FAQ thanks to BG

Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including May 31 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

Enjoy!

I don't get out of bed unless there is a Boost sim deal with profit.

      https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/374884416983?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

Is this you mate? Some savvy ozbargainer is taking their $2.20 profit, then trying to sell for $6 on eBay (even telling the buyer they have to activate by the end of the month so they still get their cashback lol) so probably making another $4 after postage and eBay fees lol.

  • Cannot use it for recharge existing number now ( point 12) , their system catches it and they could possibly ban your number !

    • I didn't think you could ever use these to recharge? Or do you mean, you can't play dumb with the chat reps and get them to apply it to your account anymore?

      • Yup, they say last month you were dumb too!

  • +3

    Gimme $4+ bro…. HOOOLD…

    We’re in a bull market.

  • Picked one up, ready to ditch Vodafail.

        more like welcome to Telstrash

I have way better reception with Vodafone in Sydney CBD train tunnels than anything else.

  • +3

i lost $2000 in crypto.. thanks to boost/cashrewards deal, i made half of the wat i lost.
Next, need to make profits to a buy a tesla.

  • does everyone always get the cashback? any stories of the contrary?

    • +4

My last one hasn't tracked. I will have to open dispute. Don't get greedy and buy multiples, as it's not worth the headache. I'll only buy 1 sim at a time. Easier to manage that way too.

      • Have you tried PMing TA? He’s extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

        • Yes. He tried to help but couldn't resolve with the merchant.

      • If you mean buy 2x SIMs, but on two separate orders, then I always do this with no cashback problems.

If you mean buy 2x in the same order, they tell us at the top of every deal post that cashback WILL fail. ("Multiple SIM purchases need to be made as separate transactions. Adding more than one SIM to an order will result in an untracked purchase.")

    • +2

Either use the app or a "clean" web browser. Never had an issue.

  • so what's the max number of sims one could do?

    • As many as you want.

    • +1

read in earlier posts, that its 35

    • +2

It's more a pain when you can't activate online and spend 30mins on chat giving same details that you did online…. But$2 is $2…

      • Is that what happens at Boost (and most likely Telstra too) when you have 5 or more active sims?

Happened to me many times over the years, I lose count of how many active sims I currently have,

and use various Telcos which makes it even harder. Been on the 12 month Prepaid sims now for

18 months for my main number as porting was getting too hit and miss and too much hassle for me.

        • +2

You can now see all your active but expired numbers in the Boost app. Feels like I have finally achieved something in life when I get to scroll it lol

          • @Alley Cat: Sure, I see that. I only see one active boost sim and 3 expired (sure it was 4 last week lol),

as I'm pretty sure these are the only Boost sims I have activated in last 12 months.

So if I am able to activate more than 5 sims in 12 months, will they all show up in the app,

or only the supposed maximum of 5?

            • +1

@ozhunter68: I only have 8 expired showing at the moment, not feeling pressured to buy a Tesla, so haven’t worked for a while lol Also had a rep getting mad at me for owning 3 active but expired numbers at one stage, that kinda discouraged my side gig. I don’t think their support system is capable of pulling out numbers based on IDs, which makes sense considering the cost of owning multiple numbers, because normal ppl don’t get a number then discard it after a month.

I think they might be purged after 6 months.

              • @Alley Cat: Yeah, I've been drilled by "unhappy" reps myself.

So do all 8 expired sims show up in the app assuming they are acivated less than 12 months ago?

      • I'm not gay/straight/lesbian/bisexual/asexual, but $2.20 is $2.20…..

  • +2

With this profit, I can buy two cans of beans.

    • +4

      many are saving for tesla.

      • +1

Other people can use their windfall profits to defray the cost of a Tesla and/or luxury yacht, but I'm here for beans and homebrand milk.

  • Yeay I skipped out the $2 bonus deal (actually forgot to buy it that time) good thing.

Now I can buy more of these $2.2 profit ones

    • What about the $3 one next week, and the $4 one the week after that? In fact, better hold off buying any at all. (More for me.)

      • $3 is the recent historic high methinks. Holding…

Edit: I stand corrected, $4.20 is where it's at.

  • +1

Sigh I just bought one like a few hours ago for the $1 profit.

      Sorry new here,
Why cant you purchase another one with current offer?

  • How long would it take to send out the SIM card?

    • +1

      See point 8.

      • Thanks. My bad for not reading it

  • Can't even go past the payment stage. Keeps telling me something is wrong.

    • See point 11.

      • Yep, I've done that too. But nothing I change seems to work.

That said, I do have a few SIM from Boost.

        • Contact Boost Support Live chat, they will help you activate it. Just remember to have a valid form of ID along with your Boost Sim Serials.

          • @AkuroPlays: I can't even buy them let alone activate it.

            • @t25: What does it say?

              • @AkuroPlays: "SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG
We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later."

That's after paying with credit card.

                • @t25: How many sims did you buy in the last 2-3 days? Something which I have noticed is that you can only purchase 4-5 sims per debit/credit card.

                  • @AkuroPlays: None. I did however use the same card to buy other SIMs from Boost previously for the last few months.

  • Sorry new here,
Why cant you purchase the one with current offer?

  • +1

Which sim is best to port out to? Voda needs a recharge before it can be activated.

    • Looks like Kmart has the Amaysim $10 starter pack half price, $5, 2 options when activating, 7 day with 10gig data, 28 day with 1gig data.
No cost when activating it has $10 credit.
      1 year to activate.

Vodafone charges to port out from btw.

      • +2

Vodafone charges to port out from btw.

        Dogs.

      • +1

Vodafone charges to port out from btw.

Only on post-paid services, not pre-paid. (And apparently if you want to port out from a Vodafone post-paid service, converting it to pre-paid first, then porting, avoids the port out fee, but it looks as though it's a bit convoluted.)

      • This will do nicely, thanks!!

        • If you need more than one port out within 12mnths grab a couple whilst half price, 12mnths to activate.

  • So if you buy multiple ones are you porting over your existing number each time you change sims every 28 days?

  • Has anyone recently activated Boost SIM ? Trying few days now and getting "Something went wrong, We're unable to process the request at this time. Please try again later" error.
Tried with different devices, browsers and internet connections and getting same error.

  • Friend ported out from Telstra to Boost last Sunday. It’s very odd as while his phone number works for calls on his number, the boost number is locked in for imsg.

Have tried everything to sort imsg but nothing.

Boost not seem to know how to fix - keep suggesting same things tried and failed.

Plus when he sends texts from his number he gets msg “not delivered “ but the recipient DOES receive msg.

    He’s gone to ombudsman.

    Anyone know issue?

    • Problems like this seem to arise when porting to the same network. In this case Telstra to Telstra.

      • Thanks for reply. I had seen that through other comments over time.
Belong and Boost are both Telstra and I’ve had no problems when porting back and forth between those…..

        Ombudsman said to call Telstra.
It’s critical that he NOT lose this number.
I was wondering if he ported out from boost to optus if that’d fix it ?

        Wondering if @tightarse would know.

        UPDATE to my posts
        Telstra gave the solution:
        iPhone
        1 Open Settings
        2 Go to Phone
3 Scroll down to My Number
4 Type in the correct number

Just fyi for anyone else who May
        Encounter that problem.

Did so many other things and it was that simple

  • Thanks, Can afford costco hotdog now.

  • +1

I bought one recently. Just sharing the below if it wasnt made clear in the notes above:
    1) You can activate this boost prepaid under your current boost account. It will appear in your current boost account as a separate number (assuming you're not porting over)

    2) There is a slight delay between when the sim is activated and when it apppears in the app. Took about an hour for me

    3) I recall when activating ot mentioned something about 25gb recharge, but this sim does come with 50gb.

    4) Delivery to a suburb outside the city took 2 days from order date. I didnt need to be at home, they placed it in the mailbox.

  • +1

With deals like this, do people just keep ordering to get a profit? I don't see a cap.

  • +1

Purchase in the morning still not yet tracked, as opposed to instant tracking in the past!!! Anyone experiencing the same problem?

    • Tracking used to be very fast, but now also waiting for more than 30 minutes.
I'll check later, if not tracked tomorrow might PM TA.

      • Yes used to be very fast, almost instant

    • Or anyone who ordered today and already got tracked?

      • mine tracked (varies between instant and 5 minutes)

      • +1

        @poorguy @johnmelb

        Please see here. Thank you.

    • Same not tracked

    • no tracking either for me or my partner.

firefox and chrome with the extension installed.

      • No tracking for me as well

    • +1

No tracking yet for me either, as opposed to previous orders when it tracked moments after the order confirmation from Boost.

      What's going on?

      • @Bii @Its4me @Rakibul @InfamousCalf @zhaoweizhi

        Please see here. Thank you.

  • Does it actually impact your chances of getting targeted for the Cashrewards $10/$5 Cashback Bonus on $10 Spend when you claim these mobile cashbacks?

    • +1

Well I've bought hundreds of these things and never got a targeted offer until a few weeks ago. Make of that what you will.

    • +1

I would say so. But I wouldn't wait to be targeted if I saw a deal which is useful to me. The chance is you might not dven get targeted any time soon.

  • can you just purchase 50 of these and get $100 in profit?

  • Same as others, no instant tracking today, paid at 0:05. Using Firefox with cashrewards extension activated.

  • +9

Hi guys. We’ve just paused Boost on Cashrewards as we can see no orders have tracked to members since 2:30pm on Thursday 17th August. We’ll be in contact with Boost first thing to establish the issue and hopefully have this sorted.

I’ll update here when I know more, and please rest assured you have nothing to worry about. As always, we will sort this out. Thank you and have a pleasant day ahead :)

    • was making an order not long before you paused boost mobile and upon submitting payment errored out, never had an error on payment before
wonder if boost has some mechanism to know CR paused tracking or the error is coincidence

      • Thanks TA, was just going to order without checking here first and saw the store was 'temporary unavailable' on CR, hope it gets resolved soon
