    Sony 65” good price.

    • +1

      Yeah damn very cheap

    • +2

You will need to buy an external device for the "smart" part of it. These processors with Google TV are so incredibly bad.

      • Goes well with all the fire tv sticks and fire cubes on sale from Amazon

        • +2

Yea I'll have to try one. I don't mind Google TV that much, but on the Sony it makes it unbearable. So slow and so buggy. Have to restart my TV constantly, which I've never had to do. Had the TV replaced once already, and it's still the same. And my parents Sony x85k is the same.

          • +2

@onlinepred: Same issue with mine. Everything is slow

          • @onlinepred: Depending on your use case, if it's just for streaming and some smart features, I would recommend the chromecast 4k with Google tv as it runs the most up to date version of Android (fire tv devices run android 9) and has google play services for better compatibility.

Out of the Amazon devices I would go for one of the fire tv 4k sticks. I bought the cube on this sale thinking I could connect the cube to my monitor and use the built in speaker as a speaker, but the built in speaker is only for Alexa which I don't use. I did try to sideload apps onto the fire tv cube since there are some streaming apps that are not native to the Amazon app store, but some of them still run into the issue of needing google play services to run.

My other streaming devices are a 2015 shield tv pro with a 500gb SSD upgrade and a 2019 shield tv pro and both of these run android and have no issues with streaming apps.

          • +1

@onlinepred: No they are not I have 2020 x900h and it’s super fast, before then they were slow.

      • +1

Have they gotten worse? I'm using a 6 year old android smart Sony and its fine. I even for laughs played a 30GB movie on stremio the other day and it actually did it.
I mostly use the AppleTV though.

        • +1

This is the "Google TV" versions. An example, I turned it off yesterday and it said it needed to update. Came back an hour later to watch something, and it was sitting there are "Updating", waiting a few minutes then rebooted it, then took about 30seconds to get to the updating screen, then went to "Updating", then 30 seconds later it rebooted, "then another 30 seconds to boot up. Finally got home screen, scrolled down to continue a show, and the app opened, then got stuck for more than a minute. Restarted the TV, 30 seconds later tried again, after clicking continue it took probably another 15-20 seconds for the app to open (Disney) and the show to start streaming. Mind you it then stuttered twice. So we gave up and went to the older LG WebOS tv which turned on in 1 second, pointed to the show and loaded up in 3 seconds and started streaming.

          • @onlinepred: what TV model do you have?

that sucks cos many TV brands are migrating their OS to google TV,
or Samsung using Tizen, and LG WebOS.

The main draw of Google OS was not needing to buy a chromecast with google TV + quicker app updates (from the original dev)
compared to relying on the TV Manufacture or dev to keep the app up to date on those other TV OS that is not Google TV)

            • @pinkybrain: Yep I know. The apps are worse on google TV than on web os too, they are seemingly slower, more bug prone, and constantly needing to be updated.

We have x75k and x90j. Both are just as bad. Someone’s in the evenings when nbn speed drops a little, the TVs just become a mess. Web OS on the same network is fine. I just don’t get it

              • +1

@onlinepred: I'm not sure what you consider bad but I have the 75X90J and it's been great! I hardly ever watch any FTA, it's all apps and high quality movies of an external HD and have had zero issues with the processor lagging or anything.

I quite like the Google TV thing

                • @educalifa: Perhaps it’s because I came from web os? I don’t know. It’s just so much worse on the Sony TVs than standalone google devices too.

                  • @onlinepred: I also got an LG with an old version of webOS
and it is not all fantastic either

The youtube app sucks and does not resume playback after it plays an ad..
then I need to restart the app and try again.

LG also does not allow the latest version of WebOS on this LG TV…
So I can't install tenplay app..

Thought the Google TV OS on the new TVs would be better since it has more chance of getting updates..

But maybe all these TV OS will eventually suck anyway.. due to lower specs on the TV,
or the manufacturer needs to ensure to keep the Google TV OS up to date rather than relying on Google like on the Chromecast with Google TV etc..

Even the chromecast with google TV 4k has issues with lag and only 8GB of storage..

                    • @pinkybrain: Yea it really blows my mind. My LG TV must be new enough as I got the tenplay app. Touch wood I've never had a single issue with the LG, I do pay for Youtube for family account for ultra cheap so friends and family don't get ads ;-)

                      • @onlinepred: Can you turn off premium and test how well the youtube will resume after an ad?
Just watch some long video or whatever with a few ads that will appear and see it will resume playback each time,.

Want to see if this is an issue with youtube server or the youtube app.
If you it resumes each time after ad for you, then I will know at it is likely to be the youtube app on my LG TV.

Do you know what version of WebOS you are right now?
Also what TV model is your one?

                        • @pinkybrain: LG C9, not sure what versions, although one profile in the family has bugged out, and google has been trying to fix it for months, they get ads while everyone else doesn't. So through their profile we watch ads on the TV through the Youtube app and it's not had any issues. Will see if I can get the version number for you later

                  • @onlinepred: My other TV is an LG as well, I prefer Google TV but then again I'm an Android user through and through so I guess I'm more at home on the Sony

                    • @educalifa: Yea I've been Google for over 11 years now, although use iPhone as my main phone but don't do anything apple for media except apple tv+. I've had some good recommendations through Google TV, but as a whole I just don't like the UI compared to my LG Web OS, it's just faster and more intuitive. Even my parents Apple TV is so smooth, fast and intuitive.

        • Yeah I am using X7000D which is around 6 years old and Android Tv still very much useable. I guess the "google tv" is more heavy on resources…

      • +1

We have the 65" Sony. Processor seems pretty good. Runs way faster than our Kogan TV. So much smoother.

        • +12

You're not allowed to use Kogan products for comparison.

That's like saying "This piece of A4 paper wasn't so bad for wiping my ass, I had a MUCH better experience than when I tried using sandpaper. So much smoother."

          • @Beyond: Eh runs as quick as any external smart device ive tried except maybe my apple tv

      • When setting these up you can select Google TV or “dumb TV”. The dumb option still has Netflix, YouTube etc without the Google part. I chose dumb as I was setting it up for an elderly relative but was pleased that you could still use a few native apps without googles bloat on the slow processor.

        • Oh really? I'll check if my one has that option.

          • @onlinepred: Yeah, I grabbed the 43” off the Sony ebay page box damaged for $545 recently, was pleased that the box wasn’t damaged and the UI had the option for “basic tv”. I just googled it, wasn’t called dumb, it was called basic. Good luck!

        • can you still do google casting or apple airplay with the dumb option?

also what TV model is this?

          • @pinkybrain: X75k same as this deal. Not 100% sure on the casting to the dumb option. At my relatives house so can’t double check.

      • Can get the Google TV chromecast for maybe 60 bucks and would still be great value overall.

        • +1

people have said Google TV chromecast can be laggy..

Googles needs to update the 4k model with better specs and more than 8GB storage

          • @pinkybrain: Yeah, I tried google TV chromecast and found it to take too long to load up apps. Kayo especially. And then even watching them at the same time, chromecast would always be about 3-4secs behind.

  • great price. if JB price match with 10% GF card. it is even better.

  • wonder if it can do 60Hz over HDMI or only 50Hz

    • +1

      50Hz

    • +1

Can human eye tell the difference?

      • My human eye can tell the difference between a 60Hz monitor and a 120Hz monitor, so it stands to reason a difference between 50Hz and 60Hz might also be noticeable.

        • I can tell between 60 and 120 just barely, I feel like there's no chance I could tell between 50 and 60. Although I can definitely tell the difference between 30 and 60. I couldn't play Uncharted 4 on PS4 as the 30Hz was giving me a headache, turned off the motion blur and it helped slightly.

        • 30 to 60hz you might be a able tell a difference especially if you do the UFO test or gaming..
It needs really fast moving image to tell the difference..
else it is not that easy if you just do web browsing or watching

50 to 60 hz is only 10hz difference and so close to each other..
I doubt it would be easy to tell the difference..

There's PAL 50hz and NTSC is 60 Hz
and when switching modes I doubt people could the difference.

60Hz to 120Hz is bigger difference..
and most likely only might be able to tell when actually gaming or UFO test
And that really depends on the individual person if they regularly game at 120hz to tell difference with 60hz…
else a someone not regularly use it might not be able to.

    https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x75k

The Sony Bravia X75K is a decent TV overall. It's best for watching shows or sports in a moderately-lit room, as it doesn't look very good in the dark due to its low contrast ratio and mediocre black uniformity. It has a wide viewing angle, making it a good choice for a wide seating area, as the image remains consistent from the sides. It's good for gaming thanks to its low input lag and decent response time

Great for price, for entry level tv,

    • +1

"good for gaming" but remember, no HDMI 2.1, no 120hz at 4k, and no VRR, means it's basically not meant to be used with latest consoles (Xbox Series X or PS5). can use it, but you're missing out a lot

    • +1

"Entry level" is all the vast majority will ever need.

      • +1

Disagree, this TV has pretty poor peak brightness which makes all HDR content look very dark and washed out. Better to spend a bit more and get something you actually enjoy looking at

        • yeah even the TCL looks better, if you willing to spend just a bit more…

saw some TCL TV (miniLED) in store and the black levels + color looks almost as good as OLED
I could hardly tell much difference..

might be easier if I could pause same video at same time to compared..
but what ever demo that was playing on both TVs
the colors and blacks looks really good and vibrant

  • Will sony store price match? If so amex bonus

    • +3

Just matched the 43" quickly, so yeah they will

    • +2

Taking an extra $100 from the Amex Deal makes it an absolute steal

    • +2

Price matched 65 inch tv with Sony and used Amex offer to bring it down to $696. Also $43 tracked on shopback.

      • Still waiting for my response from sony

        • +1

Try to get on live chat on the page. It took less than 5 minutes for me.

          • +3

@jakkas7: Legends! Price matched and purchased via Sony for free delivery to rural NSW!

  • Is this 120hz?

    • Only 60Hz for X75K.

      • +1

Thanks amazon says its 50 so I asked

    • +2

open the link and check with your 30hz eyeballs

      • +1

My eyeball can distinguish 120hz and 240hz

      • +2

Human eyes don't see at 30hz, we see continuously. 24fps is the minimum for what we perceive to be smooth, humans can theoretically see much higher fps. Most people can tell the difference between 30hz and 60hz and 120hz. Beyond that there will be a difference, it just depends on the human and if they can perceive/benefit from it.

Its like when people turn on frame interpolation on their TVs, they can tell its smoother, most just don't like it. But to not like it means they are capable of perceiving the difference.

  • 43" any good for use with PS5? What are alternatives considering can't get C2 anymore?

    • +1

I have the 43X85K, as it has HDMI 2.1 to run the PS5 at 120hz. I haven't seen any decent deals probably due to demand for HDMI 2.1.

JB Hi-Fi has it for $1010.10 (22% off with soundbar purchase), but if it's for PS5 gaming, I'd probably hold out (or bargain with JB/GG to drop further, as you can't justify twice the price!).

    • wait for C3 to drop in price or EOL when C4 is next model to be released

  • For those out of delivery areas, try Price Matching via Sony directly confirmed by deloid, using Amex Deal to make it $696!

I can get it delivered 1 suburb away… but I can't get it delivered to me. I don't get it. Also… how do you price match directly with Sony? Do I have to email them, and is delivery separate?

    • Go to Sony Price Matching, read the terms & conditions then click on the chat button on the bottom right-hand corner.

      • Legend! Thanks!

  • +1

Seems to be nothing good for 75", is it because it's too big to deliver

    • Yeah I want 75" but just bought the 65" as I can't justify the big jump in price.

  • +1

Able to price match with jbhifi, but they cant provide free delivery.

Sony looks better option and with amex deal its best.

  • "This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location by this seller. Please choose a different delivery location or seller."

    • Yeah! It can be delivered to my family 1 suburb away. So weird.

  • Oh shit I bought the 55" yesterday for 895. It's already marked as shipped. Is there any way I can change?

    • Buy this one now and send the other one back when it arrives.

      • Is that allowed? Do they send somebody out to pick it up?

        • Yes, just don't open the box though.

        • I'm not sure about the store you bought the TV from though, some stores use courier that pick them up when returning but some don't.

  • +2

note that this TV isn't good for gaming.

no HDMI 2.1, no VRR, no 120hz at 4k.

65" Samsung Frame TV's have been $900 with loyalty discount and they are a much better fit if you ever plan to use the TV with a console

    • Do you mean the loyalty discount with Amazon or somewhere else? Do you mind if you can share some lights on this? We are after a Samsung one 55".

    • 65" Samsung Frames seem to bottom out around $1200, not $900. Is there something I'm missing?

      • there was a lot of Samsung sales around November - December - Jan, that's when a lot of awesome models were going even better than half price. loyalty discount was crazy additional 30% off on frames and Qled Neo models.

I hope they run another one this year too (not that I need anything now, but seems like a lot of people missed out)

there was a lot of complaints about shipping - a lot of people waited couple months to receive theirs. I was fine tho

  • If you do buy this TV, I highly recommend pairing it with this (Fire Stick 4K Max, currently on a big discount): https://www.amazon.com.au/Fire-TV-Stick-4K-Max-with-Alexa-Vo…

This is an entry level TV, but paired with a Fire Stick 4K Max for an extra $48, it will be a very competent unit.

  • Oos Amazon

  • +2

Thanks OP. Got a 65" price matched from Sony Direct delivered to WA.

I was lucky as I was in the queue on the chat waiting when it went OoS on Amazon. They honoured it because I was in the queue before it was OoS. Lucky.

  • Will this good for Work PC monitor ?

    • +1

It might be a little big.

    • should be similar to the C2 that people buy for gaming pc..

work pc only, probably better to get a regular smaller monitor…

this is a TV, so will not have benefits of a monitor when connected to the PC

  • What's a better 43" TV for the same money?

Hate spending this much on a small TV but price is the price.

Unfortunately this is the size I need for something to fit in between 2 doorways.

Doesn't seem to be much around these price levels

  • Anyone know if it has eArc and can passthrough surround sound via HDMI?

  • how to get sony price match with 65''?

    • sony will not price match now as amazon oos

  • +1

I have jbhifi price match link and decided not to buy. I can share via pm if anyone interested

    • Hi!! do you still have the link! would love to get this

    • Will take if still available :)

      • JB hi fi discounted link avail valid for next one hour , plse PM

    • Sorry, its taken by one of oz member.

  • 55" $719 now, and can price match via sony store,
worse than 65" deal, but better than nothing.
