Welcome to the ultimate guide of Xbox Game Pass subscriptions!

IMPORTANT UPDATE 26 JULY 2023:

OlduBil: "Transfers from foreign bank accounts to our bank accounts in Turkey are not possible".

  • OlduBil is no longer accepting deposits/transfers from foreign bank accounts. Please DO NOT make any transfers into OlduBil (i.e. your Türkiye Mastercard) until further notice!

  • If you already have the funds in OlduBil from a previous transfer, you are free to use it for anything. For those wanting to top up your Türkiye Mastercard, please DO NOT initiate any transfers into OlduBil from Wise or Revolut until I have a new update

  • This deal is expired and is effectively over at this point in time. Every transfer done is at your own risk!

18/07/23: OlduBil has increased their top-up fees to 9.3% (up from 6.25%) stating "Dear customer, our global operations cost increased due to high inflation rate in Turkish Lira. In order to continue the service we provide you we had to change our top-up commission to 9,3%. We appreciate your understanding and support."

Updates:

  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Turkish Lira have crashed even more, so I've corrected all prices in this guide!
  • 26/06/23 11:40pm - Fixed the incorrect plan total amount, thanks to @6wolfy9
  • 27/06/23 1:30pm - Due to the sudden and large number of transfers from you guys, Wise is now giving a transfer date of 3rd July. Please avoid Wise if you can and go the Revolut route. I can confirm Revolut transfers are much faster within minutes (or hours at the latest). For those who have already initiated a transfer via Wise, feel free to cancel the transfer (or let it send anyway in case you want to buy cheap Turkey products and services or sign up to other cheap Turkey subs) and go to Revolut.
  • 28/06/23 1:00pm - Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer. - thanks to @netsurfer
  • 03/07/23 2:00am - Edited method, I'm so sorry for making all of you pay for an extra month for no reason for the 36 months plan. Please forgive me.
  • 04/07/23 6:30pm - Microsoft must have caught on, and are blocking OlduBil Virtual cards due to security issues (good fraud prevention). This is an easy fix, and THIS DEAL IS STILL WELL AND ALIVE! Here's what you need to do:
    • Log on microsoft, then go to Contact Us. Click "Contact us" to bring up the 'Contact us' window. For the first dropdown field "What are you having trouble with", select "Subscriptions and Billing". For the second dropdown field "What's the issue", select "I need help purchasing content". For the third field "Describe your issue", man up and say something. Click "Next" > "See contact options" > "Chat online" then you'll be connected with an agent instantly. Tell them you are not able to add your credit card and ask if there's a problem on your MS account. If they ask ridiculous questions, pretend it's all working fine and start a new chat.

Credits to @Scrooge McDeal, who suggested I make a guide on this awesome ALL TIME LOW deal! And you probably know me by now - if I make a guide, best believe it's gonna be good (let me know if someone else can do it better pls). Like Netflix and Disney Plus and literally every guide I've made, I spent a chunk of money out of generosity to test the current validity of this method (I tested transfers from Wise into OlduBil) as well as annotating screenshots throughout the sign-up process (see screenshots in the instructions section). From this testing, I believe this opens a new doorway to a variety of insane deals and prices we weren't able to previously obtain. Please show some love and any comments, concerns, suggestions or feedback are welcome :)

Modern problems require modern solutions. Like Youtube, Netflix, Discord, Google One, Microsoft 365, relocating (virtually of course) to Turkey is usually the best option, with some methods saving hundreds or thousands of dollars each year added up.

The processes below are very easy, just take it slow and you'll get there! Just remember you'll be saving hundreds at the end of the day. The 14 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺374,94 TL ($21.64 AUD, or $1.55/mth) and the 36 month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate plan will cost ₺1034,72 TL ($59.68 AUD, or $1.66/mth). Note that despite the long term 36 month plan has a higher $/mth, it works out cheaper because if you signed up to 14 months, you'll be paying almost 3 times higher if you want to extend at the end of the 14th month.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • No VPN required
  • You must have no current subscriptions

Part 2a - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Wise (App or Web)

Wise fee: ~A$2.13, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Log in or create an account on Wise. You can use the Wise website, or the Wise app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android).

  2. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Wise account via PayID (instant, no fee), POLi (instant, $1.18 AUD fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (business days only, no fee).

  3. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, click onto "Australian Dollar", then "Convert", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "continue" then "convert". Wise charges a 1.07% fee for AUD-TRY conversions.

  4. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, click onto "Turkish Lira", then "Send", then select "Same currency". Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Wise charges a ₺24.34 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). Click "continue", then "New contact", then "Someone else". On this page, leave the "their email" box empty, and tick "I know their bank details". For the "Full name of the account holder" field, type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and for the "IBAN" field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. Continue and in the "Review transfer details" section (see screenshot), double check everything is correct and then for the "Reference for TURK" field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Tick the confirmation box and then "Confirm and send". This transfer will only be initiated during normal Turkey business hours and takes around 10 minutes on Wise's end. My transfer took 2 hours to land into my OlduBil account.

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

Part 2b - Topping up your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard with Revolut (App only)

Revolut fee: ~A$1.79, OlduBil fee: 6.25% of transfer (~A$4.35 for a ₺1200 TL transfer)

Update: 28/06/23 1:00pm - **Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer.

  1. Download the Revolut app on the App Store (iOS) or Play Store (Android) if you don't already have it installed.

  2. Open the app and log in or create an account (if you don't have it already).

  3. Top up Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account (at least $30 AUD for the 14 month plan, $75 for the 36 month plan but no more than $160 because OlduBil allows a maximum deposit of ₺2750,00 TL ≈ A$160 per month). You can add Australian Dollars (AUD) into your Revolut account via a debit/credit card (instant, no fee), Apple Pay (instant, no fee), Google Pay (instant, no fee) or Manual Bank Transfer (usually instant, no fee).

  4. Convert your Australian Dollars (AUD) to Turkish Lira (TRY). This conversion should be instant. To do this, select "Australian Dollar", then "Exchange", then select AUD → TRY and type in the amount you wish to convert and press "Review order" then "Sell AUD for TRY". Revolut charges no fee for currency conversions.

  5. Send your newly converted Turkish Lira to your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard. To do this, go to the buttom tabs of the app and click onto "Transfer", then "+ New" (top right corner), then select "Send International". Scroll down and select "Türkiye" as the destination. Enter the amount of Turkish Lira you wish to transfer (Note: Revolut charges a ₺30.15 TL flat fee for a single transfer, so this fee will be added onto the amount you enter). For the transer method, select "Bank Account" (this is probably default anyway). For the Reference field, you must type in your OlduBil Virtual Turkish Mastercard number (without spaces). Click "Continue", then on the "Who to pay" page, tap "+ New" (top right corner). Select the "Business" tab. For the IBAN field, type in the IBAN you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the BIC/SWIFT field, type in the BIC code you wrote down in Part 1 Step 3 ~~. For the "Company name", type in "TURK ELEKTRONIK PARA A.S." and ignore the email field. Press "Add the recipient" then on the following page, enter the VakıfBank address (the one from Part 1 Step 3) and review the transfer and estimated arrival, then send it off to Turkey :))

HELP POINT using VakıfBank: TBC but very similar to Aktifbank (just different bank information) see above screenshots for process

Note: Make sure you only transfer the amount you actually need to pay for your subscription (add a few dollars extra in case due to currency fluctuations) because due to regulations, OlduBil does not allow withdrawals unless you originally signed up with a Turkey phone number.

    Thank you ISP!

Managed to snag the full 36 months, had to cancel the WISE payment and do one through Revolut instead, funds arrived yesterday. Microsoft cancelled my existing GPU subscription in 2 minutes over the phone this morning, smooth sailing from there by following the guide!

  • My transfer from Revolut keeps getting declined.. I swear I've followed the instructions exactly. I'm transferring every spare Lira cent (after deducted transfer fee). Anyone having this issue?

    • I just got the same thing but after looking at the screenshots I realised I was transferring to Individual not Business. After changing it worked fine.
      Maybe check that?

    • You did choose transfer to "Business" right? Basically, the transfer needs to go to a bank (business) and the reference number allows the bank to then transfer the money to your account over there.

Do bear in mind that we "think" due to public holiday in Turkey, even if you get the transfer through, there could be days of delay. But, since you already transferred your AUD to TRY, there is probably no point delaying the transfer.

  • +1

Hey, probably a stupid question; why can't you directly deposit into the OlduBil App via Credit / Debit Card (first option)? Are they not allowing any foreign cards?

    • Probably not least because it'd be treated as a cash advance?

    • I was wondering the same thing.

    • +4

i tried this via Revolut debit card/other credit card, but OlduBil failed with some error 10312 and google translate unable to fund the card. So i think only working method is what OP suggested

  • +3

Thanks OP! Sharing a portion of my experience in case it helps anybody still thinking about this:

    • Cancelled my existing GPU sub due in October by requesting a callback, and telling them that I want to top up another full 3 years before the price rise. No problems whatsoever, was promptly cancelled and my $1 upgrade fee (from 3 years ago!) refunded.
    • I exchanged TL1200 in Revolut as suggested but then in true tight-ass OzBargain style I only transferred TL1065 to OlduBil thinking I could save a few bucks. Forgot about the OlduBil fee, coming up short by ~TL35 and couldn't get the final Game Pass Ultimate step. Thankfully, the remaining TL135 I had remaining in Revolut was enough to cover the remainder AND the fees - the transfer only took ~15 mins around 6pm. All up cost me $68. Would've been closer to OP's had I not been a dumb dumb.
    • I did this on my existing primary account, which also has a Microsoft 365 sub. No issues with region, etc. whatsoever. All my games/game saves carried over fine.
    • Thanks, so just to recap, if I only have a Microsoft Xbox account and Australian profile, not subscribed to Game Pass or Gold Live, I can use this Turkey method with my existing Australian profile to purchase the Turkish Game Pas and Gold Live?

      • +3

Yes, that's correct. My MS Account is set to Australian region and remained so throughout this whole process.

        • Thanks so much for sharing this process!! Could I please know how you got MS to give you a callback?

    • No worries, enjoy :)
Also thanks for the experience recall

  • +1

Thanks @I Smell Pennies very much!! Just successfully subscribed to 36 months of GPU - woohoo!!

    • Did you do the revolut -> oldubil transfer today?

      • Nope, did that yesterday. Took just under 2 hours for the transfer from Revolut to Oldubil - see my posts on page 4 or 5.

    • Thanks for your support :)

  • +1

Worked a treat. Thanks for the guide!

For others reference I started the transfer via Revolut last night (27th) around 5pm and had the funds in Oldibul by 7pm and the 36month sub completed a half hour later.

    • that's bloody weird I also did my transfer via revolut yesteday following all the steps and till now nothing has reached Oldibul even though revolut shows that the transfer has been completed

    • Thanks for your support :)

  • What's the deal with the weird combo of subs you have to buy? Any reason you can't just buy 3x 12 month subs?

    • Xbox Live Gold is the only one available in 3-month blocks. And the rest I think because it's only available as 1 month (with auto-renew). Then, you can only bank a max of 12 months, but that particular combo allows you to accumulate 36 months in total worth of stuff and convert the whole lot into one single stream of GPU.

      • Right ok fair enough. I normally do it via the Brazil method on a keysite which allows 12 month subs to be bought.

    • +1

@stumbows If you read the instructions you’ll understand why that’s not possible

Microsoft only allows a maximum of 13 months Xbox Live Gold at any one time.

      • Oh right! It's sort of confusing because you can buy 12 month codes from Turkey and apply them using VPN and it stacks to 36 months obviously. I did this last week for my son using that method but this method is even cheaper so going to give it a go.

  • +1

Great and detailed information. Thanks OP. I used revolut and directly sent (instead of covert to TRY first) as Revolut auto converted same rate anyway.

I use mainly for icloud storage and used to buy apple turkey gift card to topup my itune account, this method will be lot easier if it works (and hoping so). I could wait weeks as my next itune payment is middle of July. (I also used similar method for netflix turkey but netflix accepted australian card after few months somehow)

  • +1

Just did my TF with Wise and now waiting for the process to take place. Still saying pay out is on the 3rd of July. Fingers crossed all goes well. Thanks for the awesome instructions.

  • Will have a look at this next week after the public holidays. Since I have neither is there a preference for Wise or Revolut? Pros or cons?

    • +2

Go with Revolut is my 2 cents. From the posts, there is a high percentage of the transfer going through on the same day, usually within 2 hours. Did mine yesterday, think it was just under 2 hours. Note as previous posts, 4pm AEST is 9am in Turkey so don't expect the funds until after 4pm.

Revolut seems to do fund transfers faster, but you need to complete ID verification and that requires uploading an ID document and passes verification.

Wise doesn't require uploading ID document, fee is a bit higher. The ability to use a Web browser on a PC and Mac could be less error prone. Also, less information to fill in during transfer and no need to make sure choosing transfer to a "Business". Transfers seem to take longer, but unclear if without the holidays, how much longer it would take.

      • it asks me to upload ID on wise
how can I get around it?

        • I only completed email verification for Wise and I used PayID to transfer to Wise. It didn't enforce me to complete an ID check for the transfer to OlduBil. Wise app still reminds me to complete ID check. For Revolut, not completing the ID check doesn't let me initiate the transfer to OlduBil.

    Just completed this!

I used Revolut yesterday to transfer the money, and I've just ran through all the Microsoft steps and have 36 months! Awesome!

  • will it work if i go through with all the steps starting now?

    • It will, but with the public holiday + Sunday in Turkey till next Monday, you need to decide whether you want to do it now or later (Turkey currency could get weaker so you could get more for the same amount of AUD).

    • Yes you have till July 6 to lock in these prices.

  • Does anyone know if it works with HSBC global account to transfer money?

  • Hey just wondering if anyone can confirm this for me.
As ISP stated, there is a monthly deposit limit on OlduBil of 160AUD. With the public holiday running from now until next week, if I did a transfer before the end of this month would it be counted as a June transfer or a July transfer, considering the fact that it would only be completed in July and not June when I sent the funds through?

Meaning that if possible, I could do 160AUD right now and another later sometime next month.

    • My guess is it would count towards July because money will hit your Oldubil account in July only.

  • I saw an add on the oldubil app for game pass and gold codes. Anyone know if theyre worthwhile?

  • It says no current subscriptions, does that include MS 365 sub?

    • Worked for me with a current MS365 sub on my Australian based MS account.

    • I meant no current Game Pass subscriptions :)

Awesome, thanks. I'm gonna do this over the weekend. Thanks for the help

Should I be worried? I transferred funds last night. It left Revolut at 8pm SA time and was confirmed as received at 8:15 SA time. I used all the instructions in the post, including the bank details and not putting spaces when entering the oldubil reference number. It's now almost 24 hours later and I have 0 balance in oldubil

check the updates. Public holiday week in Turkey.

      • Cheers for that, I hadn't refreshed this page since yesterday

  • On Wise: Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27th of June until 3rd of July transfers will not be processed. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

    • ahhhhhhh I see, so that's why my money's still being transferred more than 24hrs later sigh

  • Campaign code when signing up to Oldubil?

  • Anyone know when the monthly limits for oldubil reset? Is it on the first of the month? Would be a bit annoying if that;s the case as it would mean having to wait until August to add more funds.

    • i'm trying to think why creating a new account wont work. I dont remember giving any ID or any sort of authentication except my phone number.

      • I'm guessing it'll be tied to your phone no, easily fixed by appropriating partner's phone :)

        • yessir

      • Correct. I did add an email just in case, but there were no ID verification

  • I do not recommend sending through Wise. They are refusing to allow my transfer as I don’t have a Turkish ID.

I converted funds into TRY from AUD and then sent it to OlduBil but they’re saying I need a Turkish ID to send funds to Türkiye.

    • How did they contact you?

      • Email. No matter how much back and forth they won’t do it.

        • Far out, wonder what the go is with that, as seemingly plenty of others used Wise just fine. I am waiting for the transfer, no email like you yet though. What's your plan now, transfer out and then use Revolut, if that's possible?

          • @mojadu: Yeah, I never had a problem with Wise, very interesting. That's a first!

  • Well i was careless and didnt include the Oldubil credit card number in the reference field.

Any idea if the money will just be sent back to me, or is it just lost?

    • Bummer dude. From the FAQ in the OP:

Q: I sent money to a bank from OlduBil and didn't receive anything. What can I do??
A: You can write to [email protected] and explain your issue. The processing cost is ₺3 TL.

    • So sorry to hear that. Has the transfer been finalised from Wise/Revolut? If not, cancel the transfer! Otherwise, follow the FAQ as per the comment above ^^

    • @MajorGaz See this comment. This user did the same mistake and got their money credited by OlduBil. Best of luck!

      • Thanks.
Just sent them an email. Hopefully they can redirect my transfer.

Had a chat with Revolut with their online chat. Very helpful.

In summary, because the transfer hasn't gone through their isn't anything anyone can do.
Once it goes through i have 2 options
          1. Revolut can do an amendment once its gone through
          2. Oldubil makes an amendment on their end.

Will see how it goes early next week once Turkey wakes back up from this holiday.

  • Public holiday as per edit so we wait till monday July 3rd before anything comes through.

I sure hope i can still get it then!

    • Yeah, happens to be the day my sub expires.

  • Something weird is happening. I sucessfully used this method to buy Game Pass Ultimate for 3 years. I can access the Game Pass catalogue as normal, but when I try to buy a game pass addon it won't offer me the discounted price. Says I need to join Game Pass. Does not recognise that I am already a Game Pass subscriber and prompts me to join.

    • Seems my Game Pass Ultimate sub is locked to Turkey and I cannot access any Australian Game Pass deals because it is the incorrect region. 😕

      • Hmm, that's a first. I hope you can get it fixed :)

      • How far do you get through the process, I am able to get to the point where a payment profile is selected and the next option is Buy

        • I tried to buy the Forza Motorsport Premium Addons Bundle. It should be 10% off for Game Pass Subscribers. But it says I have to buy Game Pass to get that discount. On my previous Australian Game Pass Ultimate sub it was offering me the discount.

          https://www.xbox.com/en-AU/games/store/forza-motorsport-prem…

When I try to add another month of Australian Game Pass it fails at the final purchase screen and says I cannot because it is the wrong region.

    • +4

Yes, you're right. I just checked and found the same. Although it doesn't bother me since I have no intention of ever buying anything. Might be worth noting in the FAQ though @ISP, in case people care to know this…

I figured out how to fix it.

In your Xbox, go into Settings > Account > Billing and payments
      Delete your OlduBil Mastercard

      Restart the Store app.

You should get the Game Pass discounts again.

      • Ahh, this is why i could not replicate the issue - that is one of the things I did after I completed the deal process as I just had a feeling…

      • Nah didn't work for me. Bummer.

        • Yeah sorry my bad. This just changes the Store UI to show that you have Game Pass, but it still doesn't give the Game Pass discount.

In theory you could try fixing it by changing your Xbox region to Turkey and then changing it back (because according to MS support documentation this will convert your Game Pass region as well) but I'm not game enough to try since it's not something I use/care about.

          • +2

@zzyss: I actually tried the region change on my Xbox last night. It didn't work.

Looks like I have to accept that this method of attaining cheap Game Pass just has this issue. Still worth it. The savings will offset the loss of discount on game and dlc purchases for most people.

However maybe I Smell Pennies could add it as a warning/drawback.

            • @Ge3ks: Besides removing the OlduBil Mastercard payment, have you disabled auto-renewal for the Turkey game pass?

    • +1

I seem to be having a similar issue. I have removed my OlduBil Mastercard as suggested by @zzyss but am still not getting the discount. It shows the 10% discount before I click on the game or add-on I want to buy (from a search or a list), but when I am viewing the title and then going to purchase it the discount no longer shows up. Very confusing.

      • Same.

        • +2

I'm getting the Gamepass discounts, but I'm not getting any of the Gold benefits at the moment. There are a fair few people on the Microsoft forum and Reddit who are experiencing the same issue. That being said, the most recent comment on the Microsoft forum is someone experiencing the same problem as you. There appears to be some problem with people upgrading from Gold to Gamepass Ultimate, even those who have done it within their own region, so could be a bigger issue at play.

          • @PottyDuck: Ah well that's encouraging. Thankyou PottyDuck.

          • @PottyDuck: Did you use an old Australian account or a new Turkey account for the game pass?

    • Is it possible to buy the addon from the Turkish Xbox store? You'd probably need a VPN to setg your IP to Turkey to do it but it will probably work out to be cheaper anyway. I guess you would need sufficient funds in your OlduBil Mastercard to do it though.

  • Transfer from Revolut is still on "Leaving for recipient's bank" since yesterday 1 pm. It states now, "We need a bit more time to process your transfer - sorry for the wait!". So remember, it most likely won't go through within 24h. Hopefully, it will arrive by tomorrow arvo.

At the top of the Microsoft Game Pass post, there has been an update since yesterday:

28/06/23 1:00pm - Due to a public holiday in Turkey from 27 June to 1st July (Kurban Bayrami Holiday), all transfers are delayed until Monday 3rd July. Please keep this in mind when making a transfer. - thanks to @netsurfer

      • welp. this was what happened to me. i figured that was the case due to eidl ad ha

      • Thanks mate, I've seen the update now. Bad timing :(
