As per the OPs details above

      • I think jv is making the point that its not great for the environment. Often times the grease/oil just simply makes its way out to our oceans. And kills the baby penguins 😞

It's industrial waste that's turning the oceans toxic, not consumer degreaser use effluent.

          • @umexcuseme: "Consumer" degreaser is helping to clean up our oceans? 😉

              • @umexcuseme: Thanks for the insult, I appreciate it. Made my day. Thanks for stating the obvious too. I had no idea industrial waste is ruining our beautiful oceans 🙄. What I didn't know, however, is that if everyone in my street sprays degreaser in their driveways and carports and garages and then hoses that directly into our wastewater system, well now…..that will assist with purifying our oceans. Which is doesn't, and this is the point I'm making. Cheers. That's enough effluent for one day. 😊 And yes, I sometimes use degreaser too. I think jv was reminding us that if we use it as sparingly as possible, we will be at least doing something to help. Hosing our driveways simply moves the problem out to where we can't see it anymore.

If your engine has oil on it that needs degreasing it is most likely dripping one drop at a time onto road surfaces that then get washed into the environment with or without degreaser being used. Most people just don’t see it as they don’t even lift the bonnet.

      • Didnt realised that its JV,, my bad,,

Was going to get a couple but thought I'd check my stocks first. 12 in the shed from SCA.

14 is a higher number than 12 though, and higher = better.

This stuff really is just useless.
For degreasing, use 33% dish soap in a spray bottle.
It's designed to cut through grease and works WAY better than this mix of waste hydrocarbons.

If you NEED a hydrocarbon based cleaner, spend the money on Brake Cleaner, so you're not getting mixes of junk fluids.
It's only $4 more than buying the 12x cans of this junk.

If it's REALLY baked on, good old CT18 used as directed on the bottle (that is, to let the soap DRY on the surface before washing off) works wonders.
Spent the last few weeks degreasing some old Diesel trucks, so this is something I'm very fafmiliar with at the moment.

And people use CT 18 to wash their vehicles?

        Yes, it's fantastic. Highly recommend.
Car detailing is a passion of mine, and its an amazing wash to prep for things like a wax or ceramic coat.

  • I just picked these up via click collect at my local store…. is it weird they would need to write down my driver licence number for a cc?

I get spotting I.D. and making sure the name matches the order (something Bunnings has never done on any of my orders), but seems weird to writing it down on what i assume is a "dispatch order" type document.

Where is that stored? What purpose does it serve to the business? How many years do they keep it?

Very old way of doing business Repco! Great price on the degreaser though 👏 🤣
