Good price for those who have recently picked up a Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally or similar that takes M.2 2230 sized SSDs. This one can be had even cheaper if you stack with 15% cashback at TopCashback and use AliExpress Coins for an extra 2% off.

This works with other devices that only accept 2230 sized SSDs including Surface Pro 9, X, Surface Laptop 3, 4, Laptop Go and more. Since this is a Gen4 SSD you shouldn't use it with the Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro 7+ due to stability issues. Both of these have no issues with Gen3 SSDs.

This one offers a sequential read up to 5150 MB/s, sequential write up to 4850 MB/s and uses Toshiba BiCS5 112l or SanDisk TLC flash. Unfortunately 2230 sized SSDs don't have DRAM cache, but this one uses pSLC cache and HMB to make up for it so it's perfectly fine for gaming. Especially when a lot of other similar SSDs are QLC.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

Just in case anyone is concerned about this NVME, I got one in the last sale (from same seller). The postage was quick and it works perfectly well in the Steam Deck. The changeover literally took 10 minutes (not including backing up the old 512gb drive).

  • Is there any benefit to using this over the stock one in the steam deck (OLED)? From what I've read the stock SSD maxes out the pcie 3.0 bus, so the additional speed this one offers wouldn't be of any benefit?

      You get more storage.

      • D'oh! Of course.

      Size. It's 2tb.

  • Great deal. Out of curiosity - has anyone managed to repurpose the 64gb eMMC SSD from the steam deck?

Trying to find a use for mine
