A good price for this hygrometer
Includes humidity sensor, and temperature sensor.
Best part is AAA battery for power source.
Similar ones are like $30 on eBay

Temperature gauge range: -58°C–158°F (-50°C–70°C) accurate to ±1°F/°C
Humidity meter range: 10%-99%, accuracy to ±2%-3%
Comfort indicator: Dry, Comfortable, Wet
Temperature Display: Fahrenheit or Celsius
Temperature Resolution: 0.1 °F/°C
Humidity Resolution: 1%

Package should hopefully come with a AAA battery included in it as per listing description (which I believe is based on 2 hygrometer option thus saying
Package: 2* Temp and Humidity Monitors, 2* AAA batteries, 1* User Manual)

Also who knows what came in some seller's mind putting 1 for $8.99 and 2 for $22.39

Only if you buy it but don’t need it.

For $3 more, you can get the bluetooth version that downloads data onto their app….

    • which one is $12 ?? ($3 more than $8.99 ?)

        • That's aliexpress not amazon.
you forgetting Shipping, and taxes (although not that much extra but longer wait times)

          • -2

            @USER DC: OK Total:AU$13.68 delivered…

Still worth it for bluetooth and data export to the app…

Other places sell it for around $30

            • @jv:

              data export to the app

What do you use that data for?

              • @PainToad:

What do you use that data for?

                tracking humidity

            but longer wait times

            It's about a week.

            • @jv: It would be much more humid, and likely a good deal cooler by then…

            • @jv: Are there many items that take only one week to get here via AliExpress? I thought 15 days is their best guaranteed free delivery time to Australia

              • @y2k:

My last two have been a week.

Also I ordered one on Friday, and Australia post tracking has it for deliver tomorrow…

  • Might as well grab the Xiaomi Mijia's as those can be flashed with custom firmware and made to integrate with Home Assistant.

One problem (more like personal preference) is that Xiaomi ones are having 2032 coin battery. Nothing that bad, especially if you need multiple quantity or Home assistant capability.
But I personally prefer ability to use AAA/AA rechargeable Batteries over coin batteries that's why I got this one.

      • I have a few of these and they are all in a drawer because they chew through a 2032 within a month or two

My thermpro running on aaa batteries last a year, shame it's not Bluetooth

      • Here's a amazon top deal on AAA rechargeable NiMH battery to go with the deal too $12.23 8 pcs 600 mAH JINTION Brand
        https://www.amazon.com.au/JINTION-AAA-Rechargeable-Batteries…

But I believe the package should already come with a AAA battery

        • They don't last as long on rechargeables due to the lower voltage

          • @jjsnacks: Good to know thanks.

            • @USER DC: Still worth using them, the screen fades out and they need to be recharged, lasts a lot longer on cheap Bunnings aaa

              • @jjsnacks: It works perfectly fine on Rechargeable batteries (currently using AAAA (yes 4xA) battery 400 mAh Odec imported from USA). Only need 1 for this Thermopro brand (expect AAA to perform even better with larger capacities). Currently measuring mine around 70 %, and dehumidifier not really doing much IMO.

The AAAA batteries however do not work well with the hygrometer received in box with the dehumidifier deal posted by pennies on low quantity thread (2 x for $55 something if you managed to grab lightening + BOGOF otherwise like $67 or something like that)

  • Thanks OP, bought 4 to replace my xiaomi ones (which chew up button batteries). I too prefer AAA batteries

    • +1

      Hope you bought 4 x size 1 (not 2 x size 2) 😂

      • Yes I did! Noticed 2 pack was $20+

    • +1

Time to buy some more Eneloops ?

  • What are people using these for?

Only reason I had one was when I was running an evaporative cooler and monitoring indoor humidity

    • dry box for 3d printer filament.

Got one thermopro brand with 24 hour/all time min/max

also have used it to make sure a second hand freezer was working properly.

  • Not 9 anymore :(

  • $22 now.

    • That's for a 2-pack

  • +2

I wouldn’t buy if needing accuracy. I bought one of these and it was reading 9.8’C in my 3’C fridge (left it in for 2 hours). Wrote to ThermoPro and they sent me a replacement, which I put outside in the shade on a 19’C day here in Perth…it was reading 28’C.

    • This. I bought this, the pricey wifi Ubibot that can be plugged into a USB A slot for power, and a similar one from Govee with BT
and put them alongside three cheapies I had including the cheapie that NSW Health gives you with a new baby.

The NSW Health one was way off, the worst by far. The others were similar. This Thermopro was 2-3 degrees off. The Ubibot was also off but at least you can calibrate the sensors.

  • 4.99 in another shopping place
I got the good ones from Muujiji
a very expensive one that lights up is from Ikea
    https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/vindstyrka-air-quality-sensor-s…

    • Looks like someone else negged you for not telling us the other place, but good heads up about the IKEA one. Hard to find USB options.

    • i bought the ikea one for the added pm2.5 sensor. it's pretty accurate!

    Bought to store my eneloops

  • is this good for growing certain plants with "medicinal" purposes? asking for a friend

    • +1

Not really. You’re better off using fertiliser on your herbs

    • ?? the soil humidity pH meters are different than these ones. Last time I checked it was also around the same $7-10 mark everywhere, (like kogan, ebay, amazon etc.)

  • not wanting to be replacing batteries I have instead bought a bunch of like $2-3 white plastic/glass tube/red alcohol thermometers with a humidity dial at the bottom (maybe from DAISO?) and I have blu-tacked some of these to the outside of our south bedroom window and north balcony sliding door glass - I also have about 5 others around the internal rooms of the house

benefit being can go outside - get rained on and continue to work (I place them out of any sunlight to avoid false readings), no need to replace batteries, and cheaper to buy
