My tool chest says thanks. My wife says you can get stuffed.

  • Good sizes, good prices.

Knipex and Wera are fast approaching eneloop status.

    • Exactly!
I have more eneloops than I need. Getting close with both Knipex and Wera!

Comfort grip 180mm wrench pliers for $60 is a great deal, don't think I've seen them this cheap. I barely use traditional multi-grips anymore because of these.

Would you say I probably don't need the OP post if I got the plier wrench you linked? Looking to put together a minimal item, high-quality tool set.

      • +6

Multigrips like the OPs still have their place and point of difference. I work in an industrial trade though and try to carry a minimal amount of tools that cover most things and where you want to ensure to maintain the integrity of the fasteners or nuts you are working on, aka, you don't want to round or strip things. The straight jaw pliers are much better for this.

Multigrips will get onto anything in tighter spaces, so in that sense they are more versatile but they're more likely to do damage in the process. They are more suited to plumbing jobs overall, so depends what sort've things you are working on.

OPs set is probably better for starting out at home, my linked ones are a bit of a luxury item.

Don't need to tell me twice to get both!

        • -1

Depends on the plumbing job. You wouldn’t use the OP ones for basin or bath tapware as it would damage them

          • @MuddyClear: Yeah man, I reckon I made that pretty clear in my post. Simply just pointed out that in general, multigrips are more suited to plumbing works aka PVC fittings and the like.

I reckon I made that pretty clear in my post.

    • Got one of these, thanks mate!

The 150 cheaper in this link for some reason. I've been looking for some parallel jaw pliers for ages, good stuff.

  • What items can you fix with this tool?

    • No disrespect, but if you have to ask that then these tools are not for you.

These are good for plumbing work or where you have to grip a pipe or some other object that fit in their jaws.

      They are truly excellent tools.

        Thanks for answer.

Yeah I am aware it's not for me.

But always want to learn something new.

Like I can fix my bike now.

        Your answer is enough. Ty

  • This set of 2 pliers are good, because it has the 25cm and the 18cm pliers.

I wish I got this 2 plier set, and not the 25cm ones, from the deal a month ago,
as I could benefit from the smaller pliers too.

  • Love my Knipex plier wrench which is a unique product but struggling to see benefits of these over say Irwin water pump type pliers?
    eg https://www.amazon.com.au/IRWIN-VISE-GRIP-GrooveLock-Pliers-…?

I've got a pair of these from an Ozb deal way back when masters were still keeping bunnies honest.

Made in Germany vs made in China

    • I think Irwin is not bad. I guess it is probably not worth buying this one if you have Irwin

    • youtube them. you will see the difference, knipex is one of the best brands. irwin welllllll

    • +1

I like how no one has said how they are better when responding to you, just that 'they are better'.

      • Irwin are OK, lots of tradies use them, i'ts not as if they are craftright or workzone. I'll pass on these knipex as my irwins will do the same job as these but if I was in the market for a new pair then yeah I'd pick these over Irwin for sure.

        • Yeah I hear you. I tend to think fancy brands > kinchrome > Irwin > trojan > craftright or something like that

          • @gakko: irwin isnt fancy anymore, they used to be when they first brought out the original peterson vice grip company( have 2 original 1960s ones). but of course they moved production from the usa to china and changed the product to be cheaper

    • Zero benefit if you already have the Irwin set. Irwins will end up failing on you at the adjustment point, but depending on how frequently you use them that may not be for 10+ years.
If you are weighing up the two as a first time purchase, the Knipex set are definitely worth the extra $8-9 for build quality, but otherwise yes, they'll do virtually the same exact same thing.

Thanks, I have a water pump so I must need these.

  • It is showing $77.22 now.
