Can't see on the website where these are made, so assume 100% not made in Japan

Definitely feels like a cheapo knife given a japanese name

Pretty sure the name knives are on aliexpress for like 40 bucks

    • ^this….

its not even a japanese name. its just japanese "sounding".

Japanese would never romanise their name as "tedzukuri", its not dissimilar to chinese companies trying (and failing) to come up with a good english word for their brand and spelling it wrong.

Their social media has more diverse people than what Japanese people would allow. Not Japanese knives

Don’t buy this crap from China. If you are looking for cooking knives and don’t know what to get, the most highly regarded bang-for-buck knives are by Victorinox. Either with Fibrox (plastic) handle (used extensively by chefs around the world) or some come with wooden handle, all made in Switzerland. Available from peters of Kensington, kitchen warehouse, etc. $60 for the 19cm Chefs knife is a fantastic option for a do it all knife.

If you want something Japanese there are specialist knife stores in Australian capital cities or buy direct from Japan at https://japanesechefsknife.com/. Step above would be $300 for a Takamura sg2 gyuto. Generally Japanese knife will be sharper but more prone to chipping.

    • Good advice mate, thank you.

If it’s the 19cm carving knife you’re talking about, I got mine from Amazon for about $40

Edit: my bad, mine is 15cm

This store is going to take as long to close down as the carpet store at my local mall.

  • Apologies, didn't know it's such a bad deal. If any mod can please remove the deal that'd be amazing?
