This might be a good printer, and may give good results, but for only $919 right now do yourself a favour and get the Bambu P1P which is proven to be hassle free.
Community results on the K1 is mixed.

Has Creality quality control gotten any better over the years?

If not, this will be a total crapshoot. The bricks and mortar store when I bought my Ender had 2 different sales people try talk me out of it, until I explained that I'm in tech and wanted to buy a printer to learn how they worked mechanically by troubleshooting and rebuilding, and that I didn't want a printer just to be able to print. After this explanation, they were perfectly happy for me to buy a Creality.

      Good on them

      • I forgot to mention, this store was literally fifty km or less away from Creality HQ, so they could get spare parts easily. I needed a major replacement part as soon as I set up the machine.

I would not buy a Creality in Australia at the end of a long logistics chain unless I was happy to be without a working printer for weeks or months.

With that budget I'd just get a Prusa instead

  • Had an Ender 3 Pro for about 3 years and as long as you take the time to set it up square and precisely initially and understand slicer settings and their effects, then you should have few issues. Mine has been almost bulletproof and no issues and produced great results with little or no maintenance needed. Just bed levelling once a month.

Of course these new machines are MUCH faster, which is the biggest upgrade. Prints on the older models are sloooowww.
