  • Can you buy 3 pack and use each with different router? I only need one node for my house. Same as my brother and a friend.

    • Different router, as in, different brand router (not a TP-Link Deco?) The mesh routers will only talk to deco routers wirelessly: if you own a different brand you will need to hook up your Deco node to your main router with an ethernet cable.

If you already have an ASUS router for e.g you should continue to buy ASUS and use their own AiMesh protocol.

      • Thanks. I've got a Nokia router that came with Optus 5g plan. This one is no good for me then.

  • Is there a trick for identifying a modem/wifi combo? Something like a spec. I could eyeball? I find myself having to google anything that looks like one.

    • You can compare products at the TP-Link website for a quick rundown of the important stuff like bandwidth, speed and differences in features if that's what you're after.

      • Thats helpful. But these things dont clearly say "yes im a modem, no im a just a router/wifi unit.

        • Yeah. They have some modem/router products on their website but these (and the others in the comparison link) are all routers only. There's less demand for modems these days as most NBN connections already come with a separate modem.

          • @lint: The modem that comes with the contract works OK but if you need the wireless available in different locations AND a speedy connection one (depending on your contract), then you need a better solution.

  • Note that you may not setup your TP-Link mesh system from a computer so you're limited with the phone APP and you may only add TP-Link devices to the system.
Lesson learned, no more TP-Link for me.
