Question Answer
1. Is Boost operated by Telstra network? Yes, on the full Telstra network
2. Does Boost support 5G? Yes, for all Boost prepaid customers and it is currently on trial until 3 April 2023
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on your service and we’ll be introducing capped download speed caps on our 4G and 5G networks
3. Does Boost support e-SIM? Sadly not at this stage. However there are plans to do so
4. Do you have to activate the SIM within 30 days? Every Cashrewards Boost cashback up to and including April 30 has been approved (confirmed by TA) - provided you activated within 30 days of order
5. How long is the SIM expiry? Usually 1 year, but to qualify for cashback the SIM must be activated within 30 days of ordering
6. It is showing “new customer” on Boost website. What does this mean? New customer term is only for the additional Boost data, and nothing to do with the cashback offer
7. Can I receive international text message (aka int. roaming) with this SIM by default? Yes, you can receive SMS while overseas, but can’t send outgoing to Australia
8. How long does it take to receive the SIM? According to the Boost Rep: Once dispatched, you should receive your order within the following business days: Metro Areas – 2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane (order before 4pm). Non Metro or Regional / remote areas – 3-7 business days
9. Is porting in a Telstra number to Boost considered a "new customer"? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Porting a number from Telstra to Boost is definitely considered a new customer
10. Are you able to purchase multiple plans using different names / ID (or can I purchase 4 x plans for the family using my own details)? From Boost Mobile rep via dm: Received clarification from the team and this is a tricky one since for compliance the terms is showing the customer is only allowed 1 sim per transaction but he can buy multiple SIMs and then activate them all under his name and he will then be able to manage all the numbers when he logs into the App with his Boost ID.
11. Information on what to do when the "please try again later" message comes up List of indicators that can affect how your order is flagged in different financial systems, which can hopefully help you understand what is going wrong
12. Can this be used to recharge? No, this is a starter pack. Using as a "recharge" is being dis-allowed and activating first and moving the number may be allowed but is frowned upon and may not be allowed in future depending on how you ask for it.

Enjoy!

Dame it cashrewards increased again from the $25 i purchased Sunday now $30 good way to annoy your reward customers.

    • Saving money annoys you?! Cashrewards must really be pissing you off big time

      • No they increased the cash rate each day after I purchased.

        • +1

You still saved money. Quite a lot. You win some, by a lot… and you win others by even more

    • +1

Pretty sure that only matters for how much data you get, no? Once you’ve paid, you’ve paid?

      • Thanks, good point, didn't realise, though may impact those aligning with end of other plans. Site says "From 4 July 2023 most of our activation and recharge prices are increasing and some inclusions changing. If you buy a SIM today, you’ll get the current data and inclusions upon activation, even if you activate after 4 July 2023. However, if you recharge after 4 July, your options will change."

    • I've always received within 2-3 working days via AP Domestic Letter with Tracking.

      • I just gave you evidence that doesn't always happen. :) AP is a lottery at the best of times. I've had 1.5 weeks MEL>MEL and I'm in a suburb, nothing special.

      • 7 days to Perth.

  • If i was with boost in the past (not currently), am i still eligible?

    • A new name, and suite of identity documents, should do it. And they said that whistleblowing wouldn’t pay off!?

    • +2

I literally ported out to Aldi yesterday and ported back in 2 hours later, got the extra 20GB 'new customer bonus' on the $300 sim. I've done it 3 times before with the same ID and never had an issue

      • sweet thanks for testing

      • What did you port to aldi? Like to a sim
Plan or just a starter sim?

        • +1

just the $5 payg one, a lot of starter sims require u buying additional recharges before the sim is activated, but aldis starter comes with $5 of credit and u can buy it on the self checkout so pretty ez

          • +1

@destiper: Ok perfect timing, my current boost plan ends 30th July so does my plan sound ok?

Order boost sim by 30th June via CB
Buy $5 payg sim from Aldi
Port from boost to Aldi on 29th July
Wait till port completed to Aldi
Port from Aldi to boost and activate sim so that’s within 30 days activation so can get cash back via CB

and looks like you can use sameID (i just use my email address) so should be all good

So annoying having to do all this, why can’t they give existing customers some bonus with data or whatever so it entices people to stay and not churn to another provider ..

  • FAQ Reference point 7: I couldnt and didnt receive sms to boost number while in europe recently

  • good price

  • Is this the cheapest at $205 for 260GB? Planning to activate on 30th July or whichever is 30 days from activation

  • +2

Any good cashback deals on the 28 day sim coming up?

  • good deal

  • If I'd lilke to port my number, can I port it next month (within 30 days) and not immediately when buying the SIM?

    • +1

      Should be fine

  • So porting out of Boost and then back in will work if i am still using the same email/name I had previously?

    • confirmed, I did it yesterday. My previous boost service for the same number hadn't even disappeared from the app when I ported back in lol

      • @destiper i havent done a phone port in a while. Is it all online now? Or do you still have to call to keep your same number etc?

        • all online in my experience, at least for porting from prepaid to prepaid with most providers. never had to call

          • @destiper: fantastic! thank you

            • @bahgoogen: @destiper Do you get an invoice / receipt for the recharge in your account once you've activated it? (under your recharge history in the your app/account?)

              • @bahgoogen: yeah you get receipts/invoices under 'recharge history' in the app, but not until 48hours after the recharge expires - so you won't receive an invoice for a 365 plan until July next year

  • What happens if you don't recharge by July 3rd? Can you still get 12 months with lower data?

  • Sitting here in Gaythorne QLD 4051, iPhone XS Max.
2 friggin bars. I’m like 7kms from the city.
Anyone else have the same problem with boost?
Last year I had Kogan and full bars.
Might switch and not do Boost again.
Had Telstra the year before that and had the same issue.

    • Boost uses the full Telstra network

    • Bars do not represent speed, How fast is the connection?

      • +1

Just did a test on speedtest.com and I’m getting 60/10.
I get dropouts all the time. FaceTime freezes up more often then not

    • Sounds like vodafone network is better for your area. would suggest going back to kogan or trying voda, felix or lebara instead

  • Dammit I bought it yesterday, on the $40 cashback

    • +1

Lucky you didn’t buy it today, because tomorrow it will probably be $50 cashback

      • +1

        Don't say that! :..(

    • Me too :(

  • What happens if my current vodafone plan doesn't expire until 27/7, and I activate this on 28/7?

    • -1

Until 27/7 you’re with Vodafone, and from 28/7 onwards you’ll be cooking with Boost Mobile

      • +1

But he won’t be able to do the CB special coz you need to buy by end of this month and activate within 30 days

        • Missed it by 24 hours?! So close!

        • But 28/7 is within 30 days.

What I'm more concerned about is this comment above:

Until 27/7 you’re with Vodafone, and from 28/7 onwards you’ll be cooking with Boost Mobile

Is this how it really works? Or is it only if you put effort in syncing the two plans, ie. start one just after the old one ends?

My experience is that the current plan is cut short (and you may get a refund for the remaining time in the old plan, eg. if it was month-by-month, you may get that month partially refunded by the old provider) and the new plan kicks off right away.

          • +1

@pizzaguy: Oh yes apologies, my bad you are correct I don’t know what I was thinking lol

If I was that guy I’d initiate the port on 27/7 because nowadays porting is pretty quick only couple of hours? Do it in the morning and activate boost sim. Unless the voda is a prepaid plan so you could wait till 28/7 to activate it. Not like the number will be relisted and should be able to port.

  • Confirming Boost is super slow to send the items.

Mine hasn't shipped and it's been over 24 hrs. And AFTER they send it, it's "2-5 business days for capital cities – Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart & Brisbane". I contacted them to ensure I did everything alright, because there's no communication, and they confirmed that all is good.

If you don't activate the sim before 4/7 (so on the next Monday the latest), there's going to be 130GB instead of 140GB with the $200 sim and 240GB instead of 260GB with the $300 sim, from what I understood in the chat.

In the email from the good old "no-reply" they mention COVID slowing them down.

What have I got myself into…

    • On their website: "From 4 July 2023 most of our activation and recharge prices are increasing and some inclusions changing. If you buy a SIM today, you’ll get the current data and inclusions upon activation, even if you activate after 4 July 2023. However, if you recharge after 4 July, your options will change.". But yeah bad move for them to use regular Australia Post. I'm at 1.5 weeks waiting now. AP are so inconsistent. I also didn't get a dispatch email.

      • Thanks. I see the chat on FB (because this is how you can reach them…) and one person said about my $200 sim:

The SIM kit will still be valid, but the bonus 10 GB of data wouldn't be included on the initial set-up, just the 130 GB.

but I guess that might be not correct. Or their website isn't. Hard to say, they seem not quite predictible.

Another person on that chat pointed me to https://startrack.com.au/ to track my order (which wasn't mention anywhere before) and it seems that 1.5 days after I ordered it, it hasn't been shipped.

So yeah, I'm renewing with the current provider for another month.

    • I live in Cairns. I ordered my SIM on Wednesday and received it yesterday (Thursday), so only took a day. Super impressed. Yeah, I didn't get any email of shipping or tracking number though.

      • Perhaps they're shipping it from Cairns them…

The tracking doesn't seem to work. Generally pretty bad impression so far.

I already paid for another month at Amaysim.

    • Anyone else ordered this week and received their order?

  • Last year, i was able to message boost online to activate 12 month sim without porting out (i was already with boost on a previous 12 month sim). Is this still the case?

    • I just did it but – chat sent me to the phone number, and the dude on the phone was not happy haha. He told me no initially, then I told him that chat said they could do it via phone, so he checked to see if I'd done it before and said "can you not read, you have bought a sim instead of a recharge before?". He did it this time but said he put notes on the account to never do it again hahahaha

  • My Boost plan runs out in 2-weeks. When I order a new one do I need to change my details I provide (e.g. email address & mobile number)? Obv need to port out/back in prior to activation. Thanks.

  • It is asking for details like licence number etc is it for activation straight away or I can activate it later after receiving the Sim
    ??

    • It asks only for your ID/document type when ordering online.

  • SORRY, SOMETHING WENT WRONG

We’re sorry but we’re experiencing technical issues. Please try again later

Can't purchase for my wife and I can't activate my Sim purchased 10 days ago.
Tried for the last two nights now, cleaned cookies etc but refuses to do it.

  • +1

Solved by using different browser *shrugs

    • I tried a few times, kept getting the same error. No boost for me!

  • cashrewards failed to track and their online claim doesn't work. So much pain in the ss.

  • Been almost 4 business days since I ordered, no tracking, just the initial confirmation email. Is this normal?

    • +1

Sadly, yes. Dispatch notification seems to be broken. Ping them for tracking number.

  • I got the postage tracking (I have received the sim) but no purchase confirmation from boost, so i have no order number and support cant find my purchase without it. Tomorrow i will report a purchase not tracking on cashrewards, but i dont think they can help me either without an order number, wtf am i supposed to do.
