Good deal OP. Especially when 3050's are still floated as deals at a grand lately.

  • So considering how the 4050 45w held up decently against the 3060 140w in those videos, you could assume this 75w model would mostly be about equal to the 3060 140w in most games?

Also, the first few games in the video had the 4050 45w surpassing the 3060 140w with Frame Generation turned on, but what is Frame Generation? Is it a 4000 series thing?

It's a 4000 series thing, where it will use a little processing to output double the frames through inference and interpolation. It works in combination with DLSS upscaling, and NVIDIA reflex (to squeeze out extra input latency).

As a rule of thumb, you should only use it when DLSS without frame generation is delivering 60 FPS or more.

        Thanks, I learned something :)

    • jarrod did a video explaining how power usage is DIFFERENT in 4050 4060 and 4070 laptop gpus, there is little gain above 80w and almost none above 100w.

Price is almost OK, just keep in mind this model will have the crappiest possible display panel (68% sRGB gamut, really slow response times). If you're buying this to game on without buying an additional gaming monitor down the road, skip it and ideally spend the extra $100-$200 on something with better specs.

There seems to be a limited amount of laptop shipments coming to Australia at the moment, but I can only assume that means global stock is limited or wholesaler pricing is ridiculous. Wait it out, as just like GPU pricing, they'll have to come to the party and drop prices.

  • Take on the issues of the 4050 with future games in mind

    • Thanks for sharing. Very insightful.

  • Maybe if it had 16gb dual channel. 8 GB is a joke.

Worth spending the extra 250 for this one?

  • Probably 1.5 hours of use on battery and that not gaming use.
