25% off Century Ultra Hi Performance Car Battery Selected Models (C&C Only) @ Autobarn

340

Was looking for a new car battery, have been waiting for EOFY sale.
There are multiple models of Century Ultra Hi Performance Car Battery on sale at Autobarn
40 months warranty.

What I do is find the right model and price at Autoburn, and ask for price beat from Supercheap Auto.
then get 10% off e-gift card from Shopback (The Super Gift Card), paid with discounted Coles prepaid Mastercard of course.

The battery I am after was $263 at SCA and $186 at Autobarn
the real price ends up as $153 after using SCA e-gift card + Coles prepaid Mastercard
Paid extra $20 for Battery Fitment + 3mth Extended Warranty
and they recycle the old battery for free

Tips: SCA website only allows 3 gift cards in a single transaction, but Shopback has 10% off on $50 ones only.
So if you want to use 4 or more $50s, just go to online chat, SCA CS will help you to merge all your $50s to a single e-gc and email to you.
It takes around 15 mins.

Having battery issues and don’t want to fork out $270+

  • Unfortunately no ISS EFB batteries on sale.

    • Shame - I've been keeping an eye on prices lately as I'm expecting to need a new battery soon-ish. So far the Exide SSEFB-D23 for $180 from Costco is the best option.

      • +1

25% off is now storewide. Can't find any EFB lower than $180 though.

Thanks for that. I saw this deal earlier and checked straight away. This is the equivalent battery that I could buy. If I needed it, I could stack it with a 10% off Ultimate Home card and get it down to $181.58 but I don't need to buy the battery imminently so I figure I'll ride it out until it dies.

  • if you've got a scrap metal place near you who takes sla batteries, you'll get some $$ back

+1 for the write up op

Don't forget to compare your particular battery against the Exide equivalent from Costco and Bunnings - these are often significantly cheaper than the RepcSuperBarn prices.

    • Been looking around for a battery as I know mine is on the way out and the Century Q85 ISS battery is $393.00 delivered but I can get an Exide SSEFB-D23 which is the equivalent model for $180.00 from Costco. There's a warranty difference of 1 year but for less than half the price I'll roll the dice.

Weirdly, Bunnings don't sell this model but do sell the SSEFB-D23R reverse model where the terminals have been swapped.

You can special order any of the models from Bunnings - I had to do this because mine wasn't on the shelf.
Note that the red top models have the extra year of warranty (from memory) but the cost isn't much different πŸ‘

My red top Exide lives in a small high output turbo car (very crowded under the bonnet, and everything gets baked from the turbo) and it's been doing fine for the past few years.

        • Do the red top batteries handle being in a start-stop car? I've checked the official Exide catalogue and they only recommend the Evolution series EFB for my car.

          • +1

@daanish: Don't know, sorry, mine doesn't auto stop start 😁

            • @Nom: Thanks - Been doing some Googling and I think the red tops are a different type of chemisty which will get wrecked quickly by a stop-start car. Might stick with the recommended model.

    • I got one recently from Costco, $170, same specs $280+ elsewhere.

  • Also saw repco give $30 trade in with your old battery

  • Most AutObarns will fit the battery for free. And yes, depending on your local recycling places you may be able to get some $$ for your old battery πŸ‘πŸ½

  • oufff … i literally just changed the car battery at SCA yesterday.

Turn off Stop Start in your car. Get a normal battery. Simple! (If out of warranty of course)

    • I wish. There's no way to (reversibly) disable start stop in my car. I just have to turn it off every time I start the car.

  • I bought a new Century High Performance DIN85LH battery today. Had to ask supercheap auto to pricematch the townsvillewholesalebatteries as they were $285 (instead of $419) with free delivery.

    • I asked the same thing last night, waiting on their contact form reply back regarding price beat guarantee.
      Exide or century better though?

      • I've got an Exide in one car atm that's clocked just over 3 years, I've had another one in my old car that went past 6 years before I got rid of the car. I've only just put my first Century battery in my other car a couple of months ago, so I can't give an estimate of longevity on that one just yet.
If there's one thing I've learnt, it's to get the highest model/version of the battery you need to get, they'll generally have thicker plates (or more of them), higher CCA, better vibration resistance which will all help with the longevity and they'll usually have longer warranty all for just a fraction more in cost.
If it matters to you much, buying Century battery is also supporting local jobs and manufacturing in Australia too.

        • I think the yellow Century batteries are still Aussie made but the newer start-stop batteries are imports.

That said, I've had a Q85 Start-stop Century battery installed since April 2019 and it's still ticking along. Dropped to about 420 CCA from 650 original and is still cranking easy.

      • would they entertain price beat after you have paid and installed the battery?

  • They won't price beat the Townsville store

**Taking a look at this one for you we are unable to price beat this one for you as this is from a wholesale store, is there somewhere else you would like to price beat this item from. **

Guess I'll order the exide from Bunnings or the century from Townsville store as free shipping anyway

  • Just wanted to say this deal was awesome esp. for the tip at the bottom regarding combining the multiple GCs into 1
