the hide ID thing and add the words: "It's FP…" or even just "FP" to the start of each text. Subsequent texts don't need it because they know by the content and hidden ID they're still texting with me.

Note: I think you have to put a space between #31# and their phone number on some phones to get hide ID to work. So I just went through my contacts and added "#31# " (note the space at the end) to the start of every number in my contacts. I think some phones you can tell them to add it automatically, so you don't have to add it to every number. But my outgoing phone is a dumb phone, so it needs it added to every contact.

Government and business still answer every call anyway, and friends/family know what I do now, see the "FP" at the start. It's a non-issue by the time you send them a few texts.

          • @[Deactivated]: Thanks for the detailed reply.
You have trained your contacts well 😃

      • +1

        Lol. How elaborate! I'm impressed!

        • Go… and do likewise, grasshopper.

        • +1

Oh and forgot… instead of a modem someone could use a dual-SIM phone.

          • SIM 1, permanent number SIM = incoming texts and calls
          • SIM 2, cashback SIMs = data, texts, and outgoing calls
      • Telstra peeing onto their own legs!
Went from upfront 180 Gig to this, took 4hrs to transfer and 3 go's .
Fine in Oz, useless overseas even with roaming pack!

    • Kayo/streamotion free trial

  • +4

Thanks OP! One dollar closer to the penthouse

  • Not bad but unfortunately bought two ytd. Still a bargain as free.

    • Why can't you just buy two more?

      • +1

Unless I can use up all the data ordered. Tried not to waste as a sole user.

        • port out to a $2 sim then port back every month

          • @Churna: which provider provides $2 sim?

            • @amsaini15: something like telstra $2 kit or boost $2

you have to add $ to use/call with the new sim, this is just for porting numbers in and out after a day.

              • @jaydee4: How do you port in with a $2 sim without having to sign up for a pre-paid plan? I just bought a $2 amaysim and when activating it's asking which plan I want.

                • @stjohnthe19th: AFAIK Telstra is the only one that allows you to activate without having to recharge.

          • @Churna: Have you done that before @gingerscale? I just tried and needed to sign up to an actual plan.

            • @stjohnthe19th: have with telstra but normally I just get a $10 amaysim or optus sim (the cheap ones you find at woolies) so i can use it for a few days while im porting in and out.

  • until when?

    • +1

Best to buy now think later.

    • SIM SALE ends 22 Aug.
50GB for $12 on first 3 recharges for new customers.
      25GB on 4th recharge. Recharge by 25 Sept 23 and 3rd recharge by 27 Nov 23.

      • Can you clarify? Are you saying with this deal that the recharges are $12 until the 4th charge?
Is this the same with the previous deals?

Was the Coles Lebara deal better? https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/790865 Still @12 in store for large plan.

        • +1

          Lebara = Vodafone

  • My mobile connection has literally made me money over the last 9~ months… Going to see how long I can go not paying anything/making money by having a phone lol.

    • Same here. My total profit can nearly cover my yearly amaysim plan

      • My total profit I can buy a new iPhone.

  • I'd bought 5 sims, but only 4 tracked. I have 5 clicked via Cash Rewards - do i report after 7 days? Seemingly one of them did not track as it usually tracks within 1 minute for me.

    • +1

Buy more sims to break even.

      • Eh, I will. But will also submit a claim after the 7 days.

  • is multiple transactions for the same account user ok?

  • Is the second recharge normal price?

The best way to just stop using it after 28 days with auto-renew turned off?

  • can I hop from telstra to boost?

    • +1

I’m a simslut and rotate between Boost (cashback with profit), Telstra (buy 2 or 3 when it’s half price at coles or Woolies) and sometimes amaysim (when they have a half price or deal online or in coles/Woolies).

      • which Telstra plans do you buy?
