  Those tricky buggers !, they had a 15% OFF sale for some of the same hotels I checked last week and they have hiked the price by more than $10+/night !, Now they have a 20% off sale and prices inc. tax seems to have gone UP by $100+ total ! LOL

    …and do not trust most of their "BEST RATE GUARANTEEs"! I learned that most of them mean nothing, even coming from reputable companies. One example being expedia.com: I booked a hotel with them only to find it much cheaper on another site within minutes. Same hotel, same days. When I tried to take expedia up on their Best Price Guarantee (a $50 expedia voucher), they were searching left, right and centre to find a difference between the offers. The person I dealt with on the phone plus his supervisor. Finally they found that I could cancel my room with expedia up to 2 days before at 6pm, while the other site had a cancellation policy of up to noon that day. The websites only stated "cancel up to 2 days before arrival", but his ambitious supervisor found this in the small print. A difference of 6hrs. "This means we're offering the better conditions on this deal and therefore the Guarantee doesn't apply.", he announced happily to me.
    You be the judge on this… ;)

    (By the way, or "my disclaimer": by no means did I try to hijack this thread to whine about expedia or similar sites. After all, they were in the right. But it was a little eye opener for me and as a result I relied less on those "guarantees" when making a decision and thought of them more of as a sneaky marketing gimmick (lovely jetstar excepted of course). I thought it was an interesting anecdote to share with you guys here, that's all. Ratestogo has good deals sometimes and, as always, you need to compare them individually. Kudos to the original poster.)

  Pro Tip, always do your research with all the sites you can find. There is no such a thing as a one stop shop, as soon as there is one, they turn around and capitalise on such repute.

  Interesting: ratestogo uses exactly the same system as cheaptickets.com, apart from the logo on the top everything else is the same. And guess what: the hotels appear in exactly the same order, just that the ratestogo prices are between 15-20% more expensive during this special. Hmmm… :)

  I have never had any luck with these hotel search sites. For me, it has ALWAYS been cheaper booking direct at the hotel.
