  • Two problems:
    - Either forgot the mandatory GST of Tax AU$2.47
    - Or the promo only applies over US $20.01 (this item is less than that, The order amount(excluding shipping fee) is under the minimum spend of this promo code. Please apply another code.)

I'm getting US$16.45. Did you select the 5-in-1?

      • +3

        That was the problem, cheers!

  • Is 4k@30hz bad?

    • +11

I'd avoid unless used only for occasional presentations. For daily work, it's terrible

    • +4

I didn't think so, but received a 4k monitor this week as an upgrade from a 2k one. My current adaptor was only able to do 30hz at 4k (60hz at 2k) and it felt terrible to work with, like everything was very laggy, my mouse pointer precision dropped severely and felt extremely unproductive when building the most basic PowerPoint slides. For an occasional use it's fine, but for daily use 60hz is the way to go

    • +2

its not bad, it is worse than bad.

      • +11

Regrettably, your comment presents a number of concerns.

        • First, it's weird you link an article that does not mention any of the numbers you stated.
        • Second, traditional movie theaters use 24 FPS, not 25 or 29.97Hz - you might have confused yourself with the NTSC and PAL standards.
        • Third, if you claim that we cannot see flicker above 17Hz#, why do you think movies are made with 24Hz or above? (#this is not true, by the way, the rods on the retina can see flicker much higher than 17Hz https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/841308/)
        • Fourth, you appear to confuse our ability to see individual frames as motion vs. the ability to be productive when moving around your mouse cursor and losing sight of it as the refresh rate is too low
        • Lastly, you tell me if you can see the difference or not (you'll need a 60Hz+ display): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re74_0fIUXs
        • +1

          +1 for the comprehensive answer.

But that video was surprising. Both refresh rates were equally bad in my opinion (except the slow motion which doesn't count). I've never seen (or at least noticed) such jittery movement! Is it accurate?

My phone was on adaptive refresh rate so probably 120Hz, but I set it to 60Hz to make sure.

      • Oh no no no

      • You are completely out of your depth here. It is laughable at best.

On a side note, most films are shot at 24fps.

    • +4

Anyone that says 30hz on a 4k monitor is usable for any extended length of time is either blind or insane. I guess it is a subjective thing but it feels horrible to me, mouse movement it noticeably choppy - makes the computer feel slow.

My work issued dell laptop has an insufficient HDMI version to run my home 4k monitor when I was wfh during lockdown. I intended up running it in 1440@60hz instead.

Edit - side note, I learned that you actually have to set the refresh rate in your monitor settings too. If you have a flash 144hz monitor (or whatever) chances are it is only running at default 60hz.

    • unless video all the time, you probably wont notice the difference. Test 30 in "displays" by selecting you current screen and dropping to 30, see how you go.

  • +2

Not a bad deal, but I got mine for about this, for $25 from Amazon.

    • Link?

  • Paid AU$24.11 using their own currency conversion, interesting it's lower than 28D

    • +3

Did you have AliExpress coins? As that would have reduced the price further.

      • Ah you're right, 43c in coins, didn't even notice.

        • I have the exact amount of AliExpress coins! Is that a coincidence?

          • +2

@alterego13: no. they have a max limit of coins that can be used per purchase. depends on price I think.

  • Not far off from reaching the min spend for an additional discount so might be worth having a look at what else is included in the sale.

Does anyone know of hubs that do 144/165 hz 1440p?

  • I got the 6in1 60Hz. worked out to be about 31 aussie

  • Any deals on a hub which supports dual monitors? Just need 1080p@60

    • +1

You only need one video out on the hub if your laptop has its own video output (which they all do). That's what I do with my Targus.

      • Thanks but my laptop sits in the study table drawer with the monitors above. So having this hub above reduces the wiring mess that I need to pull into the drawer.

Also, if I remove the laptop to take to the office, I will just need to pull out one cable.

  • What is a good dock for steam deck?

      4k30hz. Baseus is 4k60hz

      • -3

I believe Baseus is also 30hz

  • Awesome deal, was just in the market for a 4k@60hz adaptor. Bought just as there were only 3 left! Hopefully it will stack with 20% cashback!

Does this work with a Chromecast for TV?

    • chromecast connects to the tv. not a hub.

      • Yes it works fine. I have tested it with external usb drive & ethernet.

It connects like TV -> Chromecast -> hub -> power source, usb devices, ethernet.

  • Indicator light?

    ..But why?

  • I'm only getting the 4-in-1 version at this price. Looks like the deal has run out.

    • Did you collect the US$10 store coupon?

  • best to buy individual units?

  • Thanks very much OP. Was actually looking for something like this so this deal came at the perfect time!

  • Thanks just bought this.

Would this have a charger, or do I need to purchase a special one that can charge my laptop?

    • +1

This doesn't have a charger. In case your laptop adapter has usb c output like most of the dell, lenovo has it then you can just plug that in the hub.

      • +1

You have to make sure your charger can supply enough power for the hub+laptop. My Lenovo required 65w, and from online research, my old usb hub required around 12w, therefore i had too update my laptop charger to be able to deliver more than 77w. I think i got a 90w one from the Lenovo ed store.

  • Even better:
Choose the 8 in 1 version and apply the voucher that it offers and it comes down to ~AUD30. In the cart is says spend an extra 7c to get $6 off. Quickly find something that costs a couple of dollars (I added this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004156704769.html?spm=a2…) and the whole thing came to $28 total ($30.96 inc GST).

Edit: Shit, I think I might have accidentally bought a 30hz model. I guess it's getting used as a spare to dock my phone.

    • +1

You can cancel the order before it dispatches.

I think the best discount is for 6in1 hdmi, rj45 dock.

For working from home and a work laptop into a 2nd screen with a keyboard and mouse connected, would this do the job with no issues?

Sick of plugging everything in ever few days when I work from home!

    • +1

absolutely fine, if you just have 1 monitor.

My setup: 1 Monitor, wireless keyboard & mouse using unifying dongle, usb headset all connected to the hub. Along with power adapter.

Hub's usb c output is connected to the laptop. Everyday just remove the hub from laptop and off you go.

  • +1

What do you guys use as a 2 PC (gaming PC, work laptop) & 1 monitor setup? I'm constantly having to switch my hub between work and play.

    • +1

My mate swears on NoMachine (Win-Mac), I used RDP quite a bit between Win-Win (I tried his setup and was excellent, not sure if better than RDP, but surely better than VNC).
Regardless, I would stay away from KVM switches, they are a pain in the shoe.

      • Try Anydesk.

      • mmm yea I was looking for more of a physical solution like a switch, not sure how I feel about using remote solution for my work laptop which has sensitive information.

    • +1

Assuming you don't need to use BOTH laptop and desktop at same time:

      1. USB switch for kB/mouse and peripherals (ugreen USB3 works great for me)
      2. USB-C hub

Desktop is wired to one monitor input and USB switch

Laptop plugs into usb-c hub when needed. Hub is connect to second input of monitor and USB switch

This way I just need to plug one cable to laptop and flick between laptop/desktop from USB switch. The monitor automatically changes input to device which is on.

    • Get hdmi splits (two ways).
Assuming both laptop and monitor all have hdmi

      Example
YIWENTEC HDMI 2.1 8K Switch Directional 2in 1out with Remote Control 8K@60Hz 4K@120Hz Converter High Speed 48Gbps Compatible with Xbox PS5 Projectors Monitors https://amzn.asia/d/27GuOQu

      • I wanna use the same peripherals on 2 separate computers. The monitor is fine, it has more than 1 HDMI output which is plugged into both PC and laptop (only having 1 operating at the same time of course).

        • +1

Get keyboard amd mouse that can connect to multiple devices.
          Example
          Mx keyboard
          Mx lift vertical

You need to press 3 buttons, the hdmi switch, the keyboard and mouse to change between laptops

  • saved $0.01, paid $24.35 winning

  • +2

Please not that due to bandwidth limitations, in order to get 4K 60FPS your host device MUST have thunderbolt.

A non-thunderbolt USB-C port does NOT have the bandwidth to drive 4K 60FPS AND USB 3.0 devices, and you will get 4K 30 FPS as a maximum.

    • I wonder what would be software/app to test the FPS on a monitor/TV screen? I have my LG C2 connected to my work laptop but seeing mouse lagging on the TV and doubt if it's the laptop using 4K@30Hz or because of something else.

      • The bottleneck thing is only a problem for monitor I believe.

For media consumption through TV, best to stick with media devices like Google TV. They have hdmi 2.x with same certified cable built in which can achieve the same thing without thunderbolt. And pretty cheap too.

Otherwise, you need thunderbolt device + thunderbolt dock + thunderbolt cable which are not cheap and only thunderbolt 5 can match hdmi 2.1's performance. But again thunderbolt has the usb c advantage.

        • +1

          Thanks mate. I know why….
          On my laptop I have:
          (2) USB 3.1 Type-C with Thunderbolt
          (1) USB 3.1 Gen 1 (charging)
          (1) HDMI 1.4

          HDMI 1.4: 4096×2160 at 24 Hz, 3840×2160 at 24, 25, and 30 Hz, and 1920×1080 at 120 Hz.

I've bought a new HDMI2.1 cable and now I guess I made a good bet on this Baseus hub as I can use the Thunderbolt interface other than the current legacy HDMI1.4 interface. Hypothetically the hub can help me from the mouse lagging issue.

    • My only real use for USB-C hubs for now is with my Surface 7 Pro. Google telling me that has a "normal" USB-C port, doesn't have thunderbolt … so no point?
      I already have a Baseus 4k30 USB-C hub.

    • +1

Please not that due to bandwidth limitations, in order to get 4K 60FPS your host device MUST have thunderbolt.

      Shouldn't need to be Thunderbolt.
USB-C with DP 1.4 Alt Mode supports USB 3.x + 4K/60hz at the same time.

A non-thunderbolt USB-C port does NOT have the bandwidth to drive 4K 60FPS AND USB 3.0 devices, and you will get 4K 30 FPS as a maximum.

That should only be the case with devices that have DP 1.2 Alt Mode.

  • with the 6-1 (make sure 60hz) i get $31

  • Other discounts from here and here can be combined if you already have something else to buy

  • also just fyi this item is affil item but not sure if the code and all the disc will affect it

  • I remember your profile mate Where u been

  • lol because of this spent another $40 oh well

  • Looks like a fancy USB hub to plug in USB sticks and memory cards, so why does it have a HDMI port and how does that work when connected to your PC? Is it for an external monitor?

    • there is no mem card slot i think on the 6 nd 5in1?
yes ext monitor, play switch etc

  • $27.35 after paypal currency conversion for the 6-in-1 60hz model after activating all coupons and a few cents worth of coins.

    Thanks OP!

  • Can we use this if we have dual monitors or more?
Got one dell 4k and a Dell P series.
    Thanks

  • Can anyone please confirm if the USB c PD port on this one charges devices (output) or is only meant to be used to power the hub (input)? Thanks.

    • +1

Yes it does charge. Especially it is used to charge laptop but any other device should work.

  • Is this deal over or am I just incapable of navigating the AliExpress world?

It drives me nuts every time I try to buy something

    • +1

yes its stupid, lots of seller do doddgy things put like paper clip for $5c so they listing is the cheapest but the others items are totally different and priced like $20++
we sort and it comes at no items found, if not sorting, there are like thousand items found
tick free shipping to filter but still seeing listing with shipping fees

      hate it ..

    • +1

Coupon no longer working, have marked deal as expired.

  • 5-in-1 hub arrived but it doesnt work with my 34" 1440 ultrawide. Vertical resolution is correct, but horizontal is on the wrong ratio regardless of resolution setting.
No issue with other docks and multiple adaptors so im pretty sure its the hub.

Anyone else facing the same problem?

    • See my comment below. Not having the same issue as you, but I suspect the 5-in-1 hub isn't able to handle high resolutions and refresh rates even though it says it can.

Were you able to get it at 4k or above at 60hz (even if the display ratio is wrong)?

  • I got the 5-in-1 hub and it's arrived, but I'm having an issue - it's not letting me do 4k 60hz over HDMI whereas my old USB C hub allowed me to do that. I'm having doubts if the 5-in-1 can actually do 4k 60hz even though it says it can on the packaging. Anyone else having this issue too?

    • @Shirr0
same here i complained on ali and they offerred usd6 refund after trying me to do lots of things to prove it cant do 60hz

problem is i already have 4k30hz dongle oh well….
