Bonus $1000 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card on $89/Month 300GB/Month 2-Year JB Hi-Fi Mobile Plan (in-Store, New Customer, Port-in) @ JB Hi-Fi

81

The old JB gift Card if you sign up with a JB Hi-Fi Mobile plan (powered by Telstra).
It's actually the $99/300GB/ Month deal, but they're giving you $10 off for the 2 years.

$2136 cost over 24 months.
So if you actually need the gift card, it's effectively $1136 for the plan over 24 months. That's $47.33/ month.
(And here i am, about to have my monthly Telstra bill go up from $59 to $65/ Month with 60GB. Not that i need more, I don't use it.
I've just done the maths
24*$65 = $1560
Although I'm already with Telstra so don't qualify, i could spend an $576 extra over 2 years for $1000 GC. I.e. $424 bonus).

The previous Jbhifi / good guys plans used to only be 12 months. 2 years is too long

Depends, I got good value from the $1400 off voucher today and $300 off s23u

      $89pm for 24m = $2136. Add $249 for s23u 256gb, and then subtract:

      -$1400 giftcard
-$200-400 resale value for bonus watch
-$tax claim for phone bill use
      -$tax claim for phone use
-$100 gift card for buying a phone

I think I end up with a free phone plan, and then do make some extra money back through tax refund

Or another way I see it is, after all the deductions it's around $20-30pm for a Telstra phone plan, and I get a free s23ultra.

      • $1400 also applies to S23+ (ie. free under deal)

        • +2

          Yeah, I wanted the ultra.

Partner got the s23+, and also eligible for the watch redemption too.

Her $100 gift card went towards my phone cost, and we have a spare $100 giftcard to use.

          • @bs0: I'm confused, is the gift card $1000 or $1400 and how do i get the 1400?

            • @jaspermaya100: It's a $1000 gift card for a $89m plan. but increased to $1400 for Samsung s23 series.

      • Where is this $100 gift card listed? Cant find it anywhere?

        • +1

It was mentioned in the other jbhifi post that was posted 1-2 dayy, get $100gc with any phone purchase over X amount.

Wasn't advertised in-store very well tbh, I wasn't expecting it but the store rep gave it voluntarily.

      • +1

What is tge phone cost on invoice for tax?

        • +1

Was initially planning on getting the 256gb, but got the 512gb instead.

Receipt shows 1949 as the value of the phone, -$1400 gc, -$100 gc, and the remainder as card payment.

For tax purposes that's claiming $1949 * 70% for work use * tax bracket.

    • +2

So pay $40 more a month than you need for 24 months and we will give you back the $960 you over paid up front

      • This actually works out great for employees that can reimburse phone plans excluding the device charges.
Assuming the employee stays in that cimpoany and the company doesn't change the benefit, the employee gets to reimburse 2,136 and they get to keep 1000 as GC and possibly tax refund a phone bought from that GC.
For those without such benefit, $40/month doesn't sound that bad and can look at it as getting a $1000 loan in GC form for 2 years without interest.

    • And tight cancellation terms:

      Voucher Repayment Fee
6.2 If you received a JB Hi-Fi Voucher when you purchased your Mobile Service and you cancel
that Mobile Service within any applicable Voucher Term, you must pay us the outstanding
amounts for the JB Hi-Fi Voucher you received for the cancelled Mobile Service (the Voucher
      Repayment Fee).

6.3 The Voucher Repayment Fee is a pro-rata amount, equal to the total amount of the base
Voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by the months (or part months) remaining in your
Voucher Term. For example, if received a voucher with a 24-month Voucher Term, then in:
      (a) Month 1: You will need to repay 23/24 of the Voucher you received;
      (b) Month 12: You will need to repay 11/24 of the Voucher you received; and
      (c) Month 23: You will need to repay 1/24 of the Voucher you received.

6.5 Where you are required to pay the Voucher Repayment Fee, we will issue you with a bill for
the amount payable, which you can pay using a payment method of your choice within 10
days. If you don’t pay it within 10 days, then we will automatically deduct the amount owing
from the bank account, debit card or credit card that you have nominated for your AutoPay
      payments.

      • My voucher repayment fee is $800 on the contract FYI, - that was for a $1400 gift card for s23 series.

anyone had Telstra, then Ported to another carrier and then ported back to get these deals , would that work?
    Asking for a friend

    • +1

needs to be at least 30 days since you've been with Telstra I think, My question is very similar though. Can you port from Belong and still be classed a new Telstra customer ?

      • Fine print boost and belong are not eligible

    • +1

30days seems to be what they ask for - worked for me today

  • There is a $49 pm plan if you’re already with Telstra and you want to drop down from Telstra’s $58+ (and are too lazy too hunt for a better deal cross-carrier). No GC of course then.

    • +1

Yeah, I did see that and it enticed me. I've been planning to go to Woolies or Boost for months and months but have not done.
Partially lazy, partially don't want them stuffing up the change over when I'm oncall and def need connection that week.
I know it's costing me a bunch by being lazy too…

  • Wish they added free international calls in the plans

  • Would it be possible to sign on as a new customer and then port a current testra number to replace the new one? Dont want a new number but keen on a new phone to replace my S20+ and deal seems good.

    • I think others have discussed this in similar posts previously
You'll have to search to check

  • Does the gift card expire on 28/6/23 less than 2 weeks time?

    • I doubt it

    • +1

jb hifi gift cards don't expire according to the store rep I spoke to.

  • these deals are getting worse and worse. within the last week, the $69 plan went from:

    • $69 + $600 gift card
      to
    • $69 + $550 gift card
      to
    • $69 + $500 gift card

not to mention, all the signs in the shop were saying +$450 gift card. all of this on a 24 month plan..

    • Jbhifi they love doing that, sometimes I've seen the other way around were instead the deal gets better over time lolz

  • Any international calls and messages included in this plan?

    • No, but the plans now have the ability to add International Call & SMS Packs starting from $10 per month via the MyTelstra App.

  • -1

Apologies if this has been asked before but Can you port from Boost to Telstra?

    • Telstra, Boost, JB Mobile, TGG customers are excluded

  • Stupid question (maybe). Just to clarify, I presume that I can put the $1400 gift card directly toward the purchase of a Samsung S23 Ultra at the time of purchase?

    • Yes, most people use the gift card in this way.

      • OK, great. Thanks, mate.

  • +2

    Just sharing my experience.
Just bought the S23 Ultra now and have been told that the $100 cc is not valid with the $1400 offer, after a lengthy discussion got the manager to give me half price on a case and belkin 4 port charger which came to about $70 worth of discount. Still bummed about the cc though, but better than nothing, I guess.

  • What does this mean in reality:
Available with up to 10 eligible plans on the same account for use within Australia

Does that mean I can have up to 10 other numbers that loop into this deal at no extra cost?

    • +1

If you have 10 other eligible JB plans on one account they can share data between each service

      • One feature jbhifi/telstra postpaid plans dont allow is data sharing, sadly enough 😔

  • +1

had a mate walk into JB hifi today - signed up $89 plan, got the $1400 credit towards S23 Ultra 256GB - paid $249 and got the $100GC and done all this with signing up a new number. No port out and port in.

He will try to now close off his old telstra account and transfer old/existing number to the new plan ($89) and get rid of the new number allocation today.

    • +1

Let me know how he goes, I so need to do this!

  • Just drop the price by $1000 and not have to sign up to a contract. IMO, if you're not using it for business, contracts are outdated…. thing of the past. It's a hefty fee this day & age @ $89m/$22.25p/w

  • +1

    just signed up, thanks OP

  • Is deal still available? I plan to visit the store tomorrow for the s23 ultra with 1400 credit.
