I’m genuinely curious to know who buys these laptops?

They seem like total e-waste and will likely end up in the ocean within 6months.

      They seem like total e-waste

Why e-waste? gaming or not gaming seems fine for $800

    • +4

Thats…excessive? sure it's days as a gaming machine are numbered but Its still a modern machine that would handle most other tasks for the forseeable future. I wouldn't class it as e-waste for quite some time.

Who throws their laptops in the ocean?

      • +1

        E-waste, not sea-waste.

I do not see why not the M.2 or the RAM cannot be replaced

Trying hard to find the proper Model and correct device and so i can look on HP

found the model number on JB - MODEL: 7Z928PA
    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hp-victus-15-6-fhd-144hz-…

Searched JB with that Model and it come u with this :
    https://support.hp.com/au-en/drivers/selfservice/victus-by-h…

Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A2AV)

But the below link has a KB on HP RAM upgrade

    https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/victus-by-hp-15.6-inch-…

but other then that, soory :(

  • Will it run fortnite without lag ?
    Any views ?

    • +1

1650 mobile will achieve ~90-100fps on Fortnite at low- medium ish settings at 1080p. This 12th gen CPU is more powerful than the one in my machine though so might be a bit higher than that

The RAM and SSD are upgradable, the screen's max brightness of 250nits is quite dim, I wish it was at least 300nits and the color accuracy is going to be poor too, but for $800, its not a bad laptop

  • This vs GF63?
    https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-thin-gf63-12ve-156-144hz-i5…

Very similar except 1650 vs 2050…

    • Could be wrong, but I would pay the extra $150 ($999 instead of $849) for the 3050 version.

I'm super happy with my MSI re: build quality and performance

  • It is a brick weight wise.

    • +1

      HP Brictus? 🤔

  • Product Weight (kg)
    2.29

    • It's fully plastic, the wobbliest screen I've ever seen and it's still 2.29kg?
Does HP stand for hash pipe?

      • Probably heavy cooling, still no excuse though. Acer has their Spin X at 1.39kg with a 1650.
