          • @delfredo: I think it will be pretty quick after then - just you have to stay on that plan until 1st November.

            • @danyool: An update on this - I signed up my parents place direct on Origin website first to try and initiate the $100 bonus credit, and then a day later, joined on the family and friends deal/link (as it was cheaper rates).

There's a credit of $125 showing on the account now!! Not sure why it's more than $100 mentioned and no further details yet, but maybe see it on the next bill.

              • +1

@danyool: I think the $125 is from NSW National Energy Bill Relief

Most households will receive their payment in quarterly instalments of $125 from 31 July 2023.

                • @O O: Ah. Ok. Thanks. False alarm on the sign up credit then. Still, best rates on family deal, so it will be a bonus anyhow if it comes.

  • OVO is cheaper than this.

    • OVO is cheaper than this.

I just compared it to this plan for me in VIC

The supply charge for OVO is 29% more than Origin
The usage charge is exactly the same.

  • Can you sign up to this deal with your Woolworth Rewards?

    • +1

No, that is a different Origin plan, and for me, the Woolworths rewards plan works out to be about $60 more per year.

  • Thanks, I'm with Origin and my daily supply charge is going from 119c to 114c. I should really pay attention to these things - looking at my plan I could have sworn I was on another :o

    • Id look around. Im in SA…

      Switched to Globird today…

      Origin:

      Daily Supply
      103.235 c/day

      General Usage 0-11
      44.550 c/kWh

      General Usage 11+
      48.070 c/kWh

      Globird:

      Daily Charge
      $/Day 0.99000

      Anytime Usage - First 30 kWh/Day#
      $/kWh 0.34540

      Anytime Usage - Balance
      $/kWh 0.36850

  • For where I live, Central West NSW, Daily Supply 158.04 ¢/day and General Usage 35.67 ¢/kWh.

  • +2

Unfortunately it only seems to work with the Origin Go Variable plan so not good if you have solar :(

    • I’m in Canberra like the OP and the 10c feed in tariff is about as good as anything else I’ve found in Canberra.

      • Yer. I signed up my friend in Canberra on this. He is getting 10c FIT and 18 cents general usage I think.

  • I was offered this as a 35% off Go Variable deal when I called a few weeks ago and asked for the best available plan.

I just called and asked for a better deal again. They could only do the same gas deal, although could do 39% off electricity, which comes down to the following for ACT:

    General Usage
    17.319 cents per kWh
    Daily Supply
    69.952 cents per day

If you can be bothered waiting on hold, may be worth calling for an even better deal!

    • who did you speak to to get a better deal?? Did you have to ask for retentions or something? Anyone I have spoken to in the past just say they can't do better than whatever is on the website….which is only 7% off atm….might depend also on what state you are in. I am in NSW western Sydney. Those rates you are getting are insanely cheap compared to our best rates (even with this 12% off deal)

      • ACT does have very good rates in general right now. I did speak to retentions and a supervisor I believe. Had a few customer service issues before this and used it as a reason I should get a better deal, which they did.

        • OK, might try my luck after our last bill error shocker….took at least 4 phone calls and 4 hours of my time to fix it (mainly) then they started taking money before the amount was due (i received numerous sms saying different dates it would debit….was assured it would be the date on the final …correct….bill….nope….will see if they actually do the proper debit today like they are supposed to

        • no dice…they just say they don't have an inbound retentions team….only an outbound one and only certain customers get the call and only if they are moving to another retailer….so, not sure how you were able to speak to retentions…..wish I could. She said the 12% off is the best I can get.

          • @souths123: I asked for a supervisor to call me back as I was strongly considering changing retailer. Took 2 weeks til I finally got the phone call, then received this offer. But to be honest, was a hassle so wouldn’t bother again…

            • @AKJJ: ok, at no time would anyone either put me onto a supervisor or say they could call me back….even when I asked for one and even then when I said I was thinking of going to another retailer….they obv just don't care about long term customers anymore

  • For NSW mid-north coast, Red Energy Qantas Red Saver is a <very> slightly better deal for single rate:
    Anytime 0.36
    Daily 1.54
And bonus signup Qantas points + 2 QFF/$1

    Origin deal for here is
    Anytime 0.36
    Daily 1.58

  • For inner Melbourne this was pricier than my current deal with Globird

Electricity Daily supply Origin 85.3c vs 66c GloBird
General Usage Origin 21.25c/kw vs 18.7c GloBird

Gas Daily Supply Origin 79.18c v 63.8c GloBird
    General Usage Origin 3.33c v 3.025c GloBird

Then add the occasional $50 discount on my bill when OzBargainers message me for a $50 referral code a few times a year

    • how long have you been with Globird? I am always wary of the new players as you hear so many stories of being ripped off…..i.e. not getting the deal you signed up for and rates increasing randomly etc.

    • Im in SA and just signed up to them today.

      Origin:

      Daily Supply
      103.235 c/day

      General Usage 0-11
      44.550 c/kWh

      General Usage 11+
      48.070 c/kWh

      Globird:

      Daily Charge
      $/Day 0.99000

      Anytime Usage - First 30 kWh/Day#
      $/kWh 0.34540

      Anytime Usage - Balance
      $/kWh 0.36850

    • Wow inner Melbourne got it good.

https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/ if you want to compare your plans.

    • +3

Most of the time the website is out of date or doesn't include deals available on the energy provider's site. Rather than giving me an approximate yearly cost for my energy, I would much rather they just list the supply and usage charges in the results. Its an ok tool to use to do an initial comparison, but make sure to check against the provider's website.

      • Yeah, I don't like that website. It seems misleading and confusing. I uploaded my bill and it gave me a comparison for the next bill period. I don't want to compare apples with oranges. Other searches based on my bill data gave more expensive results (which I guess I should be happy with) but why didn't it at least show me plans with the same price (e.g. my current one) if it's going to show me more expensive ones.

If it doesn't include all the plans available for comparison, it's misleading IMO. Misleading in a way that favours retailers and that doesn't smell right for a government website IMO.

  • I am currently getting a FIT of 20c but rates are higher .39 per kw and .89 supply charge. Any recommendations to switch to a different retailer?

    • How to get 20c FIT?

      • Very old plan and the retailer had decided to leave as is

        • Interesting, I thought retailer will kick customers off a plan rather than grandfather it. I was on EA's No Frills plan before they said its no longer offered and jacked up the rates via a new plan offer.

          • @xdigger: I was getting 22c FIT with AGL last year. When I moved house, they won’t allow me to carry the plan over :-(

  • I'm currently with Origin (Electric + Internet) and I got the $10/month off the Internet bill due to that bundle.
When I click the link in this post to change my energy plan, there's a step to add Internet and get $15/month off from the electric+internet bundle - has anyone tried this?
I'm afraid I might got charged twice for the Internet…

    • you shouldn't if you log into your account when prompted to (it asks if you are already a customer)

  • Just did a quote for the Essential Energy area against my electricity (OVO) and gas (AGL) suppliers.

Rates were hideously more expensive for both and no sign-up credits were included unlike my two suppliers. I won't neg the deal though because someone it might work well for someone else.

  • Oo is this deal only valid for 12 months? What happens after 12 months, do you revert back to the standard rate?

    • yes, you go to the reference price with no discount. They usually notify you that you are getting close to the plan finishing, but I always note it down just in case, and look for the best deal I can get before it expires. I always keep an eye out for better deals during the year as well. Sometimes there is a better offer, so I just sign up to the newer 12 month offer. You can sign up as many times during the year as you want without penalty.

  • +1

WTF, you guys have it DIRT CHEAP. This is my "offer" from this deal…

    Supply Charge
    Daily Supply
    95.63 ¢/day
    Usage Charges
    General Usage 0-11
    41.27 ¢/kWh
    General Usage 11+
    44.61 ¢/kWh

What absolute shit prices we get here in SA…

    • +1

      Wow usage is insane!

  • In wa we have 110c supply and 30c per kWh. I thought we were a lot cheaper over here but that origin deal is super cheap.

  • +1

    Gold Coast

Best appears what I currently have in with origin.

    10.000 c/kWh solar feed-in tariff
    Solar Meter Charge 8.526
    Daily Supply 120.593
    Usage 28.842

  • +2

    Thanks OP!

I got my $150 credit from the previous deal, and have now swapped over to this new plan… prices have already been confirmed, cheers.

ACT has second cheapest power prices in Australia thanks to government policy pushing renewables. The cheapest power in Australia is Tasmania (but they have their massive hydro network- funnily enough RENEWABLES!).

  • +1

Only 6c feed in here in SA, but there is a significant saving across the board with these rates.. THANK YOU!!!!!

    • Agree. I recent changed plan to 12c FIT but this FF works out cheaper even with only 6c FIT. YMMV

    • Whats your rate? Origin is absolutely terrible prices for me in SA. Switched to Globird today…

      Origin:

      Daily Supply
      103.235 c/day

      General Usage 0-11
      44.550 c/kWh

      General Usage 11+
      48.070 c/kWh

      Globird:

      Daily Charge
      $/Day 0.99000

      Anytime Usage - First 30 kWh/Day#
      $/kWh 0.34540

      Anytime Usage - Balance
      $/kWh 0.36850

So yeah Origin go stick it, been with them since i moved out of home. They couldnt care less about keeping customers.

  • Thanks for posting OP! I just changed my plans using this link. Not as good deals as some other states but definitely the cheapest I have seen for Melbourne Northern suburbs.

  • Signed up with Origin in SA on 25th June
On 1st July recieved first increase then another a week later.

Safe to say was only with them 2 weeks

Don’t buy into their promos it’s just a hook to charge you more later

  • anyone recommend a good, reliable retailer of electricity that has great rates?. (better than single rate of 33.84c/kWh and daily of 81.45c)…NSW western Sydney (Endeavour Energy supplier). I have heard horror stories about some of them not honouring discounts or upping rates willy nilly after sign up. In that respect I have never had an issue with Origin in all the years I have used them.

  • Signed up two hours ago as an existing customer but still haven't received any confirmation. Called them and they seem to be reluctant to do it for me. I was asked why I want to change when I am already on the Variable GO plan (the friends and family deal is still 5% cheaper) and it can only be signed up via the link. I was also told that the confirmation will come in 72 hours but I don't think I will ever receive anything. Had multiple online sign-up attempts in the last few months and none of them went through. Good price but very frustrated with their online system.

    • Maybe switch to one of their others then back to the variable. I was on one of the others and switched to variable, went through instantly

      • Thanks mate. I reapplied after a few days and it worked!

  • Thanks OP! Signed up for the parentals - confirmed online & via email instantly.

  • Thanks OP! Switched my gas plan but the higher solar feed-in tariffs with my current Origin solar boost plan makes it better value.

  • Thanks OP. Signed up to the targeted Everyday Rewards deal over a month ago. Received my points and sign up bonus, so the cut in rates very convenient!

    • I did the same

      • +1

Hmmm they have emailed me to say they can't put through the order as they can't locate my gas meter. Pretty funny as they are my current supplier :/

  • Changed to Energy Locals in VIC, not sure how their rates compare but this is what we are paying (I worked out the membership per month is about the equivalent of 1.6kWh of energy per day - how they make their margin and provide a lower daily supply charge to most):

    Detailed Rates (incl GST)

    Membership 12.99 ($/month)
    Anytime 29.00 (c/kWh)
    Daily Supply 74.00 (c/day)
    Retailer feed-in tariff (first 10 kWh/day) 8.80 (c/kWh)^
    Retailer feed-in tariff (remaining generation) 5.20 (c/kWh)^

  • Cheers OP. Signed up and still have the $150 credit in the account from the June deal. This one makes it even cheaper.

  • Cant you just use the compare energy website to get the best price?

    https://compare.energy.vic.gov.au/

  • thanks OP. signed up and it immediately switched over from my current Go Variable plan to the discounted rate. every saving helps!

  • The electricity plan is not avalailble for my area, Casey, South East Melbourne

  • +1

I called up and they were able to give me 30% off my electricity. I'm in the ACT. I can post the actual rates when I get the details if anyone is interested to know.

    • Hey, I am interested to know what you asked for, I called em up and they just said the best rates are on our website and the deal in this thread is for friends of Origin Employees…
Perhaps I just got someone bad on the phone.

When I pop in my address on this page I get the following error "Sorry! This plan isn't available for you right now.
Looks like we're facing issues processing your request at this time. Please try again later or call us on 13 24 61, and we'll be able to help you."
      I am in Belconnen area…

      • +1

I got these rates for electricity:

        Charge description Cost (incl GST)
        Off-peak 14.790 cents per kWh
        Peak 26.681 cents per kWh
        Shoulder 18.790 cents per kWh
Daily Supply 80.273 cents per day

I saw some previous comments with better rates though (up to 39% off) so it certainly YMMV. Is it very different to what you received?

        • @jesho check the rates of this deal as it is better, even in the ACT.

          Charge description Cost (incl GST)
          Off-peak 13.730 cents per kWh
          Peak 24.775 cents per kWh
          Shoulder 17.450 cents per kWh
Daily Supply 74.539 cents per day

just click through and you should be able to update from the plan they have just offered you if you want.

          • @gambino: Geez he said it was even better than the 5% off deal. Thanks, I'll sign up on the link.

            • @jesho: Thanks, I can confirm the link still works - thanks again OP and gambino!

      • @Anon257 Try again or refresh the page, I put in an old address at Belconnen and it still works.

        • Thanks @jesho and @gr8mind, I had to select "Electricity only" for it to work.
          I am getting a Daily Supply: 74.54 ¢/day and General Usage: 18.46 ¢/kWh

I guess I have to go with General Usage instead of ToU as it gives me no other option? Not sure which works out cheaper as I am at the office for most of the day and usually come home late.

          • @Anon257: 18.46c seems reasonable if you're primarily using electricity in the evening peak when you get home from work!

  • Okay I got lucky got a call from EA NSW today and they offered 31% discount which is lower than what I pay with EA and much lower than 1st Aug hike. It defeats Origin as well hands down by at least 20%

    • Is that with solar export, how much in FIT did they offer?

      • 7.6 for Solar

  • +1

Hi guys, to follow up, ActewAGL came to the party in CBR and offered me a much better rate than I'm currently on (still slightly worse than Origin's) and a $200 credit. Thanks again OP.

  • Hi guys, how long does it take to complete the transfer with Origin? I m with AGL and the estimated bill is insanely high :(

    • Same here

      • I m seeing $845 for 2 months (estimated costs), which is very concerning.

  • +1

Looks like they have jacked the price again. :(

  • Is the offer still working for anyone else? I put in my address and get a green tick but the page no longer changes to show me the rates.

    • +1

      Just tested and still works.

      • I accidentally left a vpn running which screwed it up. Works fine when accessing directly. Thanks for checking.

  • 7c / kWh FiT kills the deal for me. I don't use grid electricity outside of controlled load, so I am looking for a balance between the lowest daily charge and the highest FiT.

  • I have 20 cent feed in tarrif with Origin, so I can't change energy plan

  • Thanks

  • I am on AGL’s “Value Saver” plan . Price change - 1 Jul 23 to 24 Aug 23. Hills District (Greater Sydney). No Solar.
    …..
General usage - At all times - $0.3423
    Controlled load 1 - At all times - $0.2398
    Supply charge - Daily - $1.0036
    CL1 Supply charge - Daily - $0.0714
    …..
    .
Which is the best provider/plan you can recommend me to look at? Thanks.

  • I can't sign up as Origin refuses to recognise my address

    • HAHA. The machines are already controlling the world!

  • appears that $150 credit is back

    • +1

But the $150 bonus is for new customers only.

  • Guys I've been out of the house for a while. moving back in in dec. is this good for Gold Coast QLD? we have a 5kw solar. any other recommendations? TIA

Standard retailer feed-in tariff incl GST where applicable

    • Really depends on how much your solar system produces.

Origin offers 12c uncapped solar fit if you know who to ask, can outweigh the higher usage charges that come with that plan.

      • Who do you have to ask?

  • I use this to find my energy company/ies

    https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/

  • I found this company called Tango Energy, and for NSW, its 30% cheaper than Origin Prices
    Supply Charge 0.66000 $/day
    Rate Flat 0.26 $/kWh

    • +1

read bad reviews for this company. I will stick with Origin. I also sign up with deals through Fiftyup etc and getting a $150 credit after 1st March. Got one This month as well for my previous plan. The Origin Go one has to be a new customer to get the credit, but doesn't seem that way with the Fiftyup, or One Big Switch Origin deals

  • What if already on origin go? Any way to apply this?
