not the all time cheapest but a good price if looking to upgrade an AM4 system,
better price here now $464

I am worried they will stop production and that will be the end of it,
EPYC 7003 series processors means they'll be around for a while.
YES… they will keep making 5800X3D longer then any other AM4 CPU
@vid_ghost: I'm not convinced that's true, but it will certainly be in the mix.
if you had a 3090 or above to substantially benefit from this over the 5600/5700x, you probably weren't price sensitive and bought 1-2 years ago.
this makes no sense.
I don't think you're quite grasping the concept of price sensitivity in relation to oem PC parts vs say a house or a car. For many a small purchase such as a 3090 + 5600X would have made sense a few years ago when the CPU trade-off was marginal. And now rather than throwing away the mobo/ram completely, another upgrade to this + a 4090 might be worthwhile. This is a good deal for those who don't want to upgrade to AM5 just yet.
small purchase
3090
what
Are there people on a bargain hunting website who buy xx90 cards for gaming?
4080 at 4k is possibly ok
4090 is a bit of a stretch
don't forget the prices of the 3090 and 5600x back then. people who bought that combo couldn't care less about the added 5% overall cost to get a 5800x3d instead of the 5600x.
and now the 5700x is literally less than half the price of the 5800x3d. i don't know why you're talking about throwing away the AM5 mobo.
They are much cheaper in China.
but are you getting the real thing?
Honestly on Amazon you can’t be sure anymore that you’re getting the real thing
Still too expensive for an old gaming CPU.
The simple reason the price doesn't drop is because there is enough AMD users out there with AM4 motherboards that are purchasing this CPU as an upgrade path, considering gaming performance is still up there with current gen CPUs.
Yes I know. Am one of those and ended up upgrading to 5600.
Hmmm
This CPU is awesome for AM4 based gamers but it’s at a little bit of a limbo price point.
I recently upgraded my pc to AM5 after a solid 8 years on x99. I sold my 3080 to my little brother in law but he will eventually be bottlenecked by his Ryzen 3600. He wants to upgrade to this cpu but he has a shitty super budget B550m motherboard and budget ram.
I reckon it will eventually be worth it for him to upgrade to AM5 to allow future expansion.
I think at this price point the 5800x3d is only worth it for those on AM4 with mid range or higher mobo/ram configs.
i recently bought a 5700x for $260 which i thought was a much better deal compared to this. And it's only a 65W part to boot (which should be a factor if you're installing into a lower end board).
So ive finally completed the upgrade of all PC's in my house (they were all running 1700). One has a 5600x, one has a 5600g and ther last one has a 5700x.
Even at $300 the 5700x makes more sense.

Thanks mate, good advice.
I got tunnel vision on the 5800x3d and forgot about the other cpus.
Any specials on 7800x3d? I have collected almost every PC component ready to go for this build
To bad the 5600X3D has such a limited run, it would have been a big seller.

Waiting for it to be sub 400 to pull the trigger.
