Unsure if targetted but i have never verified my email and mobile number for telstra and got this offer in the telstra app.
YMMV

Steps:

  • Open My Telstra App
  • Click top right icon for your profile info
  • If eligible, you will see the offer

Also 5000 points to eligible accounta after adding a direct debt as per comments

      Dont verify if no offer visible as per thumbnail as you could get the offer later.

      Got this too but reluctant to do it given Telstra manage to overcharge for something pretty much every month.

      Can you disable it straight after activating?

        It says they’ll add the points to your account after one successful direct debit. So you could theoretically remove it after that?

      • use an account with just enough money for 1 month

        also can't you remove the direct debit bank info?

        • I don't think I can remove it after adding it. I don't know why but I just like paying bills as soon as they are issued.

            that sucks if you can't.
            don't want them to hold the bank detail etc forever.

    what does 2500 points getcha

    • 1/2 a Belong $80 starter pack, when they're next on special. 5000 points seems to be the going special rate now, with the 2000 point specials a distant memory. You can't get as much value out of the starter packs as you once could, either.

      Half of a headphone jack dongle for iPhone. The dongle has the DAC and amp built into it so it's kind of a modern marvel imo.

    Make sure you get a screen shot of the offer for updating contact details, direct debt etc. I forgot to and they never added the points to my account after accepting the offer.

    I had a similar offer for signing up for direct debit, never credited the points and wasn’t given them even after contacting support and providing screenshots.

    Had to email complaints.

    I got this offer in the Telstra app 3 months ago. Updated and verified my details, but never got 2500 points.

      Email complaints, they are pretty good. They reinstated my expired 10k telstra points

      • lucky you. I had similar issue and were told I "had" DD set up before so I cannot claim the bonus offer. Even I show them the screenshot.

    You have to chase Telstra for the points, had it two accounts and none of them got the points automatically after verifying those details.

          Most of us would have been members as we got bonus points for joining it.

      • I used mine on discounted Amazon gift cards the other week.
        Bit of a pain, but I did it $10 at a time. Best transfer rate way.

      Yep, cashed in my points for Amazon Prime subscription. It just tacked on to the end of my current Prime subscription.

        Me too. Also redeemed the rest points to the Amazon gift cards.

        That'd be a much better way to spend 24,000 points. Extra 12 months of Prime for what is effectively $48. Especially now that they're whacking their subscription fees up!

      • That's the store which is apparently different to the market. I don't even know what the market is.

  • I no longer have any Telstra services but I got the offer, let's see if the points come through, says can take up to 14 days.

    • If you don't have any current service with Telstra, you can't redeem the points.

      • Not sure thats entirely true, I dont have any direct service with them but have been able to claim Belong starter packs

      Points expire after three years, and are wiped after 12 months if you don't have an active service. How long since you've had one?

      • I only knew points expire after 3 years, didn’t realise it will be wiped without an active service for 12months as well.. I only thought you can’t redeem without an active service. This is terrible :(
