    Shuckable for NAS?

    • +1

      Yes, absolutely. Piece of cake.

  • Argh I need the 18tb model for a good price to shuck!

    • i've been offered a 18tb new in box off marketplace for $250, no receipts though. May take the risk

  • How are these shipped? I know Amazon US are horrendous with their packaging

    • +5

Elements are fine. They are in a case and come in their boxes with their own packing.
It's the bare drives that have terrible packaging, i.e. none.

Bit disappointed with Amazon that this is the best price that they can do. I bought a couple of 14TB ones over different occasions a few years ago and paid much closer to 300ea. We did have to call up and get an Australian cable ordered though, however, the AU plug arrived within the week both times.

I have several of these. They are shipped from Amazon AU and are the Australian version.

  • Price matched with office works! Thanks OP

    • How? Just got rejected by the “manager” At Hunter St (CBD) officeworks saying they don’t match Amazon exclusive deals :(

  • +1

Not quite as good as the ~$380 for 18tb units last year.

That price came on later during Prime Day, so there may be better deals to come.

  • Anyone managed to buy this?
Gives me the error in checkout "Sorry, this item can't be delivered to your selected address." (set to my default address)
    Doesn't appear to be OoS

    • Seems like this item will simply not post to certain addresses, possibly those outside greater metro areas. No problem with other WD hard drives.

Not sure if anyone receive theirs' yet but I received mine today and the seller appears to be a scammer.
The WD was removed and replaced with 2 packet of rocks. The box itself was sealed, looks like a professional job.

    • For real? That's crazy.

I'm not trying to give the seller a free pass here, but it could be equally likely they they themselves were scammed in bulk-buying drives that were intercepted by criminals on their way. I've had this happen in a professional sense, albeit not hard drives, but entire container loads that turned up as bags of rice and dirt.

Given how the seller is Amazon AU, I highly doubt it is the seller who is trying to scam you.

I reckon someone bought it, removed the hdd and padded it with rocks and reshrink wrapped it. They then returned it to Amazon who put it back on the shelf.

    • These Units are coming from WD Australia. Suggest you contact Amazon as someone has switched your parcel or you are not buying from this link.

      • FYI - I purchased direct from Amazon through the link.
To Amazon's credit, they are resending me the item with little fuss.

I would recommend everyone to video record when opening the package.

  • What drive is inside WD Red?
