plans aren't as good as optus or vodafone…

        • We beg to differ (of course), but the power of choice is all yours Zelda :) We're available to chat with you 24x7 at this link if you change your mind http://tel.st/dodrz -MH

        • +3

          We beg to differ

Please do tell me how you think these plans are better value for money than your competitor's.

        • Please do tell me how Optus of Vodafone have better coverage.

Don't get it how when it comes to phones people won't spend an extra $2-3 a week to get a much better service, yet probably buy a $10 lunchs everyday

        • Please do tell me how Optus of Vodafone have better coverage

I didn't say that they did. But for many people their coverage can and will do what they want just fine.

It's also much more than $2-$3 per month if you look for the right deals. Which most people on here will be doing.

        • +1

Optus's coverage is great, i've never had a problem

        • Optus is crap.My iPhone home button is basically broke from going in and out of the Internet when it won't connect. Sometimes it's strong but too often it is useless.

        • @kristijan08 so you would stop eating so you get better mobile connection…fair call.

    • +5

You pay a premium for better coverage and an arguable faster speed (it's been struggling a bit lately in popular areas such as Melbourne CBD).

    • Because consumer laws

  • "No public interest". Nah.. only kidding.

I would only suggest make Telstra HFC cable merely "25% more expensive" compared Optusnet.
Had I seen Telstra 500GB naked option when I was shopping, you could have been favored over where I am now $80x24months on a slightly impacted by congestion cablenet.

One month credit for "plan access fee only" is not gunna save much moolah,

I see no real benefit at all really.

Plans probably too complex, too many restrictions.

    Oh dear

Thanks grog, I guess the key piece is if you're "considering buying a new phone" - these are all our normal plans, it's just a little bonus we've got running until Sept 12. You can save between $50 and $130 depending on your choice of Every Day Connect Plan. MH

I second Zelda707, why don't Telstra have cheaper plan such as $19 or $29 mobile plan? Not all people is a heavy user.
At the moment, this is one of the obstruction that prevent me from joining Telstra…

Hi Ben, Online plans start at $50 month BYO (full terms/details at the deal link), Casual plans (with cheaper monthly amounts) are available in our retail stores (pricing available at http://telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/mobile-plans/casual-plan… ). For greater price control prepaid might be a better option? https://onlineshop.telstra.com.au/prepaid-mobile/ Thanks, MH

      • +1

the casual plans are poor value. You can pay the same price at Optus or Vodafone and get a lot more.

        • +1

but who in the world would want to be on Vodafone's network though?

        • ditto, I went to the Ombudsman to get off Vodafone and over to Telstra

  • +5

Telstra… we appreciate your offer, but Ozbargainer's want… bargains! Best coverage on the planet does not maketh a bargain. One month off plans that are well overpriced does not maketh a bargain. Sorry!

    • +2

No need to apologise :) -MH

      • Typical Telstra attitude. "It's ok everyone needs us so we don't care if you are unhappy".

        • +5

That's honestly not our attitude at all. OzBargain members were amongst many customers who asked us for better service in digital channels, that's why - nearly 400 days ago - we launched services like 24x7 live chat and http://Facebook.com/Telstra24x7 - making ourselves available to help customers wherever you are online, whenever you need us. MH

        • -3

If only your retail channels could mirror this attitude maybe my view would change.

        • The 24/7 thing on Facebook is useless. You just give some neutral reply and answer nothing directly (usually claiming you can't answer it for some reason). I've yet to see one actual issue addressed and/or resolved on the service.

On the up-side… Whomever is doing that job could be an effective script writer for Yes Minister.

        • That's honestly not our attitude at all.

In my experience it has been. The service we've encountered has been appalling

    • +2

I agree with you pinches - Telstra needs better deals, however on the flip side a $20 a month for heaps of calls delivered on an unusable network isn't a bargain either.

  • Telstra's $50 a month "S" plan gives you 112 x 5 minute calls, unlimited text and 1 gb data.
Live Connected's $17.99 a month "L" plan gives you 144 x 5 minute calls, unlimited text and 2 gb data.
    THIS IS NOT A BARGAIN.

  • +1

Well, I moved to Telstra from Voda recently… I would have liked a free month then.. so I guess this constitutes a saving/bargain.

(Feel free to retrospectively credit my account MH!)

  • +1

I'd be way happier with the $34.00 Live Connected plan. If you BYO phone and live in an area with good Optus coverage then you'd be crazy to pass up the value for something like this.

  • +2

$50 byo??? Shouldn't you be giving a phone with these plans? Smh Telstra shareholder and no wonder share price stuck in neutral for past 10 years

  • +1

Just go on Encore prepaid. Way better value than plans.

  • I find it interesting that this deal ends the day that the iphone 5 is supposedly going to be announced… had to register just so I could post that!!

  • Can you offer the one month free access credit with new internet/phone bundles?
