[VIC] Louisiana Grills Pellet Smoker LG1000 $699 (Was $999) @ Costco, Docklands (Membership Required)

160

As in the title, $300 off. No experience with this brand or model but pellet smokers are great. Good size for smoking etc and this is very cheap for a pellet smoker.

It was at Costco Perth Airport as well. I have the older model & its brilliant for the price i got it for. The build quality is much better than similar priced ones.

    • Same price at the airport? Do you know if they had a lot of stock?

      • do you have any luck to find one in perth?

  • Any pellets on sale anywhere?

It’s wood pellets that probably starts with electricity. I’ve never heard of a gas pellet smoker before

Also it’s not a ban on the use of gas. It sounds like your love of gas has effected your air quality and your brain activity

      • Yep - Usually these run with an electric, ceramic style igniter and only burn the pellets.

Please leave Victoria then, hell, Australia

    • Have you seen how expensive gas is… Daft to be using gas as it is.

You keep on regurgitating that LNP propaganda like a good little fascist.

  • Much better to save up for a kamado instead

Unless you just want to set the temp and come back in 10 hours

@sator - As someone that owns a Kamado, A pellet smoker is much more convenient.

Sure, for longer cooks the Kamado is more "fuel" efficient. But you have to wait 30 - 60 minutes for the unit to come up to temp and deal with the white smoke it belts out until it does. Which can be an issue if you're using it on an apartment balcony.

If I could go back in time, I'd much rather buy a pellet smoker over my series 3 Kamado Joe.

      • You reckon a pellet smoker could be used on an apartment balcony?

I’m so keen to get one but am scared of complaints… I’ve heard there’s a fair bit of smoke on start-up

@wormarts - I am not 100% as it would depend on the design of your balcony and how much airflow you get etc.

But I am always worried I haven't shut down my Kamado Joe properly and the temp will climb etc as I'm sleeping or it will explode and be a fire hazard, due to how hot it gets.

At least with a pellet smoker, you can rapidly cool it down.

I find the Kamado is also a bit overkill if you're cooking for 1 - 2 people. Like say I'm cooking chicken wings, sausages etc. It takes nearly 1 hour to come up to temp, then you have to wait a few hours to cool down etc and it's a waste. Especially with my fire hazard paranoia.

If you're cooking high temperature items, you also have to let the temperature drop before shutting it down and it can stay hot for nearly 8 hours.

If I had a backyard or was cooking for 3+ people I wouldn't have an issue with it, even if I was just using it on the weekend. But it's not something I can use as my only BBQ device.

  • Had one of these- pretty solid for the price. The electrical pellet feeder part died after about 10 cooks (there was flare back into the pellet feeder and the whole hooper would light up on fire). Called Costco and they were more than happy to refund.

For $699, worth a shot for a first timer before you go for an upgrade. Similar size pellet grill in other brands are 2k+ easily.

I'm tempted to pick one up….. The only problem being I can't afford meat to actually cook in it!

Made from the same parent company as PitBoss apparently.

It won't be the meat, it'll be the pellets.

      • Got any good smoked mince recipes 😂

For pellets, there's a few old, green telegraph poles about the neighbourhood, they should be good to go……👀🙃
